I have to say, this was a tough sketch for me.

I create sketches after cards I have seen in magazines, on SCS or my own cards. During my break in December I put a lot of sketches together. The bad thing of working ahead is that I have no idea where that sketch came from. I am not sure about this card. I will definitely try again for another sample.

I started by looking for an image that would fit into the lower sitting rectangle of the sketch.

Boy…I love all the elements and flowers in the Stampin’ Up! catalog, but I wish there were more detailed images.

I finally settled on the little bird from the Fun & Fast Notes. It’s my favorite image from that stamp set.

The image was stamped on a 1 7/8″ x 2 1/4″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock with Black Stazon and colored  Aqua Painter and classic inks (Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip and Old Olive and sponged the sky with Soft Sky ink and sponge dauber.

The image was layered on a 3/8″ bigger piece of Basic Black cardstock and a 1/4″ bigger piece of Shimmery White cardstock. After I added all the layers I paper pierced the edges of the image layer.

I punched flowers out of Summer Sun Cardstock with the Boho Flower punch. I sponged them first with Pumpkin Pie, then with Chocolate Chip. The smaller flower was sponged more with Chocolate Chip. I taped the flowers on the flower on the image and added a Fire Circle Rhinestone brad in it’s center.

My vertical layer measures 2 1/4″ x 4″ and is from the now retired Petals & Paisley Designer Paper pack. I added a white scallop border on the left, paper pierced a triple row on the top of the strip and wrapped Pumpkin Pie striped ribbon around it.

Both layers were adhered to a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Soft Sky cardstock. I dry embossed circles on the right side of the designer paper and added three black brads on the bottom.  The Soft Sky cardstock was first layered on a 1/4″ bigger piece of Basic Black cardstock, then on a sponged Pumpkin Pie card base.

  24. My very first challenge entry (2) & a chance to fly by myself, so quite fitting that your sample included a bird. Like the colour in particular, especially the “grass” following through the dotted background colour & the orangey ribbon & flower bringing it all together.
Not sure just how to do all this!
