Paper piecing curves

I love working with circles and ovals and I love paper piercing. Here is a quick and easy tutorial on how to paper pierce curves.

Supplies:

  • Paper piercing tools
  • curved cardstock

Step one:

Begin by lining up your guide line with the end of your cardstock. I lined the second, thinner line up with the end of the white cardstock.

Step two:

Paper pierce until the guide line doesn’t connect with the end of the white cardstock anymore. Keep the paper piercing tool in the last pierced hole and move the paper piercing template over until the guide line lines up with the cardstock again.

Step three:

Continue to pierce and turn.

Still kinda like the weekend sketch….

…..although I put a whole circle over the horizontal strip, instead of having a part circle showing on top of it.

year-after-year-elephant-th.jpg

Ever since Lucas, my 10 year old, saw the elephant, he wanted me to make a card saying

THANKS A TON

Well, I started this card out to make a card with his suggestion. I loved the idea! In the end…I FORGOT until it was all done. Talk about spacing out. I will have to try again. LOL

I started out with a 4 1/2″ x 9″ piece of Blue Bayou cardstock folded in half. I stamped the elephant from Year after Year first in black on Soft Sky Designer paper, then again on a whisper white circle. I cut out my Soft sky elephant and taped it over the elephant on the white circle. I added some shadow with soft sky ink and aqua painter and taped it on a black scallop circle.

I used dotted Saffron Designer paper over soft sky cardstock and stamped All in a Row stitching all over.

The saying is from the Take Three stamp set. I added three Ice Jewel brads on the side. I LOVE that we now carry bling in the catalog. I can’t wait to order Stampin’ Up!s new Pretties kit. It contains flowers, head pins, clear brads and pearls!!!!
