Today’s Color challenge was to use Groovy Guava and Soft Sky together. Good thing Chocolate chip counts as a neutral color and I can throw it in there. LOL

I haven’t made a card with a sketch from Di Hickman in a while and picked this one for my card today.

I really liked the look of this layout.

 I started with a 5 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece Groovy Guava Cardstock folded in half.

Next I cut a 4″ square from Soft Sky Prints Designer paper and used the corner rounder on one corner. After I placed it on the card base, my card still looked too dull. I needed a way to step it up a bit. And since I was going for soft and elegant, my sweet All in a Row wouldn’t do.

So I stamped the swirl from Priceless in Soft Sky on the Designer paper and in Groovy Guava on the card base.

Next I cut a 4 1/4″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock and added scallops on two sides with the corner rounder.  The corner was a bit tricky, but I worked it out after a small string of not so kid friendly words.

I taped my Soft sky paper on the scalloped white layer, cut down the white layer a bit more and taped it on the card.

I sponged Groovy Guava with a sponge dauber in the center of the big flower in the Pretties kit, topped it with another smaller flower from the same kit, that I had sponged in chocolate chip first, and topped it off with a large Ice Circle Jewel brad.

I added 5/8″ chocolate chip grosgrain on the upper part of the card and placed a small flower over that.

The saying is from the set Holidays & Wishes and is stamped in Chocolate Chip.

The card still needed some umpf….preferably in chocolate. I wish we had some nice Chocolate Chip Brads. I would buy lots and lots of those. Since we don’t, I punched a bunch of circles out of Chocolate Chip cardstock with my Crop-a-dile and taped it on.

Done! It looks real pretty and soft IRL. At least it does to me.

My downline Stephanie is coming over again! I can’t wait to stamp with her. It’s so much more fun to stamp with friends! We will meet a What-a-burger for a nice juicy burger and fries…..HMMMMMM I LOVE burgers.

  1. I was not sure what you would do with that sketch. Holy Moly, that is simply gorgeous. The sponging in the flower and the ribbon with the soft and simple sentiment. PERFECTO!

  5. Beautiful card Beate! And thanks for giving me another source of layouts!

  6. Love what you did…………AGAIN! But I know I never would have had the patience to punch and tape all those CC dots! I would have punched through the other layer and then tape a thin strip of CC to the back. Did I say I have no patience!!!! Well sometimes!!!! And the brown flower in the middle looks like velvet to me!

    Hugs,
    Joan

  12. STUNNING card!!! This color combo is GREAT!! TFS.

PS: Have you tried using your Versamark/Versamarker to cover a plain silver brad and dipping it in Chocolate embossing powder. I have some that is also scented with chocolate! I love it. The only downside is the scent only last for five day so if you have to mail it you have to wait until the last minute. HTH
