First of all I want to wish you all a

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Here is a very simple card I made with the new set Cheep Talk. I love those adorable birds. They are easy to make a fun card with.

cheeptalkpopuppacificbirdbe.jpg

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of textured cardstock folded in half.

It was topped with a 4″ square of Baja Breeze cardstock. The bottom is covered with a 2″ x 4″ piece of Urban Oasis Designer Paper. It has a thin strip of Shimmery White cardstock underneath that was punched with the Scallop Edge Punch. 5/8″ wide Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon was tied underneath the white strip.

The birds are inked with Pacific Point, Tangerine Tango and Ridinghood Red ink and stamped on a 2″ x 2 7/8″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock. The edges were punched with the ticket corner punch and the piece was layered on a 1/4″ bigger piece of Ridinghood Red cardstock. The corners of that piece were also punched. The edges of the white cardstock were paper pierced.

The layers were attached to the card base with designer paper.  To add a bit more interest, I punched out a large oval out of Pacific Point cardstock and taped it to the lower right of the card base. I stamped the heart from Cheep Talk in Ridinghood Red on Shimmery White, punched it out with the 1/2″ circle punch and attached it to a Build a Brad. The brad was attached over the large oval punchout.

I will share the inside of the card on Wednesday.

I am sorry I am a bit late in drawing the winner for this raffle. I had a hard time finishing a tutorial and wanted to get the card done before it is getting dark.

Random.org picked #246. The lucky winner is Nancy J. Thank you all for playing!

Hugs and smiles

I am so excited to be back with the challenges.  I hope you are too! Here is my sample. I couldn’t help myself and had to use the Friends 24-7 again. I just love that bird.

The card base is a 6″ square of textured Chocolate Chip cardstock folded in half.

On top is a 2 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ piece of Parisian Breeze Specialty paper.  The top and the lower right corner were punched with the ticket corner punch.  I sanded the entire piece with my sanding block for a lighter look.

I cut both circle pieces with my new Circle Scissor Plus. I don’t have the Glass Mat yet, it’s backordered, but it also worked with my Scor-Pal Mat. The bigger circle is cut from Parisian Breeze Specialty Paper. The round edge was paper pierced and the entire piece was sanded.  The smaller circle was cut from the Candy Lane Designer Paper.  Two 3/4″ circles of the same paper were adhered on the top left of the larger circle and topped off with Ice Circle Rhinestone brads.

friends247wsc68closeup.jpg

I stamped the bird in Chocolate Chip on a 1 3/4″ square of Shimmery White cardstock. Again I stamped the Damask in Pretty Pirouette on the lower left of the image, distressed and sponged the edges. The entire piece was inked with VersaMark and embossed with Glassy Glaze Enamel. I repeated that process two more times, cooled the image in the freezer and cracked the embossing.

It was taped first on a distressed 2″ square of Baja Breeze Cardstock and then on a scallop square of chocolate chip cardstock that I cut with square Nestabilities. It was attached to card base with dimensionals.

The sentiment is from the stamp set Elegant Cheer. It was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink on Shimmery White cardstock and punched out with the large oval punch. The Damask was stamped over with Baja Breeze ink, the edges distressed and sponged and the oval was layered first on a 1″ Candy Lane Circle, then on a 1 1/4″ Chocolate Chip circle.

Before adhering the sentiment with dimensionals, I tied White Taffeta Ribbon around the Designer paper layers. To finish it off I added a small flower from the Pretties Kit underneath it with dimensionals and adding an Ice Circle Rhinestone brad in it’s center.

friends247wsc68insidecracke.jpg

For the inside I started with a 2 3/4″ x 5 3/4″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock.

The top right was paper pierced and the lower part was layered with designer paper that I used on the front. I had to throw in a Chocolate Chip strip punched with the Eyelet Border punch…just because….I LOVE that punch.

I can’t wait to see your take on the sketch! Have a great weekend. Hugs and smiles

SCS submissions

Wednesday I actually created a card for the sketch challenge on splitcoast. It felt good to participate, even though I haven’t posted the card on SCS yet.

sc214.jpg

This looked like a tough sketch for me. The middle part I love and could make a great square card with, but how to make it that the right hand side didn’t look too blank?

simplefriendshipsc214butter.jpg

I started out by looking around what I could use for the main image layer (4). Another have to have set from the new catalog came in mind: Simple Friendship. I love that butterfly. So that’s what I went with. I inked the butterfly in Tanergine Tango and rolled it’s edges in Riding Hood Red before stamping it on Shimmery White cardstock. It was cut out and set aside.

Next I cut a scalloped rectangle out of Kiwi Kiss cardstock with myrectangle Nestablities. The edges were sponged and it topped with a 2 1/4″ x 2 7/8″ sponged Riding Hood Red Rectangle.

I stamped the swirl from several times in Kiwi Kiss on the  lower half of a 2 1/8″ x 2 3/4″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock. A couple of Riding Hood Red small flowers were added. I inked up the flower again with Riding Hood Red, rolled the edges in Bravo Burgundy and stamped it on a scrap piece of Shimmery White, cut it out and adhered it with dimensionals to the main image. A Fire Circle Rhinestone bradfinishes off that flower. The edges of the white cardstock were paper pierced and the butterfly was added with double dimensionals under it’s wings and plain adhesive on it’s body.

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Kiwi Kiss cardstock folded in half, followed by a 4″ x 4 7/8″ piece of Urban Oasis Designer paper(love all that gray in there). A 4″ long strip of Shimmery White cardstock was punched with the Eyelet Border Punch and taped under the Oasis paper on it’s right hand side.

The Baja Polka Dot paper measures 3 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ and comes from the Parisian Breeze Specialty Paper Pack. I sanded it down with the sanding block and distressed the edges with the cutter kit.

The red paper measures 2 3/4″ x 3 1/2″, has distressed edges and a paper pierced border along with a small strip of Shimmery White in the right and is from the Candy Lane Designer Paper Pack.

I stamped the sentiment circle in Tangerine Tango on Shimmery White, punched it out with the 1 3/4″ circle punchand taped it underneath the main image. To balance it off, I added a 1″ Candy Lane Circle topped with a 3/4″ Shimmery White Circle, a small Filigree brad and a Ice circle Rhinestone brad on the upper left hand side.

simplebutterflysc214open.jpg

The inside of the card is pretty simple.

A 5 1/4″ long strip of Eyelet Border punched Shimmery Whitewas taped to the bottom of a  3 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Baja Breeze cardstock . A 3/8″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Candy Lane Designer paper was added between both those layers.

The round sentiment was stamped again, this time in Basic Gray. It was colored with Aqua Painterand Classic Inks (Tangerine Tango, Red Ridinghood and Kiwi Kiss), punched out with the 1 3/4″ circle punch and adhered to the lower right of the card, over all three paper layers.

Have a wonderful day and a great weekend! Stay warm (as it is another COLD day here).

Funky Trees is another one of the first sets I ordered. I just love the little trees and thought the set would be perfect for 3″ x 3″ thank you cards. I love to make those little cards.

trendytreesolive3x3beate.jpg

I started with a 3″ x 6″ piece of Kiwi Kiss cardstock folded in half.

The designer paper is from the Parisian Breeze Specialty Paper pack. When I ordered it I didn’t even realize that this designer paper is textured cardstock! Can I hear a big SHUT UP, please. LOVE IT!!!

The strip measures 1 5/8″ x 3″ and was adhered to the lower part of the card base. Over the paper I tied striped Baja Breeze Grosgrain ribbon.

I stamped the tree top in Kiwi Kiss, the trunk in Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardstock. The image was punched out with the Curvy Label punch. On the bottom I used another tree top to create the grass look in Kiwi Kiss by just stamping it over and over until I liked the look. Last I paper pierced the edge to make it look more like a mini top note die.

Just the Curvy Label alone looked too blah, so I cut two Baja Breeze 13/8″ circles in half and layered it on a 1 3/4″ Chocolate Chip cardstock circle and centered my label on that. The layers were attached with dimensionals to the main card. I took a view pictures how I pieced the circles together. You can see it by clicking on more on the bottom of the post.

The whole sentiment was too long for my tiny card, so I only inked and stamped the thanks in Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardstock. It was punched out with the Window Word punch, one end was cut straight and taped to the lower right of the card. A Ice Circle Rhinestone brad finishes off this quick card.

My friend Katrina came over to stamp yesterday and she got me to stamp. I had a lot of fun! Here is one of the two cards I made.

As soon as I saw Friends 24-7 I knew I had to have it. I had a very simple card envisioned to make as my first sample, but this one came out instead. Not that it’s not simple…it’s just not at all like the one I thought of.

friends247saharabird.jpg

I started out with a 2 5/8″ square of Shimmery White cardstock. I stamped the Damask from Friends 24-7 all over in Sahara Sand. Then I added a few more of the same images in Pink Pirouette.

Next I stamped the bird from the same stamp set in Basic Gray ink. The edges of the Shimmery White were distressed with my Cutter Kit and sponged with Sahara Sand ink.

The square was layered on a 1/4″ bigger, sponged and distressed, piece of Basic Gray cardstock. The edges of the Shimmery Cardstock were paper pierced.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Basic Gray cardstock. The outer edges were sponged to match my smaller gray square.

Next is a 4 1/8″ square in Pink Pirouette, followed by a 4″ square of Sahara Sand cardstock. That square was first wheeled with the Jumbo Wheel Friendly Words in Sahara Sand. The edges were distressed with the Cutter Kit and sponged in Sahara Sand. The Pink and Sahara cardstock were taped together and the edges of the Sahara piece were paper pierced. Next Striped Pink Pirouette ribbon was tied around the center and two of the new and gorgeous white brads (now if you could only get those new gorgeous basic brads in a regular size as well, I would be in heaven!) were added to the top left. The layers were attached to the card base with dimensionals. The main image was adhered to these layers with dimensionals as well.

The sentiment is also from Friends 24-7. It was stamped in Basic Gray on Shimmery White cardstock and punched out with the 1 1/4″ circle punch. Next I stamped part of the Damask background in Pink Pirouette ink on the lower part of the circle and sponged the rest with Sahara Sand. The circle was layered on a sponged 1 3/8″ Basic Gray circle and then on a scalloped, unsponged Basic Gray circle. The edges were paper pierced and the whole thing was attached with dimensionals.

friends247saharabirdinside.jpg

For the inside I layered a 4″ Pink Pirouette cardstock square with a 3 7/8″ distressed and sponged Sahara Sand Square. I stamped the bird in Versamark on the upper left hand side and paper pierced the upper right corner.

The Shimmery White cardstock strip is 1 1/4″ wide and stamped with the Damask stamp from Friends 24-7 in Pink Pirouette. Underneath is a small punched Pink Pirouette cardstock border made with the new Eyelet Border Punch. The upper edge of the white strip was distressed and paper pierced. To finish it off I stamped the sentiment in Basic Gray on the right hand side of the strip.
