Tutorial on SCS - Flap Card

I was excited to see last week’s technique challenge being the Flap card! How cool to have so many samples a week before the tutorial was posted on Splitcoast.

I started with a 3 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Bordering blue cardstock and scored it at 4 1/4″ and 8 1/2″.

The flap part was cut down with the coluzzle and paper pierced. Chocolate Taffeta ribbon was ties around the top part of the flap.

I layered the card front first with a 3 1/4″ x 4″ piece of ticket corner punched Very Vanilla cardstock, then with a 1/4″ smaller piece of the retired Linen Prints Designer Paper. I distressed and paper pierced the designer paper.

The butterfly from Kind Thoughts was inked with Bordering Blue classic ink. Before stamping it on Very Vanilla cardstock I used my Close to Cocoa Marker to outline the edges and to add spots by thumping (tapping) the marker on the image. The butterfly was cut out and adhered with dimensionals to a 1 1/4″ paper pierced pierced close to cocoa circle. That circle was first placed on a 1 3/8″ Very Vanilla circle, then on a Chocolate chip scallop circle.

I inked up one word at a time from the sentiment with my Chocolate chip marker and stamped them underneath each other. That way they fit to punch out with the small oval punch. I layered that on a 1″ chocolate Chip circle and a bordering blue designer label punchout that had paper pierced edges.

I inked up the solid flower from Kind Thoughts in Bordering blue, went aroundthe edges with the Close to Cocoa Marker and stamped it on Very Vanilla. Next I stamped the outline flower in Close to Cocoa right over it. Nope, no Stamp-a-majic. I am too lazy. I eyeballed. I added a Antique Brass brad in the center and adhered it with dimensionals.

To tie the brad in I added two more brads to the left of the sentiment over two 1/4″ bordering blue circles.

With the colors, the paper and the image I chose, it is another great sample for the Inspiration challenge from yesterday.
