Super Sketch Sunday #15

I love participating in Amy’s Challenges. She always inspires me to use more designer paper and in ways I haven’t done so before. Last Sunday’s sketch was no exception. I did change it into a square card, and my main image is a circlular instead of a rectangle…but I followed the rest. LOL

you-make-me-happy-sss_15.jpg

I started out with a 4 1/2″ x 9″ piece of Close to Cocoa folded in half. On top of that is a 4 1/4″ square of whisper white cardstock with a 4″ square of Scenic Route paper. The two 7/8″ x 4″ dotted paper strips are from Scenic Route as well. The ribbon is May Arts.

For the center image I punched out a whisper white circle with my Mega circle punch from Uchida. I stamped the background stamp from You Make Me Happy on it with More Mustard and added the sentiment with chocolate chip. I sponged the edges of the circle and a bit on the inside with More Mustard ink to mute the “whiteness”.

The flower head is inked up with Ruby Red classic ink, outlined with chocolate chip marker and sprayed with my water mist bottle before I stamped it on white cardstock. I then sponged More Mustard and a tad of Pumpkin Pie in the center. For the center I punched out a 1/2″ circle of the Au Chocolat paper and sponged the two dots with More Mustard. It just didn’t seem right having just two dots in there. So I added more with my white gel pen. I left those white. The stem of the flower is made with Blender pen and True Thyme reinker.

The dragonfly is inked up with True Thyme, stamped off once, outlined with Really Rust Marker, water misted and then stamped  on white cardstock and cut out.

Last I added the Sakura Glitter pen over the flower and dragonfly.

Thank you for dinner invite

Rick was invited to a dinner party at his bosses house. Well….we all were invited, but only he went. He bought a wine bottle and asked me to make a thank you card for him.

carte-postale-covered-wine.jpg

I wrapped the bottle in Enchante Designer paper and made a 4″x4″ card to match. After snapping the picture I thought I should have used Artichoke cardstock instead of the Old Olive one for the scalloped circle.

For the paper wrap, I cut my designer paper down to 8″ x 9 1/2″. I added sticky strip on one 8″ side, wrapped it tight around the bottle and taped it down onto the other side of the paper. I then used the leftover 2 1/2″ x 10′ strip, flipped it over and taped it down on the first wrap. Lastly I added a white and green organdry ribbon and secured the card on it with a paper clip from the Aged Brass Hodgepodge Hardware kit.

Rick said it was  a hit anyway! His boss is from New Orleans so Rick picked this stamp from the Carte Postale set for the center image. I used Pale Plum to ink up the stamp and added Perfect Plum around the edges. Then I sprayed it with my water mister and stamped it on vanilla cardstock. The card base is Perfect Plum cardstock stamped with Perfect Plum ink and the French Flair Background. I sponged the outside edges of the card. The saying is from Warmest Regard stamped in black Palette ink.

I hope Carte Postale and French Flair will be in the Fall/Winter catalog. Those sets are so pretty!!!

Mondays are always super busy for me. I am already on my fourth load of laundry, went to the post office (Julee…it’s in the mail already) and the bank, worked on SCS work and dusted the house. No stamping yet for me. I hope to get my fingers inky soon!

Julee T. (Shadowcatcher) Says: This is such a fun sketch, Beate! I did “follow the link” and ended up purchasing several of the Stampendous bees (among other things) at Eclectic Paperie. I made two cards for your challenge, they are posted on my blog at http://poeticartistry.blogspot.com/2007/05/reader-tag.html. Thanks for the inspiration!

Diana’s Triangle Trifold

I wrote a couple of tutorials for Diana’s new product, the Scor-Pal. Like the name implies, it is a scoring device. It’s easy to use and light weight. I had a blast playing with it.

Diana send me this beautful thank you card. I hope the Carte Postale set from the Winter mini will make it in the upcoming new big idea and catalog. I love the vintage looking card it creates. Thank you Diana! It is absolutely gorgeous!
