I had too much fun with the technique from yesterday’s tutorial. I created this card to show off a slight variation. Stamp your Acetate, then run through Die cut machine with embossing folder. Then create the background.

I had received my latest Verve order on Tuesday and had to play with the stamps right away.

My card base was cut with the Clear Scallop Die for the Big shot out of Chocolate Chip cardstock. The edges were sponged before a 3 1/2″ Old Olive Cardstock square was adhered to it.

I stamped my 3″ square of Acetate with Leaves, before running it through my Big Shot with the Diamond Rough Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. Next I added Acrylic Paint in Butterscotch, Terra Cotta and Lettuce. A 3″ Whisper White square was pressed over the back of the acetate and taped on a 3 3/8″ Basic Black cardstock Square.

The main image and sentiment are from the stamp set Harvest Blessings. They were stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Gina K White Paper and colored and airbrushed with Copic markers. Then they were cut and embossed with Circle Nestabilities and adhered to a slightly bigger black circle.

Wide Chocolate Grosgrain ribbon was tied on the bottom of my Acetate layers and Martha Stewart self sticking pearls added to the top left.

The inside of the card is layered just like the front. The edges of the white cardstock were sponged and paper pierced. A branch from Harvest Blessings was stamped on the lower right hand corner and colored with copics.

Stampin’ Up! update:

I decided not to sign the IDA.  I called and cancelled my Demonstrator website and I will resign after I ordered goodies for my Great Reward points. I will still use Stampin’ Up! products, but probably not quite that often as I used to.

Have a wonderful day! Make sure to check back here tomorrow! WSC100 is coming up! Can you believe it?

  1. I think SU has lost a very great supporter. I check your blog everyday for inspiration. Because of your creations I have ordered several SU stamps from my local demo. Thank you for sharing your work and giving me so many fabulous ideas!

  2. I believe Stampin’ Up will loose many good ladies…and what a shame. I love their products…but truly understand. I will still visit your site…’cause it has so much to teach us.
Thank you for your hard work ….

  3. Beate, I know SU has lost a very valuable Demo. I personally think they just bit off their nose to spite their face as the old saying goes. I’m sure this silly decision on SU’s part will hurt them more than they expected. I’m sending in my last order with my local demo today. I’ve put SU right next to NIKE on my list of businesses to boycott. I look forward to your future creations and will be checking your site here every day. Thank you so much for your creations and inspiration you give us. How wonderfully kind of you.

    Sue

  4. I will certainly miss all your wonderful SU creations and suggestions. You do what you have to do!

  5. Wow, this is beautiful, Beate!!

  6. GORGEOUSNESS Beate! I LOVE every bit of this!!! I too have left SU!…but SU! isn’t what makes YOU awesome…you could make magic with a paper bag my friend!!!

  7. Beate.. this is beautiful. As soon as I seen in my google reader this post of yours, I knew that you decided not to sign the IDA. I did reluctantly sign mine this morning so that I could put in an order for someone. I don’t do a lot of demos and such, but don’t like being told what all I can and cannot post on a personal blog.. not that I had links going anywhere, but now if I want to, I can’t.

I think that today SU lost a lot of great demonstrators.. including you!

I so look forward to all your works of art.. you are so very talented. thank you for taking all the time you do to share your talent with us all.

  8. Love this beautiful card with that smashing tech, Beate! I haven’t done that tech in FOREVER!

My SU! resignation email went in on Friday night and I had a confirmation from SU! on Monday. They are losing one of their biggest stars and supporters in you, but you will go on to even more bigger and better things, I just know it, if that is what you choose to do!

  9. Such a beautiful card and thank you for giving us your personal SU update. I placed my final order yesterday. What a shame. I suppose they have done what they felt necessary, however, I honestly think clear acrylic stamps would have been a better way to increase sales. LOL Nonetheless, it is helpful to us little folks to know that even the greats couldn’t meet the new requirements.

  10. What a gorgeous fabulous card Beate. SU have lost a very talented demo.

  11. This is a gorgeous card Beate. Thank you for continuing to share your talent with us.

  12. Hi Beate,
Thanks for keeping us updated on your SU decision. I am not a demo anymore (since January) as I thought at the time that there was just so much creativity out there with all of the wonderful new and growing stamping companies and I did not want to be limited (financially) to being able to buy SU products to fulfill my obligation every quarter. (I was a hobby demo only) Kudos to you for doing what feels right for you.
As for this card, well..it is gorgeous! Love the colours and the inside is darling. Thanks for all that you have always given to us and I look forward to all of your future creations.
    love,
    Chriss

  13. Another beauty, Beate!! I am sooo doing this on a card next week!! Love the colors you chose for your background!!

  14. Looking forward to creating for #100 to celebrate WCMD. Thanks for sharing your SU! decision with us. I am an Australian demo and am wondering if/when it will be bought in for us….no word yet.

  15. I always follow your site, but have been watching to see what you would decide about SU. I, too, have spread my wings. I really hadn’t broken any of the “rules”, but there were several things that I, as a person living in a free country, could not accept. Also, I have been disheartened by how some demos have handled the descent. You and those other extraordinarily talented demos will be a great loss to SU.

  16. Blessings on taking care of you and going with your heart.

    You are a gem.

  17. Eine wundervolle Karte liebe Beate.

  18. Wow, this card is beautiful! I love the colour combo and the leaf pattern. You, Beate, are inspiration to us all.
I am with you on your decision, and look forward to seeing what you create now that there is freedom to do so. I am A demo in Australia, and we await the same news.

  19. Beatte — I can only echo everyone else’s comments that SU has lost a very valuable resource. I just don’t understand the decisions they are making. I appreciate your blog every day. I was really sorry I missed you in Cincinnati. I am admire you for sticking to your principles! Blessings. SMB

  20. Hi Beate, It’s such a shame that you and so many talented SU Demos have had their hands forced and have had to choose to stay in exclusively or get out. It shouldn’t be that way, but I’m sure you’ve had long discussions on that already. You bring inspiration and creativity to all your cards, regardless of who you represent, so I’m glad you’ve made the decision that you have. Thanks for sharing your talents with all of us stampers. Hugs,

  21. you go gal, you have to do what is best for you rather than stampin up. How could they even think that somenone would not use a product other than theirs, especially when they don’t have that product. A lot more voices will be heard on this issue. If they thought it was tough now, wait until later. MaryAnn

  22. Stunning card. I love the color combo and the layers!

  23. so love the colors in the background and the pretty sentiment tag!

  24. Thanks for the video tutorial of this technique! This is a gorgeous card! I love the fall colors.

  25. OH OH OH! BEAUTIFUL CARD!!! I have this set, too~~and all I needed was a bit of inspiration! You provided that with perfection, and I thank you!
I too decided not to sign the IDA. I don’t even have a blog, but just didn’t feel I could support what they were doing. Plus, all the negativity from some other demos really turned me off!
You have a fabulous blog, and I will always look to you for inspiration. Happy WCMD! May you have a fun, productive experience! 😀

  26. I have bought many SU stamp sets because you made a wonderful card with them. So sad that Stampin Up does not see how much positive publicity you and other demonstrators have generated for them!
    Enjoy your freedom.
We enjoy your creativity and style!

  27. Beate! This card is simply delish! The colors are too perfect. I hear you on SU as I too stepped down. I still want to get with you and stamp sometime though. 45 mins away and we still haven’t gotten together?? Something isn’t right here. 😉

  28. This is such a gorgeous autumn card, Beate!! I just LOVE it!!

  29. I am sad that you will no longer be a demonstrator! I always enjoyed looking to you for inspiration with new SU! stuff. I see both sides of things and see how it would be hard for many people to stick with one or the other. I wish you the best!
