Technique Lover Challenge

I haven’t participated in a Technique Lover Challenge for the longest time. I knew I had to make a card for today’s challenge though. Today’s challenge was to make a  Cami Trifold. I love Cami. Her work is amazing and she is the sweetest person. So after I cleaned (before I showered, yucky…but the sweating had to stop first) I made this card.

The card base is a  5 1/2″ x 11 1/2″ piece of Soft Sky Textured cardstock, scored at 3 3/4″ and 7 1/2″. I used a 3 1/4″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Holiday Harmony Designer paper on the front panel, after punching out the bottom two corners with the ticket corner punch. Next I taped a Chocolate Chip Giga Scallop punch-out (Marvy Uchida) on the it and cut out my window with my Coluzzle.

I stamped Merry Christmas from the Season of Joyset on Shimmery White cardstock in chocolate chip, punched it out with the large oval punch and taped it to the bottom left. Over it I layered a large oval from the Antique Copper Hodgepodge Hardware. I also added two brads from that kit on the left next to the oval window.

I stamped the snowflake from the same set in Always Artichoke on shimmery white, cut it out, added a Ice Circle Jewel brad in it’s center and adhered it with a dimensional.

For the left panel on the inside I layered a 3″ x 5″ piece of Shimmery White on a 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Always Artichoke. I punched each corner with the ticket corner punch.

I stamped the Tree from Season of Joy so it would show through my window. I inked up the tree completely with Always Artichoke, then used a wet q-tip to remove the ink from the tree trunk and star. The star was inked with River Rock, the tree trunk with Chocolate chip.

I added the border with Chocolate Chip and All in a Row. The saying from Star Studded Season is also stamped in chocolate chip. The swirls are from Season of Joy and stamped in River rock.

Last I added Dazzling Diamond glitter on the tree and star.

For the center panel I added another piece of the Holiday Harmony Designer paper to cover up the brads from the front. I sanded over the paper a bit with my sanding block.

The left panel had a 1″ x 5 1/2″ strip of shimmery white cardstock added. I used my corner rounder to make the scalloped border.

Last I used the slit punch to punch the tab on the left hand side, added a paper clip from the Antique Copper Hodgepodge Hardware and some River Rock double stitched grosgrain Ribbon.

Casing Melissa

Sunday’s Featured stamper was Melissa Wohler. Her blog is Sweetie’s Stamping.

I looked through her SCS gallery and saw that she had several cards made with this layout. I decided to case that it, with new stamps of course.

I made this card Saturday night, but I knew I would be busy Monday morning with first day of school and deep cleaning the house (I like cleaning the house so much better when everyone is gone. Then the house stays clean and picked up at least until the get back home from school). So I held off posting this until now.

The card base is a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Soft Sky cardstock folded in half.

I adhered a 2 1/4″ x 5″ and a 3 1/4″ x 5″ piece of Wintergreen designer paper to a 5″ square and ticket corner punched the bottom two corners.

Over the place where the papers meet, I layered first a piece of 5/8″ Certainly Celery Grosgrain Ribbon, then a piece of the velvet ribbon from the Sherbert Ribbon original pack over that.

I stamped the saying stamp from the set Season of Joy in Soft Sky, then added Always Artichoke over some places with a marker to highlight Celebrate and Joy!

The Snowflakes are stamped in Always Artichoke and punched with the 1 1/4″ circle punch. I added silver brads in the center of each snowflake and was done. This was a fast challenge card!

If I was living in a colder place, where there is actual snow in the winter, I think this would be my Christmas card.
