Happiness: Good Friends, family, summer at the beach, creating with rubber stamps

New neighbors

I made this card on Saturday afternoon before heading over to our new neighbors. They had a house warming party combined with Mike’s birthday party. They are a sweet young couple, have a 18 month old son and expecting their second child in 2 month.

Anyhow….I needed a card to bring with us. I didn’t realize it was Mike’s birthday party until it was too late. I made a Welcome to the neighborhood card. I don’t have ONE stamp with a house, so I decided to make the card with my new stamps…

I started with my favorite card base, a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock, folded in half, top corner rounded and edges sponged.

I used this weekend’s sketch for the card. The left panel is a 2 3/4″ x 4″ piece of River Rock sponged, topped with a 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Apple Cider Designer paper.

I added swirls from the set Priceless to the Apple Cider layer in chocolate chip.

The left top and bottom corner on both panels were punched with the ticket corner punch. The edges were stamped with the outline Argyle stamp from All in a Row.

I stamped the medaillon from True Friend twice in Really Rust and once in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla cardstock. I cut out the Chocolate Chip one around the edges, the first Really Rust one around the inner solid part and the second rust one around the inner flower. I colored the inner flower with my chocolate chip marker, sponged the edges of all three layers and taped them on top of each other. I cut a piece of Really Rust as the bottom layer, sponged it and taped it to the rest of the layers, adding a Antique Brass brad in it’s center.

The Welcome was stamped with the Simple Serif Alpha in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla Cardstock. I sponged the edges first in River Rock, then in Chocolate chip, layered it on a sponged Really Rust piece and stamped the edges with my All in a Row stamp. I added a bit more hardware from the Antique Brass Hodgepodge kit and River Rock double stitched ribbon and was done.

Yesterday I was checking out most entries made this weekend and saw that Tara used the same paper, cardstock and set. How cool is that? I wonder if we were stamping at the same time too. LOL

Tracy Houghton sent me this beautiful card.

I absolutely love the colors and that she used Sanded with the Baroque Motifs swirl.

You can see more of Tracy’s work on her blog Tracy’s Happy Place.

Tracy, I love it! Thanks a million.
