I had meant for my sample to be a strict only Stampin’ Up! card, but then my order of Nestabilities from Ellen came in and I had to use my new label set.

 oftheearthwsc91beate.jpg

I wanted to use some colors I usually don’t use. It was hard and I am not sure I like what I came up with. I had to leave to Orlando though…so I don’t have a choice. This is my sample. LOL

I am going to keep this post super short. It was a long day. I got up at five, my plane was taking off at 7 a.m., was at Orlando at 11 a.m.  and spend all afternoon with the SCS team (Jenn, Lori and Daven). Daven took me through the show really quick, then it was time to set up the SCS booth.

We just came back from dinner and it’s already after midnight.

Today I am the actual hostess of the challenge. I am excited. It’s good to be back !!!

To participate in the challenge, make a card with this layout and upload it either to your blog, or to an online gallery.
If you upload your card on SCS, put WSC91 (NO SPACE INBETWEEN WSC AND 91) in the keyword section. That way we can look at all of them at once!

Post a link to your card to this blog entry as a comment. Please add your entry# to it.

I will determine the winner  with Random.org on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. CST.

SCS submissions

Bonnie wrote not just the Tri-Shutter card tutorial for SCS, but she also wrote one on how to make beautiful Fan Fold Flowers. Here is one of the samples I made with that tutorial.

miraclesbloomdtgd09fanfoldf.jpg

My card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Kraft cardstock folded in half. The first layer is a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of basic black cardstock. Each corner was punched with the ticket corner punch. Next is a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Bella Bleu Designer Paper.  The corners were punched with the ticket corner punch, the edge paper pierced and then sanded with the sanding block. White Organza Ribbon was tied on the left hand side. I actually tied a bow. It’s not perfect, but that’s as good as my bows get.

The sentiment is from another Verve Stamp set. It’s called “Miracle Blossom“. It was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Shimmery White cardstock. It was cut out with Nestabilities and layered on the next size of cutout in Basic Black. On the left hand side of the sentiment I stamped a flower stem stamp from the same set in second generation Sahara sand. The top right corner was paper pierced.

fanfoldflowercloseupbj.jpg

My Fan Fold Flower was created out of a 3/4″ x 12″ strip of Bella Bleu Designer Paper. One long side of the paper was punched with the scallop edge punch. A score was added between each scallop and the scores were folded mountain/valley style. The ends were taped together to created a zig/zag circle. Push the inside of the circle down and tape a 3/4″ circle in the center to hold the flower down. I added Crystal Effect over the circle and sprinkled Dazzling Diamond Glitter over it.

miraclesblominsidebeate.jpg

For the inside I cut a 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ piece of basic black cardstock and cut the corners with the ticket corner punch. Next is a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock. I stamped the flower stem along with two flower heads of Miracle Blossom in Sahara sand on the center of the left hand side.

A 7/8″ x 5″ piece of Bella Bleu Designer paper was added to the lower half. The top of the strip was paper pierced and all the edges were distressed with my sanding block. Clear dew drops in the smaller flower head and two on the left hand side of the designer paper strip finish off the inside.

I created a video tutorial for these darling flowers. You can find it here:

I am so excited! Today I am flying to Orlando to go to the CHA! I will be there around noon and hopefully get to walk the booths and meet, hang out and chat with lots of people!!!!

cha.jpg

Then Friday and Saturday I will be at SCS’s booth. It’s the first time that we have a booth at the CHA! I can’t wait. This will be so much fun. If you are coming , make sure to come by. Check this forum thread for more information on the make and takes that you can make.

I hope to have lots of pictures to share with you. I might post them in a facebook album so my subscriber’s email box won’t clog up. Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

Bonnie Szwalkiewicz created this wonderful fold tutorial first for her blog, then it became a Technique Challenge on SCS and now she wrote the tutorial for SCS as well. It’s a fun fold for special occasions.

beautifulkindnesstrishutter.jpg

My card base is a 5 1/2″ x 12″ strip of textured Soft Suede Cardstock.

It was scored at 2″, 4″, 8″ and 10″. Turn the paper, line it up at 1 1/2″ in your paper trimmer and cut from 2″ to 10″. Move your cardstock to the 4″ mark and cut again from 2″ to 10″.

Next I cut Chocolate chip cardstock 1/4″ smaller then each panel. The designer paper is from Thoroughly Modern Designer Paper pack and was cut 3/16″ smaller then the Chocolate Chip cardstock. Before I taped the cardstock/designer paper layers to the card base, I added some paper piercing.

The sentiment is from the Verve Stamp set “Beautiful Kindness“. It was stamped in Chocolate Chip on Shimmery White cardstock, cut out with Oval Nestabilities and then layered first on a slightly larger Chocolate Chip Oval, then on a Melon Mambo Scallop Oval.  A paper pierced border was added to the Shimmery White layer.

beautifulkindnessflowercent.jpg

The center of the Pretties Kit flower is a 1″ Chocolate chip circle. It was stamped with the small butterfly from Beautiful Kindness. The edges were sponged and distressed and a thick layer of Crystal Effect was added. Once it was dry the circle was added to the flower with dimensionals and the flower was adhered to the card with dimensionals as well.

 beautifulkindnessopenbeate.jpg

The inside panels are all decorated with Chocolate Chip cardstock and Thoroughly Modern Designer Paper. The center panel has a smaller oval to write the message with a layered Verve Butterfly on the top right. The outer strip holds a smaller flower from the Pretties kit with an Antique Brass Build a Brad in it’s center.

I hope you play with this fun and easy card. The hardest part of this card is to decide which patterned paper you want to show off.

And if you are a visual learner, check my second (ever) video tutorial. I even figured out how to upload a better quality to youtube.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

I am having a crazy day today. The cable guys were here to drill a hole through our wall and lay me a cable input in my stamp room. They had to go into our crawl space and I had dirt everywhere. That’s especially bad on a Tuesday when I just cleaned the whole house yesterday. (It is clean again thanks to a good vacuum and some good old fashioned cleaning) Plus our air conditioner is leaking and I am expecting repairman for that.

Despite all that I got my walk in and already worked on two tutorials for the week after next AND I had time to play a little. So maybe it isn’t as bad of a day then I thought it would be…. :)

thankyoukindlyborderclose.jpg

I tried out my new Eyelet Borderbilities and Pendants today!

FUN, FUN, FUN!

You got to know I love THAT look. I only use Stampin’ Up!’s Eyelet border punch on almost every card.

Here is a medallion I punched with the Pendant dies. The cool thing is that Spellbinders including cutting sandwich instructions in the package! That took all the guesswork out of the cutting and embossing.

thankyoukindlyborderoutside.jpg

Check out that beautiful cut, embossed and stenciled border.

I didn’t want to take away from that and the medallion, so I only added a little Thoroughly Modern Designer Paper and Soft Suede Polka Dot Ribbon and was done with my card front.

The card base is a 3″ x 6″ piece of Kraft cardstock folded in half. The edge of the card front was cut, embossed and stenciled with the Eyelet Borderabilities.

For the Medallion I cut Whisper White with the medium size pendant die, Bermuda Bay cardstock with the small template. I sponged Soft Suede classic ink over the medium die with a sponge dauber and topped the Bermuda layer off with a medium size pearl from the Pretties Kit.

thankyoukindlyborderbilitie.jpg

The inside of the card is lined with a 2 7/8″ square of textured Whisper White cardstock. The sentiment is from the stamp set Thank you Kindly and was stamped in Soft Suede on the top center.

I think will make a few more of these cards. I have a few thank yous to send out.

Tomorrow is another tutorial day….and Thursday I am leaving to go to the CHA. I am soooo excited about that. Jenn and Lori are already there today. Daven will arrive tomorrow. It will be good to hang out with them. I can’t wait to go so I can meet so many people that I only know through SCS or blogs or that I haven’t seen in ages! It will be ”GOOD TIMES” indeed.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

I didn’t stamp much this weekend. I am trying to learn the Adobe Premiere Elements program so that I can edit my video tutorials better. Working with videos sure takes a LOT of time. At least right now for me it does. I am sure it will be better once I know the program better.  I do have something to share though. Remember when I said I visited Mary Brown?

Here is the other card she prepped for me and her downline/sideline to do! I tell you, she is one of the sweetest people.

kindandcaringraspberrymaryb.jpg

I think it’s beautiful and it shows of this new Level 3 hostess set perfectly.

I really like how this card came together. Maybe it has something to do with all the brown colors on it? LOL

sc238.jpg

I made it for the sketch challenge on SCS. I couldn’t help myself and changed the sketch a bit. But just a bit. I exchanged the squares for the shape from the Matchbox Die template. I love that shape.

floressuavessepiasc238.jpg

Because of the gorgeous shape of that die cut, I needed to find an elegant image. I thought the tulip from the stamp set Flores Suaves would be perfect for it.

My card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Textured Soft Suede Cardstock folded in half. The textured strip of Very Vanilla cardstock measures 2″ x 5 1/2″ and was sponged with Soft Suede. It was layered on a slightly bigger strip of sponged Chocolate Chip. The bottom of that strip had been punched with the Eyelet Border punch. The top edge of the Vanilla strip was paper pierced.

I cut out three of these shapes with the Matchbox Die Template out of Soft Suede cardstock. With help of the Stamp-a-majic I lined up the outline shape from Great friend in Soft Suede on the cut outs and sponged the edges. Next I stamped the shape three times in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla cardstock. I masked the shape off with a reverse mask and stamped first the tulip (then masked that one as well) and then the script from Flores Suaves in the shapes. I cut those out and sponged the edges lightly with Soft Suedes. The vanilla layers were adhered over the Soft Suede die cuts.

Next I stamped the flower again three times in Basic Brown on Very Vanilla, colored them with aqua painter and Soft Suede as well as with a hint of Crushed Curry, cut them out and mounted them on my layered die cuts.  Soft Suede dotted Ribbon was tied to the bottom of the Vanilla strip and the three die cuts were mounted over it with dimensionals.

The sentiment is from Teeny, Tiny Wishes. It was stamped in Chocolate Chip on Very Vanilla cardstock and punched out with the small oval punch. I sponged the edges with Soft Suede and stamped the tulip with second and third generation Soft Suede over it. To finish the card off I added three 5/16″ vanilla brads on the left hand side over the strip.

floressuavessepiainsidebeat.jpg

The inside was layered with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Chocolate chip cardstock layered with a 1/4″ smaller piece of Very Vanilla cardstock. The Vanilla layer was covered with a punched piece of scrap paper and sponged with Soft Suede ink. Then I added the script and Tulip from Flores Suaves over the sponged layer.

I made this card for a while back for a challenge during VSN. I didn’t even know there was a fruit called Dragon fruit. It looks like Stracciatella Icecream (I think that’s a German flavor…not sure).

These colors are so bright together….so I thought while I am already out of my comfort zone, while not go a bit more outside and use messy stuff. Glitter and beads. So here is what came out of that ….

partyheartyaugvsnbeate.jpg

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Old Olive cardstock, followed by a 4″ square in Basic Black.

Next is a 3 3/4″ square of Whisper White that was dry embossed with the Swiss Dot Cuttlebug Folder.

I added a 1 3/4″ wide strip of Melon Mambo Pattern Designer Paper to the white layer and tied Old Olive 5/8″ wide ribbon around the top edge of it.

I inked the cupcake from Party Hearty with Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo markers, stamped it twice on Whisper White cardstock and cut them out. Both were adhered to a white square with dimensionals. Glitter and Microbeads were added to the cupcake top.

Both the Melon Mambo and the Black scallop squares were cut with Square Nestabilities. I added more glitter over the Mambo frame. The sentiment was stamped in Black Stazon, punched out with the Window word punch and first layered on a small oval punchout, then on a black large oval.

partyheartyaugvsninside.jpg

The card inside is layered with a 4″ Basic Black square followed by a 1/4″ smaller piece of Whisper White.

That was layered by a 1 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ piece of Melon Mambo Pattern Designer paper. A small strip of Basic Black was punched with the Eyelet Border punch and adhered under the designer paper layer.

The present stamp is also from Party Hearty. It was stamped in Old Olive on Whisper White and punched out with the 3/4″ circle punch. It was adhered over a 1″ black circle on the bottom left.
