Smashed Leaves
I thought this inspiration piece was screaming for either the Fossil Stone Technique or the Spray, Ink and Smash technique. Since I haven’t done both I thought it was the perfect time to try one out. They are both very similar techniques, but the later one skips having to clean plastic! I went with that one. Less mess is better!
I sprayed one piece of glossy white cardstock with water and dripped Really Rust, Old Olive and More Mustard reinker on it. Next I sprayed a second piece of glossy white cardstock, pushed it glossy side down into the reinker one and wiggled it a bit on the first one and pulled them apart.
After the pieces dried, I cut one down to 3 1/2″ square sponged the edges with Really Rust and layered it on a 1/4″ bigger piece of sponged Chocolate Chip piece of cardstock.
I ordered the Wonderful You this month. I love this month Free Wheelin’ promotion. I eyed this set as well as Enjoy every Moment and this month I got them both!!!
I stamped the outline leaves in Black Stazon twice on the bottom left of the square. I added Really Rust and Chocolate Chip ink with my Blender Pen. Next I added paper piercing around the edges.
The top left edge was decorated with a double photo corner out of sponged Chocolate Chip and Old Olive cardstock and topped with three Mustard brads. The sentiment is also from Wonderful you. it’s stamped in Black Stazon on Old Olive cardstock and punched out with the Window Word Punch. The edges were sponged with Chocolate chip and the sentiment was taped to the bottom right. I added a Adged Copper Hodgepodge Hardware piece to it and tied Mustard grosgrain ribbon around that.
The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Really Rust cardstock, folded in half and sponged around the edges of the card front. the other two layers were attached with dimensionals. Last I added Crystal Effect over the colored leaves.
Personal Note:
I am not sure how much stamping I will get done today. I had such big plans. Two tutorial two write, challenges to participate. Instead I will be driving Lucas to the doctor at noon. One of his eyes is almost completely swollen shut. No puss, no redness. Nothing else wrong with him. Weird! I am not sure though if it’s contagious so I left him out of school.
Rebecca is having two baby teeth pulled at two. Oh what fun this will be! My poor baby.

Really like your card Beate. The background is brilliant. Haven’t tried that technique before - looks like fun. Thanks for the link to the tutorial. I don’t have any reinkers - would there be a workable substitute for them? What did you use to make the leaves so glossy and dimensional? Looks good.
