Way to Use it Challenge
Julia made it easy for us today. This weeks Way to use it challenge is to use Metal. Eyelets, brads, hodgepodge, metallic paper…..anything will work.
I am sorry. I promise I will post a card with Stampin’ Up! images soon. It’s just my Fancy Pants stamps are brand spanking new. And brand spanking new is always my favorite.
The patterned paper on this card is from the Gypsy BasicGrey Paper pad. I started with a regular size black card, folded the long way. I corner rounded two or the corners. I rounded the corners of my Gypsy paper and adhered that to the card front. Next I took a Heidy Swapp ghost shape flower and outlined it with black sharpie. Then I added stardust stickle on the back of it and taped it on blue Gypsy paper, that I had stamped with a swirly stamp from Fancy Pants Pollen Dust. Once that was dry I cut out the flower shape.
The flower center is stamped with Midnight Black DewDrop Versamagic ink on whisper white cardstock. Once it dried I added Making Memories Page pebble over it and cut it out as well.
My frame is from the Silver Hodgepodge hardware kit. I added Midnight Black ink over it and embossed it with black embossing powder. I stamped HOPEon white cardstock and taped it where I wanted my saying to be. Next I used vintage black brads (Stampin’ Up!) to hold my metal frame in place.
I positioned the flower and secured it with a black brad as well. Last I added ribbon to finish the card off. The dotted ribbon is May Arts and seems to become my favorite ribbon right now.
I had thought about sending this card as a condolence card to an address of a family that lost their child at VT, but several SCS members think it’s too cheerful. I guess it will be my next “get well card” then.
In case you were wondering what I did with the rest of my FREE day yesterday. I am working on altering a Sophia purse from Bare Elements and adding matching scrapbook pages inside. I finished the purse and now have to work on the pages. I hope I can share it tomorrow!
Have a wonderful day! It’s gorgeous here in Florida. Finally! We had bad weather ever since we came back from San Antonio. I wonder if it’s karma since I teased you with the beach photos in March! LOL Our forcast calls for beautiful warm weather all through the weekend. I might have to post a new beach picture then…if I dare! lol

The paper you used is really funky fresh! It pops on the black and the blue flower is really fun. Definitely too cheery for a sympathy but would definitely make someone feel better if they are down!

Hi Beate! How’s it going today. These are fun colors for me, love the BG paper. I think it might be a little too bright for a sympathy card, but I think mostly because it’s such a TRAGIC death. If it was my grandma, or someone else who’s had a long, beautiful life, then I think it would be fine. Does that make sense? I am heading to Northern Virginia this Saturday for a mini getaway, and I’m sure it will be somewhat solomn given the recent events….have a good night!

I absolutely love, love, love this card. Honestly, though condolences are nice to get, folks in that state of distress need cheering up sometimes. I think it would be a perfect “Thought I would send you a smile in your time of sorrow” card!!!

Great card! TFS.
If you show any more beach photos I will probably die, LOL. I’m in central Ohio and we’re land-locked! Up north is Lake Erie, but I come from NYC and I love having water and beaches almost everywhere, expecially on Long Island. I MISS, MISS, MISS it even though I’ve been here for 17 years. I don’t want to go back to NYC to live, but I would love to have the beaches! Florida has beaches that compete with the Islands in the Caribbean, love them too!
