Warm Up cards
Valerie Stangle posted today’s Technique challenge. She shared several warm up cards on her blog before and made it today’s technique challenge.
Valerie makes 3″x3″ cards that won’t take longer then 15 minutes when she begins her stamping session to warm up her creative juices. I have loved the idea when I read about it on her blog. Her making it a challenge pushed me over the edge. Here is my warm up card….well, it’s the only stamping I have done so far and probably will all day.
We had termites come into our house yesterday evening. The kids were freaking out and we had a major clean up to day. They were still coming in when we went to bed and we even had several land on our bed. Needless to day I hardly slept at all. I am soooo tired!
I started with a 3″x6″ cool caribbean card base and folded it in half. Then I dug through my designer paper scraps and found a small piece of Petals & Paisley Designer paper that I thought would look good with it. These little cards are great to use up smaller scraps. I cut it down to 2 7/8″ in length and used the ticket corner punch on both corners on the bottom.
Next stamped the flower from Doodle That on Shimmery White cardstock and colored it in with aqua painter and So Saffron, More Mustard, Old Olive and Cool Caribbean. I taped it down on a bigger piece of Basic Black cardstock and cut closely around it with my decorative scissor.
I took a thin scrap of Shimmery white cardstock, added scallops with the decorative scissor and taped it under the designer paper. I finished the card of with some of my May Arts ribbon.
Easy peasy, quick and cute! At least I think so.
Austin just came home. He can open the doors for my two younger ones. I am going to take a nap!
