Sketch and color challenge - Running horse

I am trying not to miss too many challenges this week. Austin felt good enough to do some make up work for school. So while he was doing his science assignments, I got to stamp!!! YEAH! I miss that.

sc144.jpgI wrote my next tutorial and got to make a card just for fun.

I made this card for the sketch challenge layout from yesterday as well as the Way to Use it challenge from today.

I started out with a 2 1/4″ x 5″ piece of Confetti White cardstock. I stamped the horse from Wanted first full force on the right hand side of the cardstock. Then I restamped it over and over moving it a bit more to the left each time to create the illusion of movement.

The cardstock seemed too long though and I cut it down to 2 1/4″ x 3 3/4″. I did try to stick to the sketch and make it a rectangular card. It just didn’t look right!

I colored the bottom part with Old Olive ink, the sky with Soft Sky ink and Aqua Painter. Then I added a little texture to the grass with one of the stamps from Oh, So Lovely (It was still on the table). The edges were distressed with the Cutter Kit.

The cardstock was layered on a 1/4″ bigger piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock, paper pierced and faux stitched with All in a Row. I added a double photo corner in the top left corner. The smaller corner is punched out of Creamy Caramel cardstock,  stamped with Paisley from Wanted and sponged. The bigger photo corner is punched out of Chocolate chip and sponged with the same color.  Three Pewter brads finish off the corner.

The horizontal Old Olive Panel measures 2 1/4″ x 4″. It was stamped with the lines from Happiness in Chocolate Chip and several stamps from Wanted in Old Olive. I then sponged the whole panel in Old Olive to darken it up, distressed the edges with the cutter kit and sponged it’s edges with Chocolate Chip. The top and bottom edge were stamped with the Argyle stamp from All in a Row and paper pierced. The top has two paper pierced rows, the bottom one.

The sentiment is stamped on Confetti White cardstock in Chocolate Chip and punched out with the small oval punch. It sponged and layered on a sponged 1″ Old Olive Circle and a sponged Chocolate Chip Designer label punchout. I connected two pieces of the Pewter Hodgepodge hardware (don’t know what to call those) to the ends and ran stamped and sponged Twill through it.

The card base is a 4 3/4″ x 9 1/2″ piece of sponged and stamped (with the medaillon from Wanted) piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock. The next layer is a sponged and distressed 4 1/2″ square of Old Olive cardstock.

The following layer is a 4 1/4″ square of Soft Sky Cardstock. I first stamped the Printed background on it in Soft Sky and sponged the cardstock with the same color. Next I stamped the background Sanded over it in Chocolate Chip. the edges were distressed and stamped with All in a Row.

Okay…usually I would proof read and add the links to the sets/accessories in the Stampin’ Up! catalog. But Austin is done and already loaded the game. Got to go! I hope I don’t have too many spelling errors in here.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

WSC21 winner

I am so sorry this is a day late. Yesterday I had a checkup in the clinic (boy..they always take their sweet time) and went grocery shopping afterwards. After unloading and having lunch, I dragged Austin to get a hair cut. Then it was time to pick up first Lucas, then Rebecca from bus/school. Then homework with Rebecca.

I tell you….the last two weeks I got nothing done. I HAVE to stamp today. I have so much to do. I hope I will be able to share something with you.

But first….Random.org picked Cindy Vernon as the winner of my last sketch challenge.

Cindy made this darling file folder card.

You can see more of her work on her blog Creating with the Heart.

Thanks to everyone who tried this not so easy challenge!!! The next two will be simple layouts, I promise!

Have a great day! Hugs and smiles
