Sunday Challenge: Featured Stamper

Today’s challenge is I think my favorite of the week. It gives me the chance to case the incredible artists on splitcoaststampers. Usually I feel bad casing cards….like I am lazy or something. But Sundays I am giving permission, no I am encouraged to do so.

Today’s featured stampers is Holly, aka Toy. She always comes up with eye catching, mind boggling layouts. Casing Toy was a joy! I know…corny. I couldn’t help myself. I cased this card of hers. I loved the layout and the way she doodled the border.

I started out by stamping the girl with the cake from Living Large on watercolor paper in black stazon. I used the coluzzle to cut it into an oval shape and cut a matching, little bit bigger oval out of True Thyme cardstock. I doodled the border with a black journaling pen and colored the image in with an aqua painter and these classic inks: Sahara sand, True Thyme, Bashful Blue, Blush Blossom, So Saffron

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of True Thyme cardstock folded in half. The next layer is So Saffron. Then I added a small strip of bashful blue on the top. I had stamped it with white craft ink and the Paisley background stamp.

The bottom has another piece of True Thyme. It was stamped with the Linen background stamp and sponged around the edges. I punched a window through the True Thyme layer with the big oval punch and punched a small oval out of bashful blue cardstock. On it I stamped ” You Take the Cake” by inking up the words separately to make them fit. I added two more doodle stars that match the border of the main image.

In between the blue and thyme cardstock layers is a small strip of Petals & Paisleys designer paper. Just because I love it!!! :) On top of that I added the stitched thyme grosgrain.

The main image as well as the saying were adhered with dimensionals.

On the top right I added two more oval punch outs as tabs. I stamped them with Linen background first and finished them off with two white brads (bought from Starlitstudio, because I am too lazy to change my brad color by embossing!).

Have a wonderful evening! Hugs and smiles
