I spent 2 years living in West Germany before the Wall came down and was present when the Wall came down.

Six months of my stay was on the economy living with a German family. It was a very memorable experience.

Just make sure to take LOTS and LOTS of pictures - I was too young to appreciate taking good pictures with a my camera!! (I lanent the lost years in Germany).
