Chocolate Heart
I have to say that I love inspiration challenges.
It gives you a great starting point.
Saturday’s inspiration piece was an image of a blue room.
I pulled out these colors from the image: White, Brocade Blue, Close to Cocoa (dresser top), Always Artichoke and Cameo Coral (wreath). With all the hearts in the image I knew I had to through one in. I also wanted to add a lacy feel to my card.
I knew Blue and White had to be the main colors of the card, since they were definitely the major colors in the room.
So I looked through my designer paper and found this great blue paper from the retired Darling Doodles Designer Paper.
As for hearts, I knew right away that I wanted to use the one in my new and so far untouched Just Because set.
I stamped the heart in Black StazOn on watercolor paper and colored it in with Aqua Painter and Classic inks (Cameo Coral, Close to Cocoa and Brocade Blue). I distressed the edges and layered it on a 1/4″ bigger also distressed piece of Always Artichoke. Of course the image needed a border of some kind so I added paper piercing…AGAIN. LOL
The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Brocade Blue cardstock folded in half followed by a 4″ square of white cardstock.
The Darling Doodles Designer paper layer measures 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″. I think the Close to Cocoa Prints Designer Paper layer measures 1 3/4″ x 3 3/4″. I am sorry I can’t say for sure. It’s already mailed out. I scalloped a thin strip of Cameo Coral and scalloped it with my corner rounder. In each scallop I added an Artichoke brad. 5/8″ wide Brocade grosgrain ribbon was tied around the vertical strip.
The main square still looked a little blahh…so I added Faux stitching with my white gel pen and paper piercing. Last I stamped the sentiment in Black StazOn directly on the designer paper.
