Birthday Frog

I actually made a card for a specific purpose. A lot of times I just play around. Lucas needed a card for a birthday party he is invited to today. We bought the gift card (check last post) last weekend and I wanted to make a card to match it.

The image and sentiment were a little big for a regular size card, so I supersized mine.

The card base is a 7″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Wild Wasabi cardstock folded in half.

Next is a 4″ x 6 3/4″ piece of black cardstock followed by a 1/4″ smaller piece of Bashful Blue. I added a double photo corner on the top right with three silver brads in it.

For the main image I first stamped the 12 in Real Red Classic ink with my Big Deal Alpha on Watercolor paper. I masked it and made the frog from Unfrogettable jump gehind it. Next I colored the frog, added some grass and sky with Aqua painter and Classic inks (Summer Sun, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi and Bashful Blue).

I added a small line of orange shadow to the 12. I wanted to use all the colors used in the gift card. Then I used my black MicronPen 03 to outline the numbers and add grass.

Once the paper was dry I layered it first ona a 2 5/8″ x 3 1/8″ piece of Basic Black cardstock, then on a 1/4″ bigger piece or Real Red cardstock.

The Celebrate from Celebrate Everything was stamped in Real Red on a 1″ x 3 3/4″ piece of watercolor paper. I colored the outside with Aqua Painter and Bashful Blue and outlined the letters with my Micron Pen. It was layered first on a piece of Basic Black, then a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock.

I stamped your day from Celebrate Everything in Black Stazon on a small piece of Wild Wasabi and added it as a tab on the bottom right of the celebrate layer. Above the celebrate layer I added three 1/2″ Real Red circles, followed by a 1/4″ black circle and a silver brad.

On the inside I added a 4″ x 6 3/4″ piece of Bashful Blue.

I cut a 2 7/8″ x 4″ piece of Basic Black cardstock, corner rounded the edges to match the gift card and punched half circles with my slot punch. I paper pierced around the edges, added 1/2″ red circles and silver brads and taped it to the top right.

Now Lucas only has to write his message inside and he is ready to PARTY! LOL

I still have some Extra Large Envelopes Stampin’ Up! just retired. I love those and stocked up when I found out they wouldn’t be available anymore. That’s what this card will go in.

Be Inspired Challenge #2

walmart-gift-card.jpg

I made my sketch sample card to match this gift card.

Lucas is invited to his friends birthday party today.

Lately we have been only giving gift cards as presents.

It’s hard to find the right gift for boys this age. Usually they want video games that are $50 to $60 each. I can’t see myself spending that on a gift for a friend from school. So we give gift cards. (Can you believe this was the most boyish gift card my Walmart carried? That’s so not right!)

Anyway….if you want to play, make a card inspired by this gift card. You can choose just the color combo, maybe the way the grass looks….anything at all that inspires you from this gift card. Make a card, upload it online and add a link to this post so we can check it out. If you upload it on SCS, please add BIC2 in the keyword section.

Have fun with it.  I will post my sample after I post the sketch challenge at 8:30 a.m.Hugs and smiles
