Craft Secrets luggage tag card

Amy Westerman has Try Something New Tuesdays. She made an Acetate pocket card. Well….of course I didn’t read the whole thing and I used a luggage tag. The outcome still looks the same.

My center image is an image from the Crafty Secret booklet Wacky & Wonderful. I layered it on whisper white cardstock and cut a border with my Fiskars Postage scissor to make it look like an old photograph. I layered that onto chocolate chip cardstock.

I cut the tag of the luggage tag off with scissors and cut a half circle into the top with my coluzzle. I stapled May Arts double sided pink satin ribbon, Stampin’ Up! white organdy ribbon and May Arts white ric rac on the top of the image.

For the card base, I used a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of chocolate chip cardstock folded in half. The 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of decorated paper is from Radiant paper pack from Crafty secrets. The color was a little bit too intense so I sanded it down quite a bit with Stampin’ Up!’s sanding block.

I stamped the paper with images from the French Mail  set from Crafty Secrets in Brown Palette ink. The luggage tag was taped to the main card with glue dots. I finished the card of with double layered prima flowers that were attached with Vintage brads.

Fun color Challenge

Today’s color combo for the challenge was: Tempting Turquoise, Rose Red, Apricot Appeal and optional Green Galore. I really liked yesterday’s idea of warm up cards, so I made another one.

amuse-pursedog-c114.jpg

As soon as I read the color combo, I knew I would be using some of the Palette O’ Prints designer paper (POP). Two of the four colors in the paper pack are rose red and apricot appeal. If you haven’t gotten a pack yet, it’s so worth the $9.95. Talk to your demonstrator. It’s a great deal.

I started with a 3″x 6″ piece of Tempting Turquoise folded in half. For these small cards I like it better when the opening of the card is on the bottom instead of the right side.

I cut a piece of the tiny dotted Rose Red POP and added a 3/8″ x 2 7/8″ piece of black cardstock over it. I punched the two bottom corners of the POP with the ticket corner punch and tape it to the card. I punched a Giga Scallop Square out of Apricot Appeal cardstock and taped it down on more too the right. On the left of the square I added two Apricot Appeal brads. I cut a 1 9/16″ square of black cardstock and taped it on top of my scallop square. Next I cut a 1  1/2″ square out of shimmery white.

So far it took me no time at all. Now I had to find an image that would go with the colors and the size of the card. Usually I start with picking the stamp set before getting the layout of the card done. It was weird doing it backwards. I finally took my A Muse Art stamps out and found this cute Doggie bag (2-7110E). I stamped it with black Palette ink and colored the image except for the purse with Classic Ink (Apricot Appeal, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Rose Red and Tempting Turquoise) and Aqua Painter. Next I stamped skinny oval bl sm (3-5012C) in Sahara Sand under the purse.

I stamped the Doggie Bag again on the same background paper I used for the bottom of the card. I cut the bag pieces out and taped them over my main image to turn the little purse in a polka dotted rose purse.

Under the image I stamped Sweet Friend with stamps from the Everyday Flexible Phrases set. I added a Shimmery White and Apricot Appeal flower punchout from the Spring Flower punch. I sponged the edges of the Apricot Appeal flower with Apricot Appeal Classic ink on taped it on to the white flower. Lastly I added a black brad in the center and taped the flower down with a dimensional.

Cool new feature

I love cruising blogs. I never subscribe to them because I don’t want to get any more emails. So I used to go through my blog list and check them. As the blog list great and grew…it became harder to keep up.

On my blog in admin, I have a feature to see what blogs have recently linked to mine. When I clicked on more, it took me to this site:

Technorati

I love it. I added my blog favorites in there and it shows me who updated when! Now I just have to check the list and won’t miss anyone’s new post without getting one email! (Did I mention that I love it?)

I added a little symbol on the left hand side that lets you add my blog to your list if you are interested.

Termites update: We hardly had any come into the house last night! I was excited about that and slept like a baby!!!
