Sweet little birdie
I love this little bird from the Always stamp set!
I used it here for a 3″ x 3″ thank you card.
The card base is a 3″ x 6″ piece of textured River Rock cardstock folded in half.
The horizontal strip measures 1 1/2″ x 3″, the bottom edge is distressed with the Cutter’s tool kit.
The paper is from the Western Sky Designer Paper pack. I tied a piece of Double Stitched River Rock ribbon around that layer.
The bird is inked with Ruby Red ink. Before stamping the image on Whisper White cardstock, I outlined it with the brush side of my Chocolate Chip Marker. I colored his eye brown, punched his head out with the 1 1/4″ circle punch and layered it first on a 1 3/8″ River Rock circle, followed by a Chocolate Chip scallop circle.
The image was adhered with dimensionals and two white brads were added on the left. The sentiment is from Fundamental Sayings and was stamped in Chocolate Chip.
I love this layout for little cards. It’s back from my 4th Weekend sketch challenge but it’s been around forever!
I made a bunch of these as Thank you cards for my latest orders.
Question: Would you mind getting a 3″ x 3″ card as a RAK? Is that size too small for a RAK?
I really need Stampin’ Up! to start carrying chocolate chip and white brads. If you feel the same, please drop them a note by going to the website and clicking on contact us. I already send them an email. Right now I am getting my white brads from Starlitstudio .

Since RAKs are just random acts of kindness, why does it matter what size it is? I’d love to receive that card or another 3 by 3 as a RAK.

Belinda took the words right out of my mouth. If you are sending a card to someone then it should not matter the size.
Great card too Beate. This set was one I over looked in the catalog until you started posting your cute creations. Now it is on my next order.

I can’t imagine anyone complaining about a card from you, no matter the size! This is gorgeous!

I am just thrilled to get a RAK! Who cares the size?!! And this card is so sweet! Love the birdie!

I am not good about leaving comments, but this card is so beautiful. I love the bird in Ruby Red. I think getting a card any size is a wonderful thing. Thanks for the great inspiration.

I’m so glad you made a 3×3 card today. I have been wanting to use mine (I got a bunch from SU! awhile ago) to make a bunch of quick “go to” cards for unexpected birthdays, showers, etc. Now I can use this wonderful sketch and get a bunch done. Thank you! And I think getting a 3×3 RAK (especially one this nice) would be great!

I wish they would carry the aged copper in the brads and the jumbo eyelets. That color would go well with chocolate chip, and it’s the metal finish I’ve always liked the best. They could easily include it in the vintage brad back, replacing the silver, which you can buy seperately, but really… I’d buy tons of all aged copper brads all by themselves, so I wish they’d do all of their metal finishes individually.

I’d LOVE chocolate chip brads !!!
You’ve completely won me over with your cards using the “Always” set !! I thought this was ONE set I could live without but after all your gorgeous samples….it’s on my next order

I love this 3×3 card. I love how you “chopped” the bird off, you don’t always have to use the image & I love seeing this.
I would love to receive a RAK of a 3×3 card - I think they are adorable.
I wish SU would carry just black brads - I have a heck of a time finding them (lots of them).

Ooooooooo, beautiful! I think your cards are one of the greatest selling points for SU…they should pay you advertising fees. Everything you do makes me want to buy a set, LOL. As always, TFS.

UM…YES a 3 x 3 card would be great (in fact you can just send me this one *wink*) j/k - your 3 x 3 cards are just as fabulous as your full cards so what’s the diff? I agree with you (I will send an email) because I ADORE my chocolate ones I got from somewhere (I can’t remember) I use them sparingly. Never reall thought of white but GOOD idea!

Very cute 3×3 card. Yes, I think this’d be a great RAK.

a 3×3 is NOT TOO small, and I hope others share my feelings!(or i’m going ot get way behind on making cards to send out to all my contest mentions otherwsie!) I love this set

The thought is the important bit. The detail in your cards is great so what does size matter?
Posted by: Janine B | February 25th, 2008 14:20
This is a great thank you card. I’m ordering Always today! Can’t wait to get it. And yes, I will send SU! an e-mail requestiong white/choc. chip brads.
Have a good Monday.

Brilliant - love it! 3×3’s are just fine for RAK’s, and I am off to SU to tell them we NEED choc and white brads, and individual packs of textured cs as well (esp chocolate)!

Love your birdie card Beate! I think 3 x 3 is a nice size fo a swap or RAK’s! Deb

I think that 3×3 is really cute size and would be really convenient for swaps.
Chocolate Chip and White brads would be phenomenal.

I love that bird too and how you have used just the head for your image. This is a beautiful card, Beate. And I am so with you on SU! needing to carry the chocolate chip brads. What is up with that? Brown and black are the two colors I use the most.

Awesome card!! I really like the way you outlined the bird with the darker color. Really makes it jump out. And as others have said your cards are always GREAT and I would be honored to get one no matter what the size! Have a great week.

Yes!! Choc chip and white brads would be awesome! I was just thinking the other day (as I placed my brad-and-eyelet-hoarder order that they could use some choc chip brads and/or eyelets in the catalog…it’s my favorite color!

I sure hope 3×3 isn’t too small….that’s the size I used for the latest CF swap! I wish they’d sell brads is all of our colors and packaged individually. I have a TON of glorious green (or whatever that green is that comes in the bold brights) because I need the real red ones. Thank God, St. Patty’s day is coming….

Great card Beate… love the simple lay-out and the colors… I wouldn’t mind getting any size RAK cards. :o) I’ve been making a lot of 4 1/4 x 4 1/4 cards… those are fun too… TFS!

Beate,
Such an adorable card! And I would love to get a 3×3 in a RAK (wink wink)! I just did a small card for a swap and I think they show that we don’t need full size for everything!

Beate-
What a SUPER cute card!! I LOVE visiting your blog–you always have such GREAT ideas….things I would never think of…or it would probably take me FORVER to anyways–with this card for example, only using part of the bird. I tend to be such a ‘by the rules’ kind of girl–SO trying to change that and learn to ‘bend’ the rules a little……{smile}.
I think a 3×3 card is FINE for a RAK. A RAK is a ‘random act of kindness’ right?? No rules….just a sweet way to let someone know you’re thinking of them! -well, that’s my idea of a RAK anyways.
Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations with us!
And Thank You for the nice comments too!!
Smiles,
Stacey

Wonderful Beate! I can’t see why anyone would mind getting a 3×3 RAK…gosh anything surprising in the mail is always FUN! I mean, the person didn’t HAVE to send a RAK right? I can’t wait to get this set in a couple of days. This 10 day wait always kills me…haha!
Have a FAB day!

How incredibly cute! I LOVE this stamp set, but couldn’t really picture what to do with it. Now I am definitley going to have to buy it:D

This is so pretty, Beate!! I love that bird as well (need to get it out).
**3×3 is a perfect size for a RAK!!
I think your suggestion for those brad colors is great one! (I wish they could make a scallop circle punch just a little larger than the current one, to use together.)
Posted by: Rose Ann | February 26th, 2008 09:27
Very pretty card Beate! And I agree, chocolate chips and white brads would be awesome! *STAMPIN HUGS* Alex

Posted by: Valerie White | February 26th, 2008 13:19
What a cute little card!!!! I totally agree that a 3×3 would make an awesome RAK-just not sure how you would mail it?? Can that size go through the USPS or would you need to send in a bigger envelope?
I too would LOVE for SU to carry chocolate chip brads, and I’d love to have my chocolate grosgrain back!!!

This is adorable Beate! I don’t think 3×3 is too small for a RAK - I just spotted this weekend that we have the 3×3 notecards in the UK catty and plan to order some
