Today’s tutorial on SCS is for a corner bookmark. I made the sample for this back at the VSN at the end of May and thought it would make a great tutorial. It has been a technique challenge on SCS a while ago, but I had never tried it before VSN.

fllccherryblossombookmarkvs.jpg

The bookmark base is a 4″ square of Sno Cone cardstock. The top corners were folded in and the bottom edge was cut and embossed with Eyelet Borderabilities. The edge of a 4″ wide strip of Pink Pirouette cardstock was cut with a Long Rectangle Nestabilities and layered with Fly A Kite October Afternoon Paper. The edges were stitched and a pink silk ribbon was tied around it.

The image is from Flourishes Cherry Blossoms set. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink , colored with Copic Markers (E29, YG93, YG95, YG99, R01, R32, R35, R39) and cut out.  A piece of Solar White Neenah Cardstock as well as a piece of Chocolate chip cardstock were cut with Label 3 Nestabilities. The white piece was airbrushed with Copic Marker BG10 while the Label die was still on. The cut out image was adhered to the label with dimensionals. The Chocolate Chip layer was sponged with Walnut Stain Distress ink before the white later was attached.

This is another card I made for the VSN challenge.  I stamped the poppy image from There She Goes. It was stamped with Walnut Stain Distress Ink on Fabriano paper. It was embossed with clear embossing powder and colored with Tumbled Glass, Fired Brick and Spiced Marmelade Re-inker and Aqua Painter. I tried out a Watercolor Bleed technique that Christine Okken posted on her blog a while back. The image was cut with Label 12 Nestabilities and adhered to another piece of Fabriano Paper with Dimensionals.

tsgbleedingpoppiesbeate.jpg

The card base is a 3 5/8″ x 11″ piece of Sour Apple cardstock folded in half. The sentiment and butterfly are from the Poppies set. They were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Fabriano paper. The sentiment was cut with Ribbon Tag Nestabilities, the butterfly with scissors. The inside of the tag was colored with Spiced Marmelade Re-inker, the butterfly with Tumbled Glass.

Green Gingham Ribbon finishes off the card. thanks so much for stopping by. Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

I made this card a while ago for one of the last VSN challenges. Faith challenged us to watercolor using mostly the color brown. I thought that challenge would be perfect for Flourishes gorgeous Antique Map.  The map was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Watercolor Paper. It was colored with Aqua Pen and Vintage Photo and Tumbled Glass Reinker. I am sorry to say that I can’t give you measurements because I don’t have the card anymore. I think the watercolor paper measured 3 1/2″ x 5″, but I am not quite sure. The edges were distressed before it was layered on a slightly bigger piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock, sponged with Walnut Stain Distress ink.

fllcantiquemapwatercoloredv.jpg

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Gina K.’s Pure Luxury Ivory cardstock folded in half. I stamped the rope stamp first horizontal, then vertical with Walnut Stain distress ink and sponged the edges in the same color.

The sentiment is from Flourishes Cherry Blossom. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and cut with Label 13 Nestabilities. The edges were sponged with Vintage Photo, the center with Tumbled Glass Distress ink. An Idea-ology  sprocket gear was attached to the top of the with a piece of twill underneath.

I created this card for Flourishes Color Challenge a couple weeks back. It was the first time I played with Flourishes Beauty Within set. I have to say I really like it. It was fun to color. I stamped it in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored it in with Copic Markers (BG10, BG11, YG01, YG03, YG25, Y13, Y15, Y19). It was cut out and embossed with Label 11 Nestabilities. I traced the outside of the die on black cardstock and cut it out so I would have an 1/8″ layer to adhere my image to.

fllcjun10beautywithinblueye.jpg

The card base is a 5″ x 10″ piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock folded in half. The lower edge of a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Nightlight October Afternoon paper was cut with Jumbo Scalloped Borderabilities. A thin 5″ wide strip of Thrift Store October afternoon paperwas cut with the same die and layered underneath. The top of the Nightlight paper was layered first on a strip of a Basic Black cardstock, then on another Thrift Store paper piece. This one was cut with one Lattice Borderabilities die.

The horizontal paper strip measures 2 1/2″ x 3″ and is from the Daydream collection from October Afternoon. The small strip of lace (Walmart) was stitched on the bottom layer. The bottom of the strip was stitched as well. May Arts Crochet Lace was adhered over that strip and an Organdy Ribbon was tied around the layer. The image was attached over everything with dimensionals.

I created this card a while back for the last VSN as well as one of the Just For Fun Color challenges. For this card I used a sketch from the Go to Sketches magazine.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Basic Black cardstock folded in half. The bottom two corners were rounded with a retired corner rounder from Stampin’ Up!.

A circle was cut out of October Afternoon Thrift Store paper and layered on a Medallion cut out of Neenah Solar White cardstock with the Kaleidoscope Pendant die from Spellbinders. Seashell silk ribbon was tied around the lower part of the circle layers.

vervebeautifulyoujff13.jpg

The flower was cut with Kaleidoscope Pendant die and the flower that comes with the Scallop frame out of beige Tissue paper. I mixed Spiced Marmelade Reinker, water and Copper Perfect Pearls in a Mini Mister to create my own shimmer spray. The flower pieces were held together with a Recollection Brad and then sprayed with the shimmer spray. I dried it with my heat tool and repeated that process several time. Once the flower was a color I liked, I fluffed it up after the flower was dry.

The sentiment is from Verve’s Beautiful You. It was stamped on Neenah Solar White cardstock in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and cut with Ribbon Tag die from Spellbinders. While the die was still over the cardstock, I sponged Spiced Marmelade Distress ink over it and stamped the accent stamp of Beautiful you in the same color. A small filigree brad (Stampin’ Up!) with a smaller Recollection brad was added to the left edge of the sentiment.

vervebeautifulyoujff13insid.jpg

The inside of the card was layered with 4″ Whisper White cardstock that had the bottom two corners rounded like the card base. A 1 1/8″ x 4″ strip of October Afternoon paper strip was added to the lower half and the accent stamp was used with Spiced Marmelade to add a bit more interest.

I made this card for the sketch challenge this week on SCS. I had Hot Betty for a bit and haven’t used her . The sketch this week was perfect for her.

I stamped Betty on a 1 7/8″ x 3 3/8″ piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. She was colored with Copic Markers (R24, R29, E50, E51, C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, BG10) and stitched on a slightly bigger piece of Basic Black cardstock. The layers were adhered to a piece of Basic Grey cardstock that had been cut with Long Rectangle Nestabilities. White dots were added to the skirt with an Inkessential White Opaque Pen to create more interest.

oclhotbettysc286reserve2.jpg

The cardbase is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic Black cardstock folded in half. A 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Hometown October Afternoon paper was stitched to a 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ piece of Neenah White cardstock. Red Satin Ribbon was tied around it before a stitched 1 3/4″ x 4 1/2″ piece of stitched Hometown paper was adhered over it with dimensionals.

The sentiment is also from Hot Betty. It was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and cut out with Fancy Tag Spellbinders die. I cut the fancy part off. The oval was the perfect shape. The image was airbrushed with BG10. To finish the card front off I added three black Kaisercraft Rhinestones to the lower right hand corner.

oclhotbettyinside.jpg

The inside of the card is pretty simple. A couple of more Hometown paper strips were stitched to a 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ piece of Whisper White cardstock. The rest of the sentiment was stamped on Neenah White cardstock, cut with Petite Oval Nestablities and airbrushed with Copic Marker R24.

There is a new online store called Inspiration Emporium. I will start selling some of my cards there soon.  I am excited and a bit nervous about that. To celebrate the grand opening I received a coupon to share with you. 20% off orders! How sweet is that?

I made this card for the Inkadinkado product review last week on SCS. I received the Flower Inchies stamp set as well as an Iridescent Pigment ink and decided to combine both to make this card.

inkadinkadoshimmeryflowers.jpg

My card base is a 3 3/4″ x 7 1/2″ piece of Sour Apple cardstock folded in half. A 3 1/8″ square of Basic Grey cardstock was sewn to a Whisper White cardstock square that measures 3 3/16″. I cut four white cardstock pieces with the smalles of the Label 1 Nestabilities and stamped  images in Blush Iridescent Pigment ink on three of my four labels. On the fourth label I added a pink Prima Daisy Doodle Flower with a bit of retired Stampin’ Up! ribbon underneath. The flower was topped off with the largest half pearl in Stampin’ Up! Pretties kit. It was adhered with Glossy Accents.

You can’t see it in the photograph, but the the flowers shimmery so pretty, like they were stamped on Shimmery cardstock.

Today’s tutorial on SCS is written by Wendy Weixler, Wendybell on SCS. She created a darling All-in-One Box with Template for us. The box comes together pretty fast. I used some of my favorite patterned paper and a super cute sentiment and stamp from The Cat’s Pajamas for my sample.

tcp29againaioboxbeate.jpg

My Box base is created from Chocolate Chip cardstock. The patterned paper strip on the bottom measures 2 1/4″ x 9 1/4″, the small strip on top measures 1/2″ x 9 1/4″. Both are from the Weathervane collection from October Afternoon. I added some stitching (I can’t help myself! Everything looks better stitched to me) and taped the box together with Scor-Tape.

The sentiment and the image are both from You Say it’s Your Birthday set. I LOVE that sentiment. I think that’s what all my birthday cards should say from now on. LOL They were stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on Neenah Classic Cream cardstock. The sentiment was cut out with Circle Nestabilities, layered on a Kiwi Kiss circle and then on a Chocolate Chip layer that had been cut with Label 9 Nestabilities. The sentiment layer was airbrushedwhile the circle die was still on top with Copic Marker BG10.

The image was cut out, the present paper pieced with the same paper used for the thin strip on the box top and a bit color was added with Copic Markers (Y17, BG10). Yellow Stickles was added to the bow and the polka dots on the present. Before the image and sentiment were adhered to the box with dimensionals, I added a cream silk ribbon bow on the upper edge of the box. To finish the box off and add just a tad more sparkle, I added Tiny Twinkles to the cat’s collar and the upper right edge of the sentiment.

I had so much fun making this card last month during VSN. The challenge was to create a curtain. I cut the edge of a piece of fabric with the Scalloped Scallop Die-namic Die. The opposite side was folded over and stitched to give my a place to slide my small wooden stick through . The curtain was gathered with a small piece of Pink Taffeta Ribbon.

mftlatherrinsevsnbeate.jpg

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Sour Apple Cardstock folded in half. Two pieces of Ducks in a Row October Afternoon Paperwere cut to 3 3/4″ in width, and stitched to a 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ piece of Whisper White cardstock with a piece of white lace (Walmart) inbetween.

The image from Lather Rinse Repeat was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and cut with classic Oval Nestabilities. Part of the image was paper pieced (floor, bath cap and bath tub) with more Ducks in a Row paper, the rest was colored with Copic Markers (E00, E11, E25, E29, E31). The paper pieced parts were sponged with Tumbled Glass, Broken China and Worn Lipstick distress ink for shading. The bubbles were covered with Crafty Sparkles Chunky Crystal. I love that chunky glitter.

The sentiment is also from the Lather Rinse Repeat. It was stamped directly on my patterned paper layer with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. Two Basic Grey buttons on the top right finish off the card.

This card was created for a Color Challenge on SCS. The colors were Barely Banana, Close to Cocoa, Garden green with a dash of Soft Sky. I combined this challenge with the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge of that week.

The image is from Flourishes Thank You stamp set. It was stamped on Watercolor Paper with Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and then colored with Stampin’ Up! Markers (Barely Banana, Apricot Appeal, Mellow Moss, Garden Green) and Aqua Painter. It was cut out with Circle Nestabilities and layered on a Label 1 Nestabilities die cut out of Close to Cocoa cardstock.  Champagne Kaisercraft Pearls were added ot the top right and lower left corner of that die cut.

fllcthankyoucc273mmsc56beat.jpg

The card base is a 5″ x 10″ piece of Barely Banana cardstock folded in half. A 1 1/2″ x 4 1/2″ piece of Thrift Store October Afternoon paper was layered over a small strip of Very Vanilla cardstock that had been cut and embossed with Eyelet Borderabilities. That strip was layered on a 4 1/2″ square of Thrift Store paper. The square was stitched to a 3/16″ bigger square of Close to Cocoa Cardstock. 1/2″ wide silk Ribbon was tied around the layers on the top, two strips of lace were attached to the bottom part. Hardware from the Vanilla Hodgepodge Hardware kit (Stampin’ Up!) was added to the lace. The sentiment is from the background stamp of the Thank you set.
