Elegant Bella Cheer
Okay…it took me most of yesterday evening to come up with this card. I just couldn’t get it to look right. For the longest time I had the general layout done but couldn’t come up with what to put in the oval or on the white strip on the side. Getting back into stamping is hard work!!!
The first thing I took from the Inspiration piece was the color combo: Going Gray, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango. Next I thought a fold over would look good since bed lines are usually fold back. I added more striped layers to keep up with the linen look.
I started out with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Going Gray cardstock and scored at 1 1/4″ and 5 1/2″.
I punched a 4 1/4″ long strip of white cardstock with the new Scallop Edge Punch and taped it underneath the 1 1/4″ fold over flap.
Next I taped Bella Rose Designer Paper on the card front, leaving about 1/8″ of the gray card base showing. 5/8″ chocolate grosgrain ribbon was tied around the the fold over flap (not around the back, it still opens up) and a hat pin from the Pretties kit was added through the knot. Now I was stuck for a while.
I went back to oval Nestabilities since I don’t have my new large oval punch yet. I ordered all the new punches along with the oval stamp set. Oh…I can’t wait (but I have to since my order isn’t even picking yet!)!! I think one thing that made stamping so hard is that I was envisioning the new stamps (the oval stamps, the new flowers) in my oval and I couldn’t think of which of my “old” stamps I could use to make it look pretty.
I cut the outer layer as a scallop chocolate Chip oval, followed by a regular Tangerine Tango and even smaller Whisper White oval. I set it aside because I had no clue what to put in it. I started working on the inside of the card to add more color.
I lined the layers up so that when the card is closed only the stamped white and Tangerine stripes are showing.
The outer stripe was stamped in second generation going gray ink with the Baroque Motif swirl (just thinking of that took me forever again. I want those “Beautiful Borders” and some of the new wheels - and those weren’t even on my August order!).
I paper pierced the Tangerine strip with one row, the Kiwi stripe with two.
It almost 10 p.m. when I finally decided to add second generation going gray swirls all over the white oval and add an Elegant Cheer greeting in Chocolate Chip in it’s center. I paper pierced around the edges and adhered the ovals with dimensionals.
Boy….Das war eine Schwergeburt. I hope the next one will be easier.
Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

Your card looks great. It is very hard to get back ‘into it’ when you’ve taken a break for a while. But you did an awesome job.

This card is absolutely gorgeous, classy and elegant! Glad to have you back! I met Mary Jo Albright at convention and she had such nice things to say about you and I agreed. I told her I graduated high school in Niceville (remember me? Alumni 1979, way before you got there) and if I ever go back that I’d surely look you up. Certainly have missed you and I wouldn’t worry too much about “lost mojo”!

Wow Beate! It was worth all the agonising.

Haha! I can feel your pain, Beate! Oh, how that mojo sometimes likes to play games with us! Despite your struggles, you ended up with an absolutely gorgeous card! I need that Pretties kit, I think. See? You’re selling me on this stuff! I’m new to the “second generation” Going Gray. I’m guessing they reformulated it? Do you like it better? I like it that you put your struggles in your post. It will encourage stampers who think we come up with these cards as if they’re no trouble at all. Sometimes, yes, but most times we have to tinker. I do, anyway. Can’t wait to see you play with your new stuff, you enabler, you! ((hugs))
