Fabulous Brocade Flower

I stamped! I stamped this morning!

Since I was such a slacker all week, I made a card to match the color challenge as well as the limited supply challenge this week on SCS along with my weekend sketch challenge.

fabulous-brocade-flower-wsc.jpg

I started with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Purely Pomegranate cardstock. The edges were sponged.

Next is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Holiday Harmony Designer paper. I paper pierced the edges and sanded over them with my sanding block.

I used the big swirl stamp from Brocade Basics and stamped it in Purely Pomegranate on the bottom part of the paper.

The horizontal Designer paper is from the Holiday Harmony pack as well and measures 2 1/2″ x 3 1/2″.

Again I paper pierced and sanded the edges before layering it on a 1/8″ bigger piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I used the Swirl from Brocade Basics again and stamped it on this layer as well.

To make it match up with the swirl on the darker piece of designer paper, I left the 2 1/2″ wide strip longer then 3 1/2″ and cut it down later to have it match.

White Taffeta ribbon was tied around the layer.

I stamped the big flower from Fabulous flowers three times on Shimmery White cardstock. I cut all three out in different sizes and layered them with dimensionals. Then I added sparkle with my Star Dust Stickles. After it dried I attached it to the card with more dimensionals.

I stamped the saying from Warm Words in Purely Pomegranate on a piece of the lighter colored Designer paper and punched it out with the small oval punch. I sanded it’s edges and layered it first on a 1″ shimmery white, paper pierced circle then on a sponged Purely Pomegranate designer label punchout.

I really wanted to add Clear Rhinestone brads from the Pretties kit in the center of the tiny shimmery white flower. I had punched it out with the Three for you punch. But the Limited supply challenges did NOT list hardware as embellishment. Only ribbon. So I added a Purely pomegranate center, sponged the flowers edges and added more Star Dust Stickles.

Weekend Sketch Challenge #24 and 800,000 Fresh & Fun Freebies

Again, sorry that I am so quiet. I can’t get back into my stamp rhythm. Yesterday was dark here all day. I have a hard time stamping when I can’t see the sun. I don’t know why.Thank goodness we only had horrid rain falls, Pensacola (an hour away from us) got hit by a tornado and we were under Tornado warning for a while.

Can you believe the ticker just passed 800,000??? Because of that, the winner of this sketch challenge will receive an unmounted set of “Stamp of Authenticity“. I guess with that many hits I am a genuine blogger. LOL

I like easy sketches. Can you tell?

wsc-_24.jpg

To participate in the challenge and be entered in the stamp set raffle, make a card with this layout and upload it either to your blog, or to an online gallery.

If you upload your card on SCS, put WSC24  (NO SPACE INBETWEEN WSC AND 24) in the keyword section. That way we can look at all of them at once!

Post a link to your card to THIS blog entry as a comment. Please add your entry# to it.

I will determine the winner of the clear stamps with Random.org on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m.

 tree-for-all-seasons-simply.jpg

I used my little tree card as inspiration for today’s sketch.

I made the sketch into a rectangle, since last weeks sketch challenge was a square.

I will post a new sample for this sketch later.

To see samples made with this sketch now, check out the blogs of

Charmaine Ikach

Sharon Harnist

Have fun creating! I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Portland!

I had such a wonderful time in Portland. It was only my second time on the West Coast. Like the first time, when Jenn and I boarded the cruise ship in San Diego, this time we didn’t have time to go sight seeing either.

I arrived Thursday night. Lori Craig had booked a suite for six of us: Beverly Gerard, aka. Texasgrammy, Julie Ebersole, Lori Craig, Sharon Harnist, Jenn Balcer and I.

Jenn and Sharon didn’t arrive until after midnight local time. And you know we can’t just go to sleep right after getting together for the first time in a long time. So that night was very short.

The room next to us was booked by Cambria Turnbow and Joy Kennedy.

It was the first time for me to meet Cami and Lori. It was long overdue.

Friday was Stampin’ Up!’s regional. I met more SCS members that I had never met before. I LOVE going to events just to hang with friends and meet new ones. It’s simply the best.

 camis-presentation.jpg

Cami was a presenter at the regional.

 Did she ever WOW us!!!

You can find a tutorial for those sweet treat bags on her blog: Stamp a little love baby.

Friday night we went to the Rock Bottom Bar for the SCS dinner. That was so much fun!

After going back to the hotel, Julie treated us to Appletinis. I usually don’t like alcohol. I haven’t found a drink I like the taste of. Appletinis weren’t half bad though. LOL

So again….sleep was sacrified for fun.

Saturday morning was great. Daven, Tracy, Adam, Sara, Scott, Lori, Jenn and I held a full fledged team meeting. I am smiling while I am writing this. This is only the second time we met in person. We usually meet in a cyber room. It was great!!!

Then we rushed to Jess’s house (you can see Mount St. Helena from her balcony!!!) to have a SCS lunch.

Sharon Harnist brought her copics and showed us how to use Nestabilities with a cuttlebug. Needless to say I ordered those from Ellen Hutson’s store and they are on the way to me now. I can’t wait!

Then we drove back into the city for a quick shopping trip to Paper Zone. What a SWEET STORE. They had shimmery cardstock in every color!!!! I don’t think anyone of us left without at least one bag. lol

We had to be back in the hotel around 5:30 p.m. to change and go to the Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Daven and Tracy had invited the team members, moderators and former and current DD girls. That was fun too. We took this picture when left the restaurant.

scs-gang-in-portland.jpg

From left to right (top row): Adam, Sara, Lori, Cami, Leann, Lisa, Beverly, Jenn, Scott, Beate, Daven, Tracy, Jess and Jami

Bottom row: Joy, Julie, Leslie, Sharon and Emily

Once we got back to the hotel, we had to talk a little bit more about some SCS stuff, then headed back to the hotel room.

We had to party one last time to say goodbye.

So we didn’t get much sleep the last night either.

That’s the story of how I got so tired! LOL

It was definitely a trip that I will remember for the rest of my life! It was a priviledge to meet all these awesome women (and men).

Spotlighted Flowers

I made this card for the tutorial on Splitcoast today.

oh-so-lovely-spotlight-squa.jpg

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Purely Pomegranate cardstock.

I sponged the sides and used the corner rounder on the bottom two corners.

Next I added a 2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of black cardstock layered with a 1 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Apple Cider Designer paper on the lower half of the card base.

For the main image the berry stem from Oh so Lovely three times in Black Stazon on a 2 1/2″ x 3″ piece of  Shimmery White cardstock. I paper pierced the edges and layered it on a 1/4″ bigger piece of basic black cardstock. The next layer is a 3″ x 3 1/2″ piece of Soft Sky cardstock. I stamped it with the background stamp from Oh so Lovely and sponged it’s edges.

To highlight part of the image I stamped the berry stamp again in Black Stazon on a scrap piece of Shimmery White cardstock, punched out the part I wanted to highlight with my 1 1/4″ circle punch and layered it on a 1 3/8″ black cardstock circle.

I colored the punched out image with Soft Sky, Purely Pomegranate and Wild Wasabi classic ink and aqua painter, lined it up over the big stamped panel and taped it down.  Then I added a small Wild Wasabi Photo corner to the left bottom corner and secured it with three Pewter brads.

lI added three Jumbo Pewter Eyelets to the left hand side of the card with help of my Crop-a-dile.

The sentiment is from All Holidays.  I stamped a piece of Soft Sky cardstock first with the background stamp from Oh So Lovely. Next I stamped the sentiment in Black Stazon over that and punched it out with my small oval punch.  A small oval Pewter frame was added over it and fastened with brads. Before adding the right brad, I tied a small piece of Purely Pomegranate double stitched ribbon through the hole on the frame.

WSC23 winner

I am sorry I was so very quiet the last few days. I was suffering from a severe lack of sleep.

Portland was wonderful! I had such a great time meeting old friends and making new ones. We just didn’t sleep a lot. I think we had 3 hours of sleep every night.

Monday I was dizzy and nauseous, but I got my piled up work done anyway. Yesterday….I just hang around the house and did nothing. I was still feeling a bit dizzy…but not as bad as Monday. Today I am almost back to normal. I already made waffles with whipcream and strawberries for the kids for breakfast (from scratch).

I hope I will get some stamping done today! But to start the day off, let me tell you the winner of last weekend’s sketch challenge. All your cards were amazing! I love this sketch. It’s such an easy one. I like easy! lol

holiday-blitz-wsc-23-mjalbright.jpg

Random.org picked #47.

That was Mary Jo Albright with this wonderful card.

I love her work. You can see more of it on her blog Beauty Lies Within.

Thank you for everyone that entered the challenge.

Cupcake with Strawberry icing

I cased this card of myself to make a birthday card for Leslie Miller.  It is another sample for this weekend’s sketch challenge.

I just changed the colors and paper I used, but left everything else the same.

big-bold-birthday-wsc23-le.jpg

The colors I used here are Groovy Guava, Purely Pomegranate and Chocolate Chip.

The designer paper is from the Groovy Guava Prints Designer paper pack.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles
