Today’s tutorial on SCS  was written by Cindy Coutts. She is showing us how to create a matchbook holder for Post-It Note Pads. My video tutorial shows how to create a matchbook for regular sized pads, Cindy’s shows how to create a cover for 3″ x 4″ pads.

My matchbook base is a 3 1/8″ x 9 1/4″ piece of Ridinghood Red cardstock. The edges were sponged with Aged Mahogany Distress ink and the strip was scored at 3 3/8″, 3 3/4″ and 7 3/4″. The edge of the short flap was punched with Stampin’ Up!’s Eyelet Border punch.

The image is from Flourishes new Calendar Set 1. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah White cardstock and cut out with Circle Nestabilities. I left the Nestabilities die on and colored the image with Copic Markers (B00, B000, Y35, Y38, G40, G82, G85, G94, R32, R35, R39).  It was layered first on a slightly bigger circle out of black cardstock, then on a scalloped circle cut out of Ridinghood Red.

Orange Peel Stickles was added over the center of the flower, Crystal Effect over the rest of it to make it stand out more. May Arts double sided satin ribbon finishes off the holder.

  1. 😀 I saw the orange Stickles in the photo in the Resource page, but didn’t look closer to see where you’d used them. They are perfect on those lovely flowers. I totally love the colours you’ve used for this, they remind me so much of my favourite polyanthus in the garden when I was little – I loved that deep plum/purple colour.
Wishing you a Happy New Year.
