I loved Jenn’s sketch! This card came together super quickly. What a nice change from the other cards this week. Hopefully that means I will get back into a stamping groove soon.

heardfromtheheartbellastyle.jpg

I started out with a 4 1/2″ x 9″ piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock that I folded in half.

A 1″ x 4 1/2″ strip of chocolate paper was taped over a 3 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ piece of kiwi paper to make a 4″ x 4 1/2″ block.

Both designer paper pieces are from the Bella Rose Designer Paper pack.

I ran White Taffeta Ribbon between both papers and taped everything on the card base.

All three circle layers were cut with Circle Nestabilities die templates. The Riding Hood Red scallop was cut with the biggest template and I went one down from there for the Chocolate Chip and Bella Rose paper layer. I cut the right side off a bit and paper pierced the rounded edge.

The sentiment is from Heard from the heart. It’s stamped on a 1 3/8″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Whisper White cardstock in Chocolate Chip. I cut two slim rectangles with the Long Rectangle Nestabilities out of Chocolate Chip cardstock, taped them together and used them as the bottom layer for the sentiment.

I paper pierced the edges of the sentiment layer and added a large Pewter Eyelet on the bottom left. Through that eyelet I tied a knot with Pink Taffeta Ribbon.

I colored two flowers from the Pretties Kit with my Aqua Painter and Pink Pirouette and Riding Hood Red Reinker. I added a large Pewter Eyelet in the center and added a Half Pearl on top. I attached the flower with dimensionals.

Thanks Jenn for a wonderful sketch! I loved it!

Jenn Balcer was kind enough to provide me with this awesome sketch.

To participate in the challenge and be entered in the  raffle, make a card with this layout and upload it either to your blog, or to an online gallery. Because I am closing in on 2,100,000 hit, I will raffle away a stamp set from last year’s Holiday Mini catalog called Love & Joy.

If you upload your card on SCS, put WSC54  (NO SPACE INBETWEEN WSC AND 54) in the keyword section. That way we can look at all of them at once!

Post a link to your card to this blog entry as a comment. Please add your entry# to it.

I will determine the winner  with Random.org on Monday at 11:00 a.m. CST

Tuesday’s Color Challenge on SCS was super pretty: Blush Blossom, Ruby Red and Close to Cocoa. I actually stamped this card on Tuesday. I haven’t participated in a challenge on the same day that it was posted in I don’t know how long. It felt good!!!

fabulousflowershappinessalw.jpg

I started out with a 4 1/4″ x 10 1/2″ piece of Blush Blossom cardstock, scored and folded it at 5 1/2″.

I punched the vertical side of the card front with the Scallop Edge Punch and paper pierced a hole in the center of each scallop.

Next the card front was stamped with Blush Blossom and the Baroque Background stamp.

For the main image I stamped the big flower from Fabulous Flowers in Blush Blossom on a 3 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock randomly. Next I inked up the same flower with Ruby Red ink, colored the edges with Chocolate Chip Marker and stamped it on the bottom left corner of the same cardstock piece.

The cardstock was layered first on a 1/4″ bigger piece of sponged Close to Cocoa cardstock, then on a 1/4″ bigger piece of Ruby Red. Last I paper pierced through a border though all three layers and tied White Taffeta Ribbon around the right hand side.

I stamped the sentiment from Happiness Always in Chocolate chip (since the sponged cardstock looked like it) on Whisper White cardstock, punched it out with the large oval punch and layered it first on the 1 3/8″ Ruby Red, then on a sponged Close to Cocoa scallop circle. A Blush Blossom flower was punched out with the Three for You punch, sponged along the edges with Close to Cocoa ink and placed under the sentiment with a Ruby Red brad. The sentiment layeres were adhered to the card front with dimensionals.

To finish the card off I added Diamond Stickles Glitter all over the big red flower and adhered a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece of Whisper White cardstock on the inside of the card.

This card came together a lot faster then the card on Tuesday. Hopefully it will stay that way. I don’t know about you, but when I make a card with just rectangular layers, it feels like it is missing something. Ticket corner punch or scallops….something to break up the box look.

Today’s tutorial on SCS is another Oldie, but Goodie: Rolling Marble Background. I had to dig through my kids drawers to find some marbles to be able to write these instructions.

happinessalwaysrolledmarble.jpg

My card base is a 4 1/4″ x 7″ piece of Kiwi Kiss cardstock.

It was scored at 4 1/4″ and the short end was punched with the Scallop Edge Punch (definitely a must have from this new catalog).

The inside of the card was lined with a 4″ square of Baja Breeze cardstock.

I stamped the Butterfly from Happiness Always randomly over the cardstock and sponged the edges with Baja Breeze. Then I added paper piercing in the top right corner.

The card front was layered with a 2 3/8″ x 4″ piece of Chocolate Chip, followed by a 1/4″ smaller piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. The cardstock was first rolled with Kiwi Kiss inked marbles. Next I inked up the solid butterfly stamp with Kiwi Kiss and rolled the edges in Baja Breeze. I stamped the butterfly several times over the rolled background. Then I stamped the alpha butterfly  in second generation Baja Breeze.

I paper pierced the edges and added a double photo corner on the top left of the fold. Three silver brads top the corners off.

My latch is a 1 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock scored at 2 3/4″. I taped the smaller part of the strip to the right hand side of the card base. The longer part was layered with a 1 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. I had stamped it over and over with the leaf from Happiness Always in Baja Breeze.

The sentiment was stamped in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla, punched out with the large oval punch (I can’t wait to get the new ginormous one! I need new stuff!!! I want it now!!! LOL). The edges of the oval were sponged with Kiwi Kiss. After it was taped down on the buckle, I paper pierced a border around it with help of the Classy Brass Template Punches Plus.

I didn’t want to cut a slit to hold the Buckle card closed. I stamped another solid butterfly in Kiwi Kiss with Baja Breeze edges, topped it with the alpha butterfly in Chocolate Chip and cut it out. I added two silver brads in the butterfly body and adhered it partly over the buckle with dimensionals

I took one dimensional and tapped it several times onto my fingers to take some of the stickiness away. I placed the one sticky side of that dimensional under my butterfly wing.  The other, not so sticky side, holds my card together. It’s sticky enough to hold the card shut, but not sticky enough to make it hard to open the card.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

Okay…it took me most of yesterday evening to come up with this card. I just couldn’t get it to look right. For the longest time I had the general layout done but couldn’t come up with what to put in the oval or on the white strip on the side. Getting back into stamping is hard work!!!

The first thing I took from the Inspiration piece was the color combo: Going Gray, Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango. Next I thought a fold over would look good since bed lines are usually fold back.  I added more striped layers to keep up with the linen look.

elegantcheerbellarosebaroquebeatebic19.jpg

I started out with a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Going Gray cardstock and scored at 1 1/4″ and 5 1/2″.

I punched a 4 1/4″ long strip of white cardstock with the new Scallop Edge Punch and taped it underneath the 1 1/4″ fold over flap.

Next I taped Bella Rose Designer Paper on the card front, leaving about 1/8″ of the gray card base showing. 5/8″ chocolate grosgrain ribbon was tied around the the fold over flap (not around the back, it still opens up) and a hat pin from the Pretties kit was added through the knot. Now I was stuck for a while.

I went back to oval Nestabilities since I don’t have my new large oval punch yet. I ordered all the new punches along with the oval stamp set. Oh…I can’t wait (but I have to since my order isn’t even picking yet!)!! I think one thing that made stamping so hard is that I was envisioning the new stamps (the oval stamps, the new flowers) in my oval and I couldn’t think of which of my “old” stamps I could use to make it look pretty.

I cut the outer layer as a scallop chocolate Chip oval, followed by a regular Tangerine Tango and even smaller Whisper White oval. I set it aside because I had no clue what to put in it. I started working on the inside of the card to add more color.

elegantcheerbellaroseopenbi.jpg

I lined the layers up so that when the card is closed only the stamped white and Tangerine stripes are showing.

The outer stripe was stamped in second generation going gray ink with the Baroque Motif swirl (just thinking of that took me forever again. I want those “Beautiful Borders” and some of the new wheels – and those weren’t even on my August order!).

I paper pierced the Tangerine strip with one row, the Kiwi stripe with two.

It almost 10 p.m. when I finally decided to add second generation going gray swirls all over the white oval and add an Elegant Cheer greeting in Chocolate Chip in it’s center. I paper pierced around the edges and adhered the ovals with dimensionals.

Boy….Das war eine Schwergeburt. I hope the next one will be easier.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

We dropped Rick off at the airport yesterday morning. That was very sad. I spend the rest of the day playing with the kids to keep them from thinking about him being gone for another four month.

Today they all walked off to school. I can’t believe my oldest started his last year of Middle School and my baby entered 4th grade. That’s just plain crazy!

dreamsdujourjoyfoldridingho.jpg

I made this card for the Joy Fold Tutorial on SCS a while back.

Hopefully I will be posting a new sample tomorrow for my Be Inspired Challenge.

I picked the BIC image several month ago and wouldn’t you know it….it has some of the new In Colors in there.

For this card I used my the new stamp set Dreams Du Jour along with the Bella Rose Designer Paper for the first time. The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock scored at 5 1/2″. The smaller flap is made from a  3 ” x 8″ piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock.

You can see step by step instructions for the card in the tutorial.

I used the new In Colors and the Aqua Painter to color the images. The designer paper for the centerflap was sponged, the edges were paper pierced and the little butterfly from Dreams du Jour was stamped on it.

heartfeltthanksrubyredcolor.jpg

Here is my first card that I tried my hand on for the color wash tutorial.

I always stress about the tutorial sample. Ultimately this one I rejected because I always seem to use these soft colors and I chose brighter ones.

The card base is s 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock folded in half, layered with a 4″ square of Old Olive Prints Designer paper.

The Ruby Red scallop square is punched and embossed with the square Nestabilities die templates. It was layered with a 3 1/4″ square of Chocolate Chip cardstock and topped with the 3″ watercolor paper.

I used More Mustard for the Watercolor. The flowers from Heartfelt Thanks were inked with Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie (inside of flower head) and Ruby Red (edges of flower head) Markers and stamped on the bottom left. The outline stamps and the sentiment were inked with Brown Palette Ink.

I added a big paper pierced edge on the top right corner and 5/8″ vanilla grosgrain ribbon around to finish the card off.

I don’t know about you, but now that I have placed my first order, I am getting very excited. The beautiful new ribbon and paper, the gorgeous new stamps and the awesome new punches!!! I can’t wait to get them. Although after not stamping much for three month, I am a bit afraid that I might have lost my mojo. You guys have to go easy on me on my first new postings!

Have a wonderful day! We have a trip to the beach planned. Although it’s raining here right now. I hope it will stop soon.

Hugs and smiles

I don’t have anything new to show you, but I can share a card I made for one of the tutorials I wrote during my blog break. I made this card for the Color Wash tutorial to show color wash Resist.

lovelyasatreecolorwashresis.jpg

I started by stamping the trees from Lovely as a Tree in Black Craft ink on Watercolor Paper and embossed it with black embossing powder.

Next I stamped a small circle from Sweet Shapes in VersaMark over the trees and embossed it with clear embossing powder. I used a white crayon and scribbled a few lines (clouds) in front of it.

The color was was done on top with Elegant Envy, on the bottom with Always Artichoke. I added Handsome Hunter as grass and tree shade.

The watercolor paper was layered first on a 1/4″ bigger piece of Basic Black, then on a 1/4″ bigger piece of Elegant Eggplant cardstock. The card base is a 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Basic Black cardstock folded in half, topped with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of now retired Always Artichoke Prints Designer Paper. Paper piercing was added to the top left and bottom right corner.

Three 1/4″ black circles were placed on the top right and a small rhinestone brad was added in the center of circle. The sentiment is from Many Happy Returns. It is stamped in black on Shimmery White cardstock, punched out with the small oval punch and framed with Hardware from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware collection.

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for your kind words, emails and posts during my long summer break.

I had a wonderful time with my kids. We went to a lot of movies (Iron Man and Mamma Mia! were my personal favorites), visited the local waterpark weekly and just played and had fun.

Rick is still in town until Sunday, so I decided to post the first sketch next Friday! I am sorry about the delay, but my days with my handsome husband are too few and precious.

We were in San Antonio all last week visiting Rick’s family. I didn’t have internet during that time and only placed my first order from the new catalog last night (YIKES). I can’t wait to get my new stamps. They are so pretty!

The kids start school on Monday. I hope I will be back with daily new posts soon. Thanks so much for being patient with me.

Hugs and smiles
