Featured Stamper Challenge: Jen70

Jen70 is our wonderful Limited Supply Challenge hostess on SCS. She was the Featured stamper in today’s challenge. Check out her awesome splitcoast gallery by clicking on her name, or find more of her work on her blog Stamping Therapy. For featured stamper challenges, I always browse the galleries for great layouts. Usually layouts are my starting point with most cards and I work from there.

I picked this card from Jen, because I thought it was a simple, but great layout. I should have known that simple looking layouts aren’t always that simple. I played around with this for quite a while. I am still not 100% happy with it, but this is how it will stay.

It’s very dark here and it looks like we are going to have a bad thunderstorm in a minute. I don’t like to work in artifical light.

This card started out as a rectangle, but in one of my many changes, it got chopped down to a 4 1/4″ square card. I used Almost Amethyst Prints designer paper, because my downline Stephanie recently laughed about my purple-phobia. Maybe that’s why I had such a hard time with the card. LOL

The card is pretty self explanatory, so I will just post it’s recipe. I think I will lay down and take a nap. Dang…it’s dark here!

Stamps: Artfully Asian, All in a Row

Ink: Chocolate chip, Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery Classic Inks

Paper: Chocolate chip and Shimmery White cardstock, Almost Amethyst and Certainly Celery Prints Designer Paper

Acc.: 1 3/8″ and Scallop circle punch, photo corner punch, ticket corner punch, Ice Jewel Brads, Bold & Brights Brads, dimensionals

Have a great Sunday Afternoon. Oh oh….heard the first thunder!

Scrapbook Sunday #2: Sweet girl on Halloween

I will try to start posting a scrapbook  page every Sunday. Right now I still have display stamper images to show off, but hopefully this resolution (is that the right word for it?) will help me motivated to scrapbook more.

This is an 8 1/2″ x 11″ scrapbook page for the Build a Flower tin! It was hard for me to work with the stickers….especially the green and purple ones.

The wavy stripes on the page are painted on with craft refill. I painted the white stripe with the wide watercolor brush and white craft reinker fluid. Once it was dry I added a small stripe of lovely lilac  on the outside of the white stripe.  I added circles and flowers from Seeing Spots in Lovely Lilac Craft ink over both stripes. I journaled with a Lovely Lilac Journaling marker (I just saw that those were retired. Am I slow or what?) on the bottom of the white stripe.

I also added a few brushstrokes of white underneath the photo to make the title Sweet Smile (stamped with the retired Whimsical Alphabet in Lovely Lilac craft ink).

rak-mary-brown.jpg

If you are a demonstrator, you know the name Mary Brown.

Mary is an amazing artist. She has been a display stamper several times and has won multiple Stampin’ Up! contests.

Mary is a sweet online friend of mine. We recently did a trade and look what she sent me besides my sets? Two altered notebooks!!!

This one is made with the In the Spotlight Hostess set.  I didn’t take a picture of the other one yet. I will share it with you soon.

Make sure you check out Mary’s blog for more wonderful samples!
