Blue Bird

I made this card for today’s color challenge on SCS. The color combo for today is Wild Wasabi, Blue Bayou and Barely Banana.

I love the soft look of the color when combined with white. I just got more white brads in from Starlitstudio yesterday. I was eager to use them on my card. I wish Stampin’ Up! was selling white brads, but I am thankful that I can get them from Cindy.

I started out by stamping the branch from Spring Solitude (hostess level 2) in Wild Wasabi on Shimmery White.

I added the bird from the same set in Blue Bayou on top of the branch.

Next I used one of my circle Nestabilities die cut templates to cut out and emboss the image.

I cut out a Barely Banana scallop circle with Nestabilities as well, taped the white circle in it’s center and added a paper pierced border.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Blue Bayou cardstock. It was folded in half and the edges of the card front were sponged with Blue Bayou.

The next layer is a 4″ square of Barely Banana cardstock. The corners were punched with the ticket corner punch. The Wild Wasabi layere measures 3 7/8″ square. Again the corners were punched and it the edges were paper pierced.

The Wild Wasabi horizontal strip measures 1 3/4″ x 3 7/8″. It was first wheeled with the coordinating wheel that comes with this set, then sponge and last distressed with the cutter kit.

The Wasabi strip was layered on a 2″ x 3 7/8″ strip of sponged and distressed Blue Bayou. The bottom has another paper pierced row on it.

After I adhered the Banana/Wasabi square to the two horizontal strips, I tied two Blue Bayou Double Stitched ribbon around the layers and taped three 1/4″ circles or Barely Banana on the top right of the ribbon. In the center of the circles, I added my new white brads.

I attached the main image with dimensionals and then attached all the layers with dimensionals to the card front.

Now I am off to get my baby girl out of school. She has a Periodontal screening at 3 p.m.. The Orthodontist we saw said that her jaw is so small that the bottom teeth came out way at the edge. One of those teeth might need a skin graft. Just thinking about that makes me shiver. I hope my baby doesn’t need this procedure done. I can only image how bad that would hurt. Wish us luck.
