Here is a tiny version of this weekend’s sketch. It’s a 3″x3″ card. I tried to make it a “warm up card Val’ style”, but it took me way longer then 15 minutes to figure it out.

I knew I wanted to use some scraps from my POP paper. I started out using a 2 3/4″ square of apricot paper on a 3″x3″ white card, but that didn’t look quite right. So I cut one of my Apricot pieces of paper in half and folded it for my card base. Next I used a tiny strip of celery POP paper for my horizontal layer.

The image is from Little Hello’s, another cute set that will retire next month. I stamped it with Black Palette ink on shimmery white cardstock and colored it in with Aqua painter and classic inks: Apricot Appeal, Pumpkin Pie, Certainly Celery, Close to Cocoa and Bashful Blue. I punched it out with a 1 1/2″ circle punch and taped it on to a scrap piece of black cardstock. I used my decorated scissors to make the scallop border.

I had to hold myself back from not using the Argyle stamp from All in a Row. Instead I used the tiny flower border on the bottom of the Celery strip. The flower is punched out of Shimmery White cardstock with the Spring Flower punch. I added a vintage brad in the center as well as three underneath as a stem.

Last I stamped the saying in black on shimmery white and slipped it under the celery strip.

Such a simple card. You would think it was done in no time at all. Don’t know what the heck took me so long. I bet I fiddled on that thing for 30-40 minutes.

  11. great card! I’m probably the only one who is glad Little Hellos is retiring. Not that I don’t like the images. It’s just that my set had warped rubber and it just refused to stick to the blocks. I even stacked some weight on them and left them for days, but no. I could go on and on about my efforts but it’s your blog not mine. But just in case anyone wonders why I didn’t just send them back. I had the set for who knows how long before I actually tried to assemble it and my demo (me) quit so I thought it was too late.

  12. Such a cute card! Love the details!
