Coaster book

I made this little book out of coasters.

easter-book-front.jpg

I used the Bunny Hug stamp set and Petals & Paisley Designer paper. I added ribbon on the backing for a different look. To find out how to make those little books, check out my tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.

Weekend Sketch Challenge #6

One of my cards I send in was a round card. This will be the sample for this weeks sketch challenge.  I haven’t figured out how to make circular sketches with Adobe Photoshop yet, so my sample will have to do.

Working boy

I entered the Artisan Award, but wasn’t picked. While I am gone, I will show my entries, so my blog doesn’t feel deserted.

always-at-work-lucas.jpg

This is a 12″x12″ page. I love the shot of Lucas.

The paper is from the Petals & Paisley Designer paper pack. The big A is a monogram, the rest of the letters are from Big Deal Alpha. Big Lucas is stamped with Chocolate Chip craft ink and Short Order Alpha.

Frayed fabric Baroque Motifs

I had to use my Baroque Motifs stamps one more time. This is the last post with new stamps for a while. I will get to play more once I am back from Germany. But don’t worry. I have a post lined up for every day that I am gone.

I started out with last weeks sketch from the blog: Sketch This.

sketchthiscards151.jpg

Since the card sketch didn’t look like a regular size card, I made the card base 4 1/4″ x 10″ and folded it in half. Next I cut a 4″ x 4 3/4″ piece of the gorgeous new designer paper called Brocade Background and frayed the edges with the cutting tool kit from Stampin’ Up!

I stamped the edges of the paper with - you guessed it - the outline Argyle stamp from All in a Row. I can’t help myself. I am totally addicted to this stamp. If I don’t stamp my card with it, it looks nakked somehow. I really like how the frayed paper looks with that stamp. Almost like stitched frayed fabric.

Since I don’t have Purlely Pomegranate Print paper yet, I used the Rose Red paper from the POP pack and sponged it with Purely Pomegranate. Under it is a small layer of a patterned paper from the Brocade Background paper.

The flower is a triple flower. The first layer is the big non flower like image from Baroque Motifs. I stamped it in River Rock on Shimmery white cardstock. Next is the large flower in Purely Pomegranate followed by the small flower in Chocolate chip. The center is a brad from the vintage brad collection. Last I stamped cherish in chocolate chip on the horizontal strip.

We made it!

After a very bumpy ride through bad weather we arrived in Germany at 11 a.m. local time, 4 a.m. CST. We all had about three hours of sleep.  But we stayed up until 9 p.m. Then we crashed hard and didn’t wake again until 11 a.m. Wednesday morning. We had a trip planned for after lunch, but my uncle phoned and will come over in a little while.

Hopefully I get some cool shots to share with zou soon.

Got to go. Uncle Rudi just got here. Hugs and smiles

Pick a Petal Funky style

It was harder then I thought making a flower with those petals. I think next time I stamp and cut the petals out before putting them together to make a flower.

pick-a-petal-doodled-caribe.jpg

This card started out with a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ Cool Caribbean piece of cardstock folded in half, layered with a 5″ square of black cardstock and a piece of 4 3/4″ white cardstock. On the white cardstock I used the ticket corner punch on all four corners.

For the main image I stamped the Polka Dotted Petal six times to make the flower. I just eyeballed it and my trashcan could tell you that I needed several tries. It was too light looking so I outlined it with my black Micron Pen 03. Once I was done I cut around the petals with my decorative scissors.

The flower center is stamped in Black stazon with the solid round stamp provided in the Pick a Petal stamp set. I doodled little half circles around it, punched it out with the 3/4″ circle punch and adhered it in the center of the flower.

I traced a grosgrain ribbon spool to make the basic black layer and cut one end off. Then I doodled around the edges and added the flower in the center.

Next I stamped the outline flower center from Pick a Petal three times in black on Cool Caribbean and cut it out. Then I used the Punch from the Three for you Punch box to make little Black and Caribbean flowers. the black flowers have white centers drawn with the white gel pen (we NEED white brads) and the black Caribbean flowers sport some black brads from the vintage collection.

Last I added the saying from Sweet Shapes and doodled on the border of the white cardstock.
