Last weeks Challenge

When I wrote the tutorial for the File Folder card, I made another Wild Wasabi folder but never finished it.

Yesterday I finally decorated it. I really like how it came out.

The saying from Flowers & Flourishes is stamped in black on a 1 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ Confetti White cardstock.

The top right corner was corner rounded and the edges were paper pierced. The flower stem from Flowers & Flourishes was stamped in Wild Wasabi.

Then it was layered on a 2 1/8″ x 2 1/2″ piece of Basic Black cardstock, with a piece of Double Stitched Purely Pomegranate Ribbon tied around the bottom.

The big flower head was stamped with Purely Pomegranate on Confetti White cardstock, outlined with my black Micron pen and cut out. I then added a black punchout from the Three for you Punch, along with three silver brads in it’s center and adhered it to the card with dimensionals.

The edges of the cardstock and Darling Doodles Designer Paper were stamped with All in a Row to created the Faux stitched look. A small black photo corner was added to the bottom left corner and three silver brads were added.

For my insert I cut a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Confetti White. I cut the top down 3/8″ inch and left 1 1/4″ for the tab.

On the left side I added a 1 1/4″ x 5″ piece of Basic Black cardstock layered with a 1″ x 5″ piece of Wild Wasabi that had been stamped with the Argyle background from Background sampler.

As embellishment I added a black designer label punchout with two silver brads, layered with a 1″ Wild Wasabi circle and a Groovy Guava stamped and black outlined flower with Fire Rhinestone circle brad. I adhered it with one dimensional. The dimensional was placed on the right of the designer label.

When I slide the insert into the file folder, the designer label will slide over the file folder adding a nice extra touch.

Taking and editing pictures

I received several questions on how I take my pictures and what program I use to edit them. I thought I address it here on my blog.

Camera:

I own a Canon Digital Rebel XT.

I love it. I am not that great taking pictures, but with this camera, even my photos look good.

Software:

I use Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.o to edit my photos.

The frame inside my images is called recessed frame.  You can find it under Special Effects - Photo Effects -Frame.

The white frame around the image is called heavy noise. You can find that under Special Effects - Layer Styles - Inner Glows. To change the size of your “glow”, go to Layer - Layer Style.

Photo Set up:

I always take my pictures during day time.

I position a chair in front of my window, place a white 12″ x 12″ sheet of cardstock on the seat of the chair and one on the back .

Next I arrange my card and some accessories I used to make the card on the chair and take the picture.

I set my camera settings to no flash and take the picture.

That’s it! Easy Peasy (with the right tools…). Hugs and smiles
