SCS inspiration challenge and CPS sketch

When I saw today’s inspiration challenge, I knew I had to participate.

Those of you who read my blog frequently are already smiling to themselves. Yes, this bedspread has lots of chocolate chip, which is absolutely my favorite color.

I wrote down this color combo: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Apricot Appeal, Pretty in Pink and Purely Pomegranate. I also wrote down flowers and swirls.

I looked through the catalog trying to decide what stamps I should use. I narrowed it down to Flowers & Flourishes or Ginormous flowers. Next I looked through my paper stacks for the perfect papers. I picked the Linen Designer Paper.

Now I needed a layout. Looking through several sketch blogs, I decided on the newest CPS sketch. cps-_26.jpg

Lately I have been laughing at myself for using Chocolate Chip cardstock as my card base so often. This time I didn’t  feel  guilty about it. The card base is a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Chocolate chip cardstock folded in half. I stamped the Swirl from Baroque Motifs from the left bottom to the top right of the card in chocolate chip.

I took a flower from the Pretties Kit and sponged it with a sponge dauber and Purely Pomegranate ink. I added an Fire Circle Jewel brad in it’s center.

The saying from the Flowers & Flourish stamp set is stamped in chocolate chip on Shimmery white cardstock. To balance the double Photo corner on the top left out, I added a paper pierced corner to the bottom right of that saying.

I paper pierced the edges of the pink patterned paper, and stamped the Argyle stamp from All in a Row on the funky flower pattern paper. Over the funky paper I added some ribbon.  The double ribbon is from the Ribbon Originals Pack: Sherbert, tied together with White Taffeta ribbon.

All patterned paper is from the Linen Prints Designer paper.

On the thin vertical strip I added three Brass Jumbo eyelets with the help of one of my favorite new tools, the Crop-a-dile. How did I ever function without one????

Sweet baby girl

Here is another card with this weekend’s sketch. This time I went the other way and made a girly, girl card.

garden-whimsy-sweet-baby-gi.jpg

The card base is a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Rose Red cardstock.

Next is a 5″ Pretty in pink square, stamped with Aida background and sponged around the edges.

The bottom two corners were punched with the ticket corner punch.

The horizontal layer is a 2 1/4″ x 4 3/4″ piece of Petals & Paisley designer paper. I added a shimmery white scallop border on top. I had made it with my corner rounder. Again, the bottom two corners were trimmed with the ticket corner punch.

The vertical layer is a piece from the retired Love me Designer paper, layered on a piece of shimmery white cardstock. I added a strip of rose red ribbon from the Fairy Tail Ribbon Originals and tied white taffeta ribbon over that. Next I used a hat pin from the Pretties kit for the first time. Julia’s Ways to use it challenge this week was to use pins on your project.

For the main image I stamped the big butterfly from Garden Whimsy in Rose Red on Shimmery white cardstock twice. One I kept for my main panel, the other I cut out, layered over the main panel and added Dazzling Diamond glitter to. I punched the left two corners of the main panel with the ticket corner punch and added the solid little circle row from All in a Row around the edges of that panel. I layered it on Rose Red cardstock and adhered it just a tad under the ribbon.

I stamped the saying from Holidays & Wishes on Shimmery white cardstock, cut it down so it would fit in the Window word punch and punched the left edge with it. Last I added a little flower and clear jewel from the Pretties kit over the saying.
