Challenge card revised

baroque-motifs-wsc8-revised.jpg

After seeing my Baroque Motifs card from yesterday on my blog, I thought the proportions were a little off. So when I stamped it again, I started with a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of River Rock cardstock folded in half. The Soft Sky cardstock piece measures 2″ x 4 1/4″, the chocolate chip cardstock 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″. The rest of the card is still the same.

I like it better this way. We will be going to the beach today. I haven’t been there for like 3 weeks and miss it like crazy. Hot sunshine, warm ocean water and white, fine sand….what more can you want? Okay….a cooler full of diet coke, but that I will have! Have a wonderful afternoon.

Another card for my sketch challenge

For this card I used the mirror image of my sketch. I always have to change something, even on my own sketches. How sad is that? LOL

all-about-graditude-wsc_8.jpg

For this card I started out with the sketch (obviously). I knew I wanted to use the All About Graditude wheel from the new level 3 hostess combo. I am still not to fond of Wild Wasabi and challenged myself to use that new In Color.

The card base is a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock folded in half. I wheeled the jumbo wheel with chocolate chip over Soft Sky cardstock.

Then I wheeled the flower of that wheel on white cardstock and cut it out. I stamped one of the Little Pieces stamps on Groovy Guava cardstock and cut it out for the center. I tried the1/4″ circle punch, which was too small, the 1/2″ was too big. So I  eyeballed it and cut it out by hand. Not quite circular, but good enough for me. I added a brad from the Vintage brads in the center and adhered it with dimensionals.

I inked up the flower from All About Occasions in Groovy Guava and then Rock n’ Rolled the edges in chocolate chip ink. The flower was stamped on whisper white cardstock and cut out. I then added a chocolate button and white fibers to finish it off.

The saying “You Rock” is part of the big Jumbo Wheel. My friend is stamped with stamps from Amazing to Zany.

Fun Blogger RAK from Amanda Sewell

I got several gorgeous cards while I was gone. I will start sharing one every morning.

Weekend Sketch challenge #8 sample card

My emails will have to wait until tonight. I have my downline and friend Stephanie over and we are stamping. Here is my card for this weekend’s sketch challenge:

baroque-motifs-wsc8.jpg

I picked the color combo (River Rock, Chocolate chip, Soft Sky) from the new idea book and catalog. If you haven’t seen it, it’s simply unbelievably gorgeous. The new sets, the samples and the accesssories.

The card base is 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ River Rock cardstock folded in half. All stamps are from the Baroque Motifs set. I just LOVE this set! The card is pretty simple in fast! I love those! A little bling (new Jewel Brads from Stampin’ Up!), a bit of paper piercing and May Arts ribbon and I was done.

Off to make some more of those so I can send them out for my previous challenge winners.

Hugs and smiles

Weekend Sketch Challenge #8

Well….my work emails were down to 70 last night at 10 p.m. I worked all day. This morning the number was back up to 90. I hope to get done today. I haven’t made a sample for this sketch challenge yet, but I will! As soon as I can. I just thought I post it in the morning, so some of you might get to play already.

I found this layout in May’s Creative Keepsakes magazine. I think it was on page 31. I thought it would be perfect for a card. Shortly after I made my sketch, I even saw a card made with this layout on SCS. I can’t remember who made it though.

This week’s challenge will run until Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. CST. The winner will receive some retired SU triangle eyelets.

To enter the drawing, post a card made with this sketch somewhere online: SCS, your blog, another site…. Then post a link to your card as a comment to this post.

I can’t wait to see your take on this sketch. Hugs and smiles

Updates

I have been up since 4:30 a.m. I am still not over the time change. I get up early and feel like it’s after midnight at 8 p.m.

Well….I got caught up with my personal emails and pm’s, but when I checked my help emails from SCS, I found 200 waiting there for me to work on. I am stressing out badly. I got 60 done so far.

I updated the Sale page. Go and check it out. I added Mini catalog sets that won’t be sold in the new catalog. If you have reserved a set for sale in the last few weeks, now is the time to send payment, so I can send the set out on the first. Please contact me.

I don’t think I will get any stamping done today either. I can’t create with all that work sitting there waiting for me.

061307-felsenmeer-first-vie.jpg

So to post something fun from our vacation. I will show you some pictures of our trip to the Felsenmeer. It’s located in the Odenwald, only 40 minutes from my Mom’s house. The kids and I go there everytime we visit. We only made it up half way….I wussed out. My Mom came with us. The walk way next to the rocks was slippery and she already had 2 hip replacements. I was scared for her on the steep way down. That’s the only reason. No, it was not because I am out of shape. LOL

Basically it’s just a BIG hill filled with huge rocks. It’s a blast to climb up on those. This picture is the first view you get once you approach the hill from the parking lot. Click on more to see some more pictures.

We are back!

We came back yesterday around 10 a.m. We were supposed to arrive the evening before. But after 6 hours of layover in Atlanta, the layover turned to nine hours and then our flight was completely cancelled until the next morning.

We were beyond tired when we got home. It’s so hard to sleep in a COLD airport on uncomfortable airport seats and we only got maybe 3 hours of sleep. We got up for the flight on  Monday morning at 5:30 a.m., which is Sunday evening at 10:30 p.m. CST. We didn’t get to sleep until after midnight and only then for a short while.

But we got home, no luggage was lost and we slept wonderful in our own beds last night. I am still tired and a bit off, so I don’t think you will see new artwork on my blog today.

I did get the new idea book and catalog yesterday and drooled all over the pages. I will definitely put a big order in in July. I can’t wait!

burg-mayen.jpg

This castle stands in the middle of a little town called Mayen. I have family living there (in the town, not the castle!). The kids and I went to a slate museum underneath and climbed all the way on top of the tower. Like most days of our visit, it rained that day. It started just as we reached the top. It was still a great castle to explore.

Heartfelt Sympathy

Today we will travel back to the States. Please keep us in our thoughts on this LONG day. At least the jet lag going back won’t be so bad. We get back into Florida about 8:30 p.m. By the time we get home it’s time for bed!

Rick needed a card for one of his men that lost his Dad. Rick wanted it to be very simple.

heartfelt-sympathy-outside.jpg

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of chocolate chip cardstock folded halfway. The patterned paper is from the Simply Scrappin’ At Home kit. I inked up the Heartfelt Thanks flower with Cranberry crisp and Mellow moss and stamped it two times in full force, once stamped off on Shimmery White cardstock. Cindy Lyles had a great card on her blog recently adding Glassy Glaze over the stamped image to achieve a dewy look. I did that on my flowers. I stamped Heartfelt underneath and stippled first So Saffron in the center, then brocade blue on the outside of the image.

I paper pierced the top two corners and added an ivory organdy ribbon, that Rick made me take off later. (MAN cards don’t need ribbon!). The saying is from Warm Regards.

Baby girl Jacob’s Ladder

I made another Jacob’s Ladder for one of my downline. She is expecting a baby girl in July. They aren’t 100% sure what they will name her, so I didn’t add a name to the front.

oh-my-word-jacobs-ladder-c.jpg

I love making those little books. They are so much fun to make. For this one I stamped the baby carriage from last year’s hostess set Oh My Word in pretty in pink on Shimmery white cardstock.  The next layer is Rose red, the following Pretty in Pink stamped with the Aida Background. Before adding the last layer of Rose Red cardstock I tied white organdy ribbon around the layered image.

All coasters were covered with the pink multi colored polka dot paper from Petals & Paisley Designer paper. I glued them on with Stampin’ Up!’s glue stick and sanded the edges with a sanding block.

I added a faux stitching around the last layer of the Rose red to make it look softer. I stamped precious Moments from Expressive Flexible Phrases on shimmery white cardstock in Rose red and punched it out with the  1 1/4″ circle punch. I stamped the heart from A-Z accents over it in Pretty in Pink. Then I added a dotted border on the outside of the white cardstock and taped it on a 1 3/8″ Rose Red Circle.

oh-my-word-baby-girl-jacob.jpg

I added a 3 1/2″ Rose Red layer on all covered coasters and used white organdy ribbon to make the Jacob ladder. Now Maria will just have to add photos of her soon to be born baby girl and it will be done!
