As part of Unity’s two year anniversary, challenges were posted every day. Yesterday’s challenge was hosted by Jenn, Lori and me. The challenge was to use a sketch, patterned paper, Buttons or bling.

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock folded in half. The front edges were sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.  Four 1 1/16″ x 2 1/4″ strips of Earth Love Cosmo Cricket paper strips were stitched to the bottom of a  4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock. The sentiment is and image are from Simply Magical. They were both stamped in Walnut Stain Distress ink.

The image was stamped, then cut out with Nestabilities Label 1, then sponged with Antique Linen while the die was still over the cardstock. Stardust Stickles were added over the fairy wings and the mushroom. It was layered on a bigger Chocolate Chip label that was covered with Tiny Twinkles.

To finish the card off, three buttons on the bottom right threaded with embroidery floss.

Today’s card is created with Unity’s new Get Scrappy With Material Girl stamp set. It matches the Cosmo Cricket Patterned paper with the same name.  Make sure you check the blog hop button on the bottom of the post to keep viewing more samples made with new Unity releases.

My card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Chocolate chip cardstock. The edges of the card front were sponged with Walnut Stain Distress ink. The patterned paper (like all patterned paper on this card) is from Cosmo Cricket’s Material Girl paper pad. It measures 4″ x 5 1/4″. The edges were sanded, then sponged first with Antique Linen , then with Walnut stain.

The patchwork background was cut with Stampin’ Up!’s Top Note die and the edges of the paper were zig zag stitched. Here is a video tutorial for the visual learner on how to create the background:

Three buttons (S.e.i. Paisley & Petals as well as $1 red buttons from Michaels) were added to the top right.

The tag was stamped in Sepia Archival Ink on Gina K Ivory cardstock,  cut out and sponged with Antique Linen Distress ink. The sentiment was stamped in Jet Black Archival Ink.  I cut a small square of patterned paper, sponged it with Peeled Paint Distress ink and adhered it to the tag top. A small eyelet was set over it and red polka dot ribbon threaded through.

The swirl stamp of the set was partially stamped on the lower left with Peeled Paint. A dimensional flower was secured over it. The flower was created out of three flower images that had been stamped on patterned paper. In the center of the flower are three wires covered in Ultrafine Strawberry FlowerSoft. Here is a video on how to create this flower. The video shows how to create the flowers with grunge paper. Patterned paper works as well.

I kept the inside of the card pretty simple. A 1″ x 5 1/4″ strip of Material girl paper was adhered to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer of Ivory cardstock. The edges were sponged with Antique Linen Distress ink. The flower was stamped twice, once on the yellow, once on the red patterned paper and cut out, sponged and layered on top of each other. To top the flower off I added black Kaisercraft Rhinestones.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

Note:

I apologize for forgetting to set the Patchwork video to public. I changed the settings now (6:13 a.m.) and everyone should be able to view it. Sorry!

Anne Harada created todays tutorial on Splitcoaststampers. She shows us how to decorate a battery operated tealight so it will look like a little cake.

Sorry I have been so quiet. I am going through another stamping “slump” phase. First I watched all the Bones episodes, then I started reading a book series and this week I have been fighting with nasty migraine attacks.

I won’t show you the entire card because I wasn’t quite happy with the way it turned out. The card is too busy!!!  I am telling you…major slump over here.

Here is a video I shot for last weeks newsletter for the Faux Cloisonne tutorial:

Sorry I have been so quiet this week. There hasn’t been a lot of stamping for me. The kids are home on spring break. Plus I started watching Bones on Netflix. Now I am hooked. I really like the characters on the show. Thank you for everyone wishing me a Happy Birthday yesterday.  I had a great day!

This week’s Tutorials you might have missed in the weekly inkling was 3D stamping. Lynn Mercurio wrote a great tutorial for SCS last year. Here is the card I created for the video tutorial.

sa3dnaturesmomentbeate.jpg

My card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock folded in half. Pink Paislee’s Bayberry Cottage paper was sanded and taped together to a 3 3/4″ x 5″ layer. Chocolate Satin Ribbon was tied around the area where the paper overlapped. The layer was stitched to a 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ piece of Chocolate chip cardstock that had been sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

For the main image I cute an oval out of Baja Breeze cardstock with Petite Oval Nestabilities. I sponged the edges with Stormy Sky distress ink and stamped with the script from Mini Ornates. The flower/weed from Nature’s Moments was first stamped in Stormy Sky, then in Snow Cap Adirondack ink. The oval was layered first on a Chocolate Chip oval (sponged with Walnut Stain), then on a white callop oval.

All brads used were from Recollections. The sentiment is also from Nature’s Moments. I inked it partly with Walnut Stain, stamped it on white cardstock and punched it out with the large oval punch from Stampin’ Up!. It was sponged with Shabby Shutter Distress ink and part of the weed was stamped on the right hand side of the oval with Stormy Sky. The oval was layered on a Styled Silver hardware piece from Stampin’ Up!

Today’s tutorial on SCS is for the Acrylic Distress technique I learned at Ranger U. If you follow my blog, you already know how to create the background from this post. I love the look this technique creates. For my sample I used the Color Combo from the Color Challenge on SCS a couple of weeks ago.

ladcrackledtogetherbeate.jpg

The card base was created out of a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Dusty Durango cardstock. It was folded in half. The card front was sponged with Rusty Hinge, the edges with Walnut Stain. On the lower 2/3 I stamped a script from Mini Ornates in Walnut stain. The swirl on the lower left is from the same set.

For the background I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White with Label 8 Nestabilities and embossed it with the Fleur De Lis Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. It was painted with Shell Pink Acrylic Paint, sanded and then sponged with Walnut Stain ink. The background was then buffed with a slightly damp rag to take off the ink over the acrylic paint.

The main images is from Lizzie Ann Designs Lucky You. It was stamped in Walnut Stain ink on Neenah White cardstock, embossed with Walnut Stain Distress Embossing powder and cut out with Postage scissors. Then it was sponged with Old Paper, Vintage Photo and a hint of Walnut Stain. The entire piece was covered in Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.

The sentiment is also from the Lucky You set. It was stamped in Walnut Stain on Neenah White, sponged with Old Paper and adhered to an oval Fragment with Glossy Accents. A jump ring was adhered to the back and 1/4″ May Arts silk ribbon was tied to the top. The flowers are from Prima’s Daisy Doodles, the buttons from Stampin’ Up!’s neutral button collection, Making Memories and Basic Grey.

I actually shot two videos for the Glitter Puzzle Tutorial. One where you cut your puzzle with a hobby knife, and this one where I use Tim’s new Fanciful Flight Alteration Die.

The card base was cut out of Chocolate chip cardstock with Stampin’ Up!’s Big shot scallop square die. I cut another piece for my card front and sponged the edges with Walnut Stain distress ink.  I inked up the big flower image from a Nature’s Moment with Peeled Paint and Chipped Sapphire. It was stamped on  4″ square of Just Dreamy 2 My Mind’s Eye paper.

 sanaturesmomentsbutterflybe.jpg

The edges were sponged with Broken China Distress ink and stamped with the stitch stamp from Spring Sprung. (If you were following my blog 2 years ago…I was obsessed with using a stamp from All in a Row to fake stitching. This Tim stamp is sooo cool! I might get obsessed with using that.)

The sentiment is from Going Somewhere. It was stamped in Walnut ink and embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. Stardust Stickles was added over the flower ends.

I ran a sheet of cardstock through my Xyron to add double sided adhesive. Then I cut the butterfly twice, once with the adhesive side up, once with the cardstock side up.  If you cut the butterfly the same way twice, you will have two left glittery wings. :)

I attached the solid wing pieces to the card base with dimensionals, peeled off the adhesive backing and adhered the detailed wing part over it. Then I rubbed Red, Orange and Yellow Martha Stewart Glitter over the wing. After I tapped off the excess, I peeled the adhesive backing off the detailed stamp and added Brown Glitter.

For yesterday’s OCL sketch challenge I got out my new set In Flight. It is so pretty.

I started by cutting an oval with Petite Oval Nestabilities out of Solar White Neenah cardstock. I sponged it with Wild Honey, Peeled Paint , Fired Brick and Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I scribbled Glossy Accents over part of the oval and pressed a piece of a page from a dictionary page over the glue and let dry. Then I ripped the rest of the page off and sponged over the library piece. Last I covered the entire oval in Rock Candy Distress Stickles.

Next I stamped the dotted background and swirls over the oval in Jet black Archival ink. I also stamped the big  background in the upper center of the cardstock. I stamped it again on grunge paper. I cut it out, sponged it with Peeled Paint and Chipped Sapphire and then added Peeled Paint and Broken China Distress Stickles.

ocldt07rcbutterflybeate.jpg

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Ruby Red cardstock. The edges were sponged with Aged Mahogany Distress ink and the bottom corners were rounded. A  3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Laundry Line Designer Paper was stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Basic Black cardstock.

The horizontal layers started out as 7/8″ x 4 1/4″ piece of White cardstock. They were sponged and stamped. The black piece was punched with the Martha Stewart Deco Shell Border Punch. The sentiment was stamped in Jet Black Archival ink and punched out with Stampin’ Up!’s large oval punch. The edges were sponged first with Wild Honey, then with Aged Mahogany Distress inks. Tiny Tinkles were added as a flight tail behind the Butterfly.

The 1/2″ wide Silk ribbon started out in ivory. It was sponged first in Vintage Photo, then with Aged Mahogany. The dotted background was stamped all over the ribbon. After it dried it was tied into a bow with Bow-Easy and attached to the card with glue dots.

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful Easter weekend! Hugs and smiles

I am still trying to come up with CAS cards … at least once in a while. It is definitely a big challenge for me. AJ and Maren do so well with Unity stamps, I just had to try again. Please check the Unity blog to see all entries for the FWF blog hop.

My card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Always Artichoke cardstock folded in half. The My Mind’s Eye Oh La La paper measures 2 3/4″ x 4 1/4″. One side was wavy cut, each edge was sanded and sponged with Antique Linen. The top edge was paper pierced. May Arts Ivory Satin Ribbon was tied around the top edge of the paper.

The sentiment stamps are from {Rockin’ it Unity style}. They were stamped in Jet Black Archival Ink. Pearl Kaisercraft Pearls were attached next to the sentiment. To add some Umpf to the card I painted a Harlequin Grungeboard Elements heart first with a mix of Snow Cap and Espresso Paint Dabber (to create a beige), then with Dash of Red Claudine Hellmuth Paint. It was sanded, then sponged with Black Soot Distress ink. I thought it would be cute to attach the heart to the card with an X made the Tiny Attacher.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful Easter Weekend! Hugs and smiles

Last week I redid the Glitter Puzzle tutorial. At Ranger U, we got to play with a lot of Stampers Anonymous as well as Just For Fun Rubber stamps. I fell in love with this tree  from Just For Fun Stamps and had to it right away.

jffglittertreebeate.jpg

My card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Dusty Durango cardstock folded in half.  The card front was sponged with Rusty Hinge, then stamped with the script and swirl from Mini Ornates in Walnut Stain Distress ink. The edges were sponged with Walnut ink.

For the main image I adhered a double sided adhesive sheet to cardstock, then cut it with Nestabilities Label 8. The glitter background was created with Martha Stewart glitter. The tree was stamped with Black Stazon. The sentiment was stamped with Walnut Stain ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock. It was punched out with a label punch from Stampin’ Up! It was sponged with Rusty Hinge and a bit of Walnut Stain Distress inks. The May Arts striped ribbon was attached with a Jump Ring through a Washer.
