Rothenburg ob der Tauber
Yesterday we drove to Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
It was rainy and cold, but we braved it to show our kids this cool city.
The town center still has it’s medival town wall standing around it. You can walk on that wall.
We had a great time. You can see lots more picture on my facebook.

Beate,
These pix are so wonderful! I am an avid reader who isn’t well travelled. I live in Colorado so none of our buildings are more than 100 years old. Thank you for bringing history to life!
This is one reason I love the internet so much!

That would make a great scrapbook page… Gorgeous picture! The fortification reminds me a lot of the one in Quebec City. The roofs aren’t orange in the Old Quebec, though.
I hope you are having a great time despite the cold!

I just LOVE this town!! I actually spent two nights there with some friends in early December 20 years ago and just loved it!!! The big clock in the town square, the story about the master builder committing suicide as the junior apprentice’s steeple on the church was better than his, the Christmas booths were set up in the plaza so you could stroll through and best of all the Christmas store!! Every day we were in there I’d find something new and we spent a LOT of time in that store. Still have some of the Christmas decorations I bought there along with the nutcracker I named Rothenberg
Thanks for the walk down memory lane!! Sorry the weather isn’t cooperating too much, but I’m sure it’s just wonderful being there and visiting family and sights. Enjoy
