While working on the sketch  for this weekend’s challenge, I knew right away I wanted to make a square card with it. I just LOVE square cards.

Well….this card started out as a 5 1/4″ Really Rust Square card. I fiddled with it for over an hour and finally gave up. I tried adding the swirl from Priceless, I tried adding other things….nothing worked. The top right was simply too blank.

So I cut it down to a 4 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ card. Now it has a bit of a weird size, but I  like it better.  I can’t believe I couldn’t get my square card to work. LOL That’s definitely a first.

I stamped the entire card front with Linen background in Really Rust and sponged the edges.  Both patterned paper layers are from the Fall Flower Designer Paper pack.

The vertical piece measures 2 1/2″ x 4″ and is layered on Chocolate chip cardstock. I stamped the Argyle stamp from All in a Row in Chocolate Chip for my Faux Stitching. I added a double photo corner in shimmery white and Linen stamped Blue bayou on the top right and topped it off with five Bashful Blue brads.

My horizontal piece measures 2 1/4″ x 4″ and is layered on Old Olive cardstock. On the top I added a piece of shimmery white scallop, that I made with my corner rounder punch. Blue Bayou double stitched ribbon was wrapped around all layers.

Once I taped both layers on my card base, I added three vintage brads on the bottom right and started on my center image.

Jenn Diercks found a new way to use the All in a Row stamp and I had to try it out right away. I stamped the butterfly from Just Like you in Blue Bayou on Shimmery White cardstock and punched it out with the 1 1/4″ circle punch. That was layered on a 1 3/8″ Old Olive circle. The base is a Shimmery White punchout made with the new scallop circle punch (Thank you Stephanie for letting me borrow it until next week!!!). In each scallop I stamped one little asterix of one of the All in a Row stamps in Soft Sky Classic ink.

Last I outlined the butterfly with my glue pen and added Dazzing Diamond glitter to it.

  4. I knew you would have to try it right away! Isn’t it fun? Now I’m addicted to this set for another reason besides the faux stitching. Tomorrow I’m going to see what other way I can use the All in a Row with the scallops. Not enough time today.

It is full of so many wonderful ideas. I love the colors and I MUST order some Shimmery White cardstock and the scallop punch. I haven’t ordered ANYTHING from the new catalog yet, isn’t that a shame? My list just keeps growing, lol. TFS.
