Groovy Hippo
I haven’t done a Featured Stamper challenge in a long time. I guess because Sunday seems to be special time I spend with my kids and Monday is cleaning day. Last Sunday though I started the card early in the morning and stayed up late to finish it.
The featured stamper was Mary, aka. PetalPusher. I cased this card of hers.
I did get a Janome Mini sewing machine and used it for this card.
Rebecca and Lucas are loving that I have a sewing machine that they are allowed to use.
Anyway…back to the card.
The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Bordering Blue cardstock, followed by a 4″ basic black square.
The designer paper squares measure 1 7/8″ and are from the Groovy Guava Prints DP and the retired Darling Doodles DP. I added real zig zag stitching to all edges.
The sweet little hippo from Pun Fun was stamped in Black Stazon on a 1 7/8″ square of Watercolor paper and colored with Bordering blue, Brocade Blue, Groovy Guava, Purely Pomegranate and River Rock Classic ink and Aqua Painter.
The paper was layered first on a 2 1/8″ square of Basic Black cardstock followed by a Bordering Blue scallop square made with Nestabilities.
To pep it up a bit I added a half of a 1/2″ black circle on the top left of the main image, placed Double Stitched Purely Pomegranate ribbon under it and secured it with a Brocade Blue brad.
On the bottom of the bottom right square I added three 1/4″ Purely Pomegranate circles topped with black brads.
Gina K. has some great articles on how to use the Janome sewing machine.

Okay, I have had a mini sewing machine for YEARS and haven’t even threaded it. I saw Gina K’s tutorials last week and thought I would give it a whirl. I really need to get over my fear and start sewing on my cards because I love the look! Your card is great and now with the new SU! promotion, I will definitely be getting Pun Fun since your enabling has put it on my wish list! Thanks for all of the great inspiration!
