This card was created for a Free For all Challenge on SCS. Jeanne challenged us to make a masculine card. I tried to do so by using no ribbon, no flowers and dark patterned paper. I think I messed it up a bit when I added the scalloped edge, but I just couldn’t help myself.

oclsayitbigf4a15boything.jpg

The card base is a 7″ x 8″ piece of Kraft cardstock, folded in half. The edges of a 4″ x 7″ piece of October Afternoon Hometown paper were sanded, sponged with Antique Linen and a border was stitched on the edges before it was adhered to the card front.

A 1 7/8″ x 7″ piece of the same Hometown paper (other side) was sanded, sponged with Antique Linen and was stitched to a wider Very Vanilla cardstock strip that had been cut with Jumbo Scallop Borderabilities.

The sentiment is from the Our Craft Lounge set Say it Big. It was stamped in Jet Black Archival Ink on a 1 3/8″ x 3 7/8″ piece of Kraft cardstock. The edges were distressed and a row was pierced under the saying. The card needed some kind of embellishment, so I opted for two ivory buttons that were threaded with linen colored Burlap string.

Jackie Topa wrote today’s tutorial on a Stationery Box. That tutorial came right in time for me to create two great teacher gifts. They really liked the gift, along with the Barnes & Nobles gift card I added.

mmestationaryboxvideosample.jpg

I kept my box and my cards pretty simple. For my box and card I used two sheets of My Mind’s Eye Penny Lane paper. You will need really thick patterned paper like Penny Lane or cardstock for this project.

I had to split up the video in two parts. The project is not hard, it just has a lot of steps. So here are the two videos for the visual learner:

The Free for All Challenge a couple of weeks back was to create a card inspired by one of your collections (not including your stamping supplies). I don’t really collect many things, but I LOVE to read and to watch movies. I figured…that leads to a comfy a chair and I picked Our Craft’s Live, Laugh, Lounge stamp set to create the card. That way I could make the card also work for the OCL sketch of that week.

The chair was stamped on Gina K. Pure Luxury Ivory cardstock in Tuxedo Black Memento ink. It was cut out with Label 13 Nestabilities and colored with Copic Markers (R29, R59, E50, E51). With the die still on the cardstock, the image was air brushedwith Copic Marker E50. The layer was then adhered to a slightly bigger black layer. Next I stamped the chair again on a piece of October Afternoon Thrift Store paper. The pillow was cut out, sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress ink and adhered over the main image. A black Kaisercraft Rhinestone finishes off the main image.

ocllivelaughlf4a14beate.jpg

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Wild Cherry cardstock (My Favorite Things) folded in half. A  1 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ strip of October Afternoon The Thrift store paper was adhered over a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of the same paper pack. The paper was sanded and then stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Basic Black cardstock.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set. It was stamped on Ivory cardstock in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, cut out with Petite Oval Nestabilities and airbrushed with Copic Marker YG41. To finish off the card a red Gingham ribbon bow was attached the left of the image and more black Rhinestones were added to the top right and bottom left.

Last Monday the Technique Lover Challenge at SCS was to create a Tent card. That was a fun challenge. I followed the instructions given at the challenge, but next time I make one of these cards, I make it out of two pieces not three. Just a 8 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ piece of cardstock folded in half and a smaller piece scored for the bottom part.

For this card I cut two 4 1/4″ pieces of Bermuda Bay cardstock for front and bottom of the card. The inner part of the card front was cut down so it would only be a 3/4″ wide frame left. A 3 3/4″ square of My Mind’s eye Love me Do Paper was adhered to a 3 15/16″ Whisper White square. A window was cut into the center with Label 1 Nestabilities. A strip of Boo! To You My Mind’s Eye paper was cut with the Scalloped Scallop Die-namic die, sponged with Peeled Paint Distress ink and adhered to the bottom of the window layers. A border was stitched around the edges. A 4″ square of Love me Do paper was adhered to the back of the card.

mftthinkingofhootlc275beate.jpg

The owl from Thinking of Hoo was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock. It was colored with Copic Markers (E27, E29, E31, E35, E97, YR14). It was cut out and adhered to the window. Leaves were cut with the SizzixLittle Leaves die, sponged with Peeled paint. A bit of definition with Copic Marker YG25.

The layers were adhered to the card front and the front was attached to the back with Basic Grey Brads. Clouds were cut out of Neenah Solar White cardstock with the Cloud Die-namic die, sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress ink and adhered to the card top. Stardust stickles were added to the edge of the clouds and the sentiment of the set was stamped inside the biggest cloud with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

To add a little something something, I rolled a May Arts striped ribbon into a flower, added a half pearl from Stampin’ Up!’s Pretties kit on top and another Little Leaves die cut out of Boo! to you paper in the bottom right corner. To finish off the tent card I scored a 3″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock every 3/4″, folded the score lines Mountain/Valley style and taped it to the bottom of the card.

Last week the Featured stamper was Emily Montenaro. She creates beautiful clean and simple cards. That is usually hard for me, but I gave it a try. This card also worked for the VSN challenge Singing in the Rain. We were to be inspired by the song “Singing in the Rain”. I loved that song and that movie when I was little. I used Lizzie Ann Designs February Monthly Mixed called Singing in the Rain.

I picked this card of hers to case. I switched the card base from White to Kraft and changed the image. But I kept the layout and made it a CAS card.

My card base measures 4 1/4″ x 11″ and was folded in half. The corners were rounded with a retired corner rounder from Stampin’ Up! The image and sentiment were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. The little chick was colored with Prismacolor Pencils. The little umbrella was paper pieced with patterned paper from the October Afternoon Ducks in a Row patterned paper pack. The edges of the umbrella were

I cut clouds out of Neenah Solar White cardstock with the MFT Cloud Die-namics die. The edges were sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. The same was done to the umbrella before it was adhered to the card base.

When I played with my Encaustic Wax I made quite a few backgrounds. It is such a great technique! Here is another card I made with one of the backgrounds.

For this background I think I used yellow, red, black and white wax. I cut the background with Circle Nestabilities. It was layered first on a black, then on a white cardstock circle. I stamped the sentiment and star from Verve’s Starstruck in Jet Black Archival Ink.

vervestarstruckencausticbj.jpg

The card base is a 4 3/4″ x 9 1/2″ piece of Dusty Durango cardstock folded in half. The edges of a  3 15/16″ square of textured Basic Gray cardstock were punched with the Ticket Corner punch. It was stitched on a 4 1/8″ square of Basic Black cardstock and then adhered to a white cardstock square measuring 4 5/16″. The corner of both bigger squares were also punched with the ticket corner punch.

The image layers were adhered to the center of the squares and Silver Kaisercraft Rhinestones were placed around the circles.

vervestarstruckencausticins.jpg

For the inside of the card I stamped a 1 3/8″ x 3 3/8″ strip of Dusty Durango with Rusty Hinge Distress ink and the big star image from the set. It was layered on a small black scallop strip and stitched to a 3 3/8″ square of Whisper White. That was then layered first on a basic black then a basic gray cardstock square.

I cut a small circle out of the same background with Circle Nestabilities, layered it on a slightly bigger black circle and stamped the You’re a Star from the Starstruck set in it’s center with Jet Black Archival Ink.

Another Friday, another Friends with Flair Blog hop! For this sample I colored the Feel the Joy image with Stampin’ Up! Markers (Real Red, Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive), misted it and then stamped it on a 4 1/4″ square Natural Ivory card. I masked the outer edge of the card and sponged the inside with Antique Linen. I stamped the Vintage Ledger background (LOOOOVE it!) in the same color and then added the sentiment in Walnut Stain Distress ink.

unitymistedflowercasbeate.jpg

The bottom corners of the card were rounded with a retired Stampin’ Up! corner rounder. A frame was cut with Label 1 Nestabilities out of Chocolate Chip cardstock, sponged with Walnut Stain Distress ink and adhered around the image. Split Pea Kaisercraft Rhinestones finish off the card front.

The inside of the card is so simple, I didn’t take a picture. I just stamped the flower image in Antique Linen on the left hand side of the inside.

For a Color Challenge on SCS I used this cute Pure Innocence stamp: Apple For you. I stamped her in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored her in with Copic Markers (C1, E00, E02, R20,  E43, E44, E47, BV23, BG00, B93, YG03, YG17, R29, R59, Yr21, Y28). It was cut out with Label 3 Nestabilities. I left the die on the cardstock and airbrushed the background with Copic Marker YR21. The apple, hair clip and little heart on the jumper were covered with Glossy Accents. The image was first layered on a slightly bigger piece of Chocolate chip cardstock that had been sponged with Walnut Stain Distress ink, then on a Classic Square Rectangle Nestabilities die cut out of Real Red cardstock (sponged with Fired Brick).

mftappleforyoucc272beate.jpg

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Real Red cardstock folded in half. The edges of the card front were sponged with Fired Brick.  A 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Fancy Pants All Fall patterned paper was sanded and stitched to a 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ piece of Kraft cardstock that had been first sponged with Walnut Stain, then sanded to let the cardstock peek through for an aged look. A strip of cork was cut with the Jumbo Scallop Die-namic die  and stitched to a 2″ x 3 3/4″ piece of All Fall paper.

The sentiment was stamped in Tuxedo Black Ink on the same patterned paper used as background and cut with Petite Oval Nestabilities. May Arts ribbon was tied to a bow and topped with a My Mind’s Eye button. The card was finished off with Black Rhinestones.

mftappleforyoucc272inside.jpg

For the inside of the card I adhered a red jumbo scallop border under a 1 3/8″ x 3 15/16″ piece of All Fall Paper. The paper was sanded, then stitched to a 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ white cardstock piece. To finish it off I punched a 3/4″ cork circle (Yep, you can punch those cork sheets) and stitched it to the card with brown waxed linen.

Today’s tutorial is for a quick and cute gift idea, a grungeboard bracelet. I saw Alli Gower wear one during Ranger U and I knew I had to share this cool idea with you.

grungeboardbracelet2bj.jpg

My sample measures 1 1/2″ in width and was cut out of Swirl Grungeboard. It was painted with Pool Adirondack Paint Dabber, sanded and sponged with Walnut Stain distress ink. To soften it up, I added Pearl Adirondack Paint Dabber over it. The closure of this bracelet is a hinge fastener.

The flower was cut with Tim’s Tattered Floral Die. It was colored with Sunset Orange Paint Dabber, the edges darkened with Red Pepper Adirondack Paint. It was sewn on to the bracelet and topped with a Basic Grey Button.

I usually try to use only stamps from one company on a card, but this one has three! The main image is from Tim Holtz Nature’s Discovery, then I needed a background stamp for the Kraft cardstock and used Unity’s Giving it All meaning. I only had a small spot for the sentiment and this one from Flourishes Taglines fit perfectly. The card was created for a Technique Challenge over on SCS. The challenge was to create a card with the Black Magic technique. I usually don’t like the look of this technique…but after playing with it for a bit, really liked how this card turned out. It looks better IRL.
sastamphodgepodgetlc274beat.jpg

I stamped the image from Nature’s Moments  in Snow cap pigment ink on black cardstock and colored it with Prismacolor Pencils (Dark Brown, Marine Green, Limepeel,  Yellow and Pumpkin Orange). It was cut out with Classic Rectangle Nestabilities. It was layered on the next size rectangle in Kraft cardstock. The layers were stitched together to give it an extra border and the edges of the cardstock was distressed.

I cut a a large scallop rectangle out of Apricot Appeal cardstock with Nestabilities, sponged it with Wild Honey Distress ink and added a dotted border with the Inkessential white pen. The image layer was attached to the scallop layer with dimensionals.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic Black cardstock folded in half. Next is a 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ piece of Kraft cardstock. The layer was stamped with Unity’s Giving it all Meaning background in Watermark Resist Ink. A 3″ x 3 15/16″ piece of Fly A Kite October Afternoon Paper was distressed and stitched to the Kraft layer. May Arts Ribbon was tied around the layer and three green buttons ($1 bin at Michaels) were attached with black Burlap String. The layer was attached to the card front with dimensionals.

sastamphodgepodgeinside.jpg

The card inside is pretty simple, but I really like how it looks. A 3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″ piece of Kraft cardstock. It was stamped with Giving it All Meaning in Watermark Resist ink. The image from Nature’s Moment was stamped on the right hand side with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. A 1 3/8″ x 3 15/16″ strip of Flying a Kite Paper was distressed and stitched to the Kraft layer. I tied a Basic Grey Button to the layer with tiny twine from MFT’s Bakery Blend Ribbon.

Thanks so much for looking! Hugs and smiles
