Happiness: Good Friends, family, summer at the beach, creating with rubber stamps

Groovy Giraffe

Here is another card made for the sketch this weekend, as well as the Color Challenge from last Tuesday on SCS.

I love how this came out. I started out making it a baby card, but then I changed it to one for a girlfriend. Now that my So many Sayings are unmounted, it is becoming one of my favorite sets.

If I only had the courage to cut up my Happiness set like that. Maybe next weeks. Baby steps. I feel like I am mutilating the stamps when I keep them unmounted.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Groovy Guava cardstock, layered with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic black cardstock and a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Soft Sky Prints Designer paper. The corner of the black cardstock and the designer paper were punched with ticket corner punch.

The black photo corner was punched out with the Photo corner punch and silver brads were added. Then I doodled a border all around the Soft Sky Paper.

I punched two circles with my 1 1/4″ circle punch out of Shimmery white cardstock. I used the dotted background stamp from the Three For You Punch Kit in Groovy Guava to add the pattern and layered it on 1 3/8″ black circles. I layered those on a Groovy Guava scallop circle and a regular circle out of the same color. Last I doodled a border matching the border on the designer paper on the circles.

For my horizontal strips, I took a 1 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock. I added the scallop border with my corner rounder punch and punched out the holes with my Crop-a-dile. On top of that I layered a 1″ x 3 3/4″ strip of shimmery white and last a strip of ribbon from the Sherbert Ribbon Originals pack.

I stamped the giraffe from Wild About You on 1 7/8″ x 3″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock in Groovy Guava and outlined it with my black 03Micron pen. Micron pens are my favorite to doodle with. I punched the corners with the ticket corner punch and doodled a border around the outer edges of the image. The next layer was a 2 1/8″ x 3 1/4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock. I added silver brads in each corner, punched a slot with the horizontal slot punch and added Groovy Guava double stitched ribbon to the upper ride side.

The saying from So Many Sayings was stamped in black on Shimmery White cardstock, punched out with the small oval punch and topped with a small oval frame from the Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware kit.

Last I punched Groovy Guava and Soft Sky flowers with my Three For You Punch, layered them on my circles and topped them off with black vintage brads.

Scrapbook Sunday #4: Toddler Lucas

When Lucas was a year old, we moved from Virginia to Germany. I was excited to spend three years back in my home country. It was especially sweet because half a year before we got this assignment my Dad had been diagnosed with a certain form of Leukaemia. We knew he would only have three years to live. I felt so blessed that we got to move back “home”, so he could see my boys grow up a little.

We lived in the South of Germany, about one hour away from Stuttgart. One clear days we could see the mountains from the Schwaebische Alb from our kitchen window.

This picture makes me smile big time. Lucas was just so darn cute!  The picture was taken in a field at a deer park we used to go visit. It was only 20 minutes from our house. This saying from the Stem Sayings was absolutely perfect of this 6″ x 6″ page.

The bird from Fun & Fast Notes was stamped on Whisper White cardstock, colored with classic pads and aqua painter, cut out and mounted on a round metal edged tag.

The designer paper is from the retired Spring Flower pack. I had brushed white craft ink reinker  on the paper with my large watercolor brush, let it dry and then stamped the saying over it to make it more visible.
