Sunday’s Featured Stamper challenge was special. The featured stamper was Maddy Mason. She is an amazing stamper and artist. She hasn’t been posting since this spring, because she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Cindy Mothermark is running a RAK request to brighten Maddy’s days.

{If you are interested in sending Maddy a card yourself, email me for her address.}

I picked Maddy’s first challenge card to case. I took her layout and turned it into a RAK card for me to send  to her.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock folded in half and sponged the edges.

 The next layer is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Blue Bayou cardstock. The corners were punched with the ticket corner punch and the edges sponged.

Then comes a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Sahara Sand cardstock that was stamped with Tres Chic, the corners were punched and the edges sponged. Before taping this piece on to the Blue Bayou layer, I tied 5/8″ Chocolate Chip Grosgrain with Blue Bayou Double Stitched ribbon to the bottom part of the cardstock.

I stamped the flower stamp from Garden Silhouettes in Blue Bayou on Sahara Sand cardstock, cut it out with the Coluzzle and sponged the edges. I cut a 1/8″ bigger Blue Bayou oval, sponged the edges and paper pierced the border. Then I cut a 1/4″ bigger oval out of Chocolate Chip and added the scallop border with my corner rounder. I added some sparkle to the flower with my glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter.

I stamped the same flower stamp in second generation Sahara Sand on Sahara Sand and used Praying for you from  So Many Sayings in Blue Bayou over it. It was punched out with a 1″ circle punch, the edges sponged, layered it on a 1 1/4″ Blue Bayou circle that was sponged, paper pierced and distressed. That was layered on a 1 3/8″ Chocolate Chip circle.

I taped three sponged 1/4″ Chocolate Chip circles to the bottom right of the card and added an Antique Brad in each circles center. I also added a photo holder with brad to the bottom right of the saying. All hardware was from the Antique Brass Hodgepodge Hardware kit.

You know, I had Garden Silhouettes and traded it like an idiot. Every few days, I see something else made with it that I doink myself in the head cause I don’t have it.

  23. Beate, I love your blog and I am kind of new to all this stuff and seem overwhelmed sometimes. But I love all your cards and wanted to ask. When you say “sponged” the cardstock or the edges of it, what are you doing? I assume the obvious but you know when that happens….Donkey!! Thanks!!!

  29. Beate- I just wanted to say “Thanks” for giving me the inspiration I need for my demo. for this month’s Technique Club workshop (theme “Neat Ways to Use SU Tools.) I’m running a bit low on CS and am trying to wait ’til next month to place a big order. Your color combo and image were just the ticket. Here is the link to the bookmark card I made featuring the Cutter Kit and Color Spritzer Tool. It is to my SCS gallery because I don’t want to post it on my blog until after the workshop. Thanks again!
