Amy’s Sketch challenge

Amy Westerman posts a sketch challenge every Sunday. I have not done one in several weeks, but I knew as soon as I saw this weeks that I really wanted to work with this layout.

I started out with the three flowers on the right hand side, but somehow that didn’t work for me. It just didn’t look right with the saying and the colors I choose.

So I switched it up a bit and added ribbon there instead. The ribbon is chocolate grosgrain and white organdy ribbon.

Card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of chocolate chip cardstock folded in half. I brayered over the Au Chocolat Designer paper with pretty in pink and added a scallop border. I then added eyelet holes all the way through. After a DUH moment, I only added eyelets on top and bottom of the border, since the rest of the holes won’t show.

The saying is from the Elegant Inspiration set. I punched out a chocolate chip flower with the Spring flower punch , added a circle of brayered Au Chocolat paper over it and topped it off with a pretty in pink brad.

Color Challenge for a great cause

Emily is so sweet. She posted this weeks color challenge with a link to Shane’s Wish website.

I like the look cutting half circles out of designer paper to add a circle embellishment or accent inside that cutout. It is being used in a lot of scrapbooking magazines. I thought it would be great for a card as well. I checked the gallery for this challenge and a lot of cutesy images were already being used. So I used just the Big Deal Alphabet to stamp hi on my circle. I inked up the letters with Cool Carribean classic ink. I stamped it off once, then outlined the rubber with Taken with teal marker and stamped little cirles from Bundle of Joy on the stamp. I huffed on the stamp and stamped the image on whisper white cardstock.

The circle is punched out with the Mega Marvy circle punch and then layered on a Taken with Teal Gigal scallop circle.

The designer paper are from the Love me and Petals & Paisley Designer Paper packs. My card base is a 5 1/4″ Marigold Morning square card.

The ribbon is, as always May Arts ribbon, from Starlitstudio.

Card on the Stamper’s Showcase

I am excited and grinning from ear to ear. I have a card on the Stamper’s Showcase today! I made this card back in February. I think it was a challenge card.

The Stamper’s Showcase is a section on the demo site of Stampin’ Up! Every day Stampin’ Up! adds three or four samples made by fellow demonstrators. Those samples are send in for contests or brought as swaps to Stampin’ Up! events. I regularly send cards in that I made when  I like how they turned out.

I used Big Blooms, Headline Alpha and That’s Nice as stamp sets. The colors are Cameo Coral, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery and Cool Caribbean.

I am so sad to see Cool Caribbean go. I bought another reinker and three more packs of cardstock. I don’t want to run out anytime soon. It’s such a gorgeous color.
