Today’s tutorial on SCS was created by Leigh O’Brien. Four or five years ago, when Leigh was on the Dirty Dozen team on SCS, she created a pattern for a darling tote bag she called Totally Totebag. We had a lot of requests for this tutorial and after such a long time being exclusive to only fan club members, today it is posted as a new tutorial in the resource section.

The base of the tote bag was created with Early Espresso cardstock, the patterned paper is Cosmo Crickets Mitten Weather paper. It was sponged with Vintage Photo Distress ink and stitched to the sides. I cut and embossed Cream Neenah cardstock with long scallop rectangle Nestabilities, cut the long edges off and down to 1/2″ and stitched them under the totebag flaps.

The handles were attached with Vintage Brads (Stampin’ Up!), the side straps with antique golden brads.  The sentiment and image are from JustRite Stampers A Merry Little Christmas . They were stamped with Rich Cooca Memento Inkon Neenah Natural White cardstock and colored with Copic Markers (bow and berries: R27, R29, R39, R89, Leaves: G21, G24, G28 Bells: Y21, Y26,Y29). The image was cut and embossed with Eyelet Circle Nestabilities and sponged with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I love the Vintage Christmas set from Crafty Secret. The santa is gorgeous and so are the coordinating stamps. So when I was looking for a set to use for creating a sample for the Retiform video tutorial, that set popped into my mind.

I cut a piece of Natural White cardstock with Tim Holtz Baroque Sizzix die and stamped the Santa in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink in it’s center. Next I created a reverse mask out of copier paper with a Classic Oval Nestabilities die and sponged an oval around the Santa first in Vintage Photo, then just the edges of the Oval in Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I removed the reverse mask and covered the sponged oval with the copy paper oval I had cut in order to create the reverse mask.  More copy paper was used to sponge several panels. One side of the sponged lines was created with Vintage Photo, the other with Fired Brick Distress Ink.

Once the panels were sponged, I covered all up but one and stamped an image in from Vintage Christmas. After all panels were filled, the layer was adhered to a bigger piece of Early Espresso cardstock . I cut around it to create the matching layer. I sewed over the sponged lines.

The sentiment is from Season’s Greetings. It was stamped in Walnut Stain Distress Ink on Natural White Neenah cardstock, cut and embossed with Petite Oval Nestabilities. I left the die over the cardstock, stamped the musical score over it with Vintage Photo and then sponged the panel with the same ink. Latte Kaisercraft Pearls were adhered underneath the sentiment and three Prima Mini Roses were adhered to the right of it.

A 1 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ strip of Webster’s Pages Holiday Paper was adhered to the left on to a 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of different pattern of the same paper pack. Melissa Frances lace was adhered to the left of the vertical paper strip before the layers were stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Early Espresso cardstock. Brown Wrinkled May Arts Ribbon was wrapped around the layers twice before it was tied into a bow. It was topped with a green button that was attached to the ribbon with Butterscotch waxed Linen. I twisted the ends of the waxed linen around my paper piercer to curl them up.

5″ x 12″ piece of red Core’dinations cardstock was folded in half and used as card base. More Latte Kaisercraft Pearls were added to the top right corner to finish off the card front.

It’s Saturday morning, that means….time to get out Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps and participate in the weekly challenge. This time it’s a color challenge: Purple, Green and Orange. I picked Charlotte. I like the way she smiles like she is up to something.

I stamped her in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It Blending card. I cut and embossed the image with Label 16 Nestabilities, colored it with Copic Markers (dress and hair band: YG03, YG25, YG17 underskirt and doll: V000, V01, V12, V15, V17, doll skin: E41, E43 doll eyes: E44, E47 doll dress: YR12, YR15, YR18 Charlotte’s skin: E51, E53, ground: N0, N1, N3) and airbrushed the background with BG11.

I adhered a  2 1/2″ x 4″ strip of Mathilda Cosmo Cricket paper to a small strip of Pixie-licious paper and taped both to a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of another patterned from the Pixie-licious paper pack. The paper was stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Early Espresso cardstock.

Brown Crinkled May Arts ribbon was tied around where the two horizontal layers met. It was topped with a green glitter Recollection brad. The card base is a 4 1/2″ x 11 3/4″ piece of light purple Core’dinations cardstock folded in half. The image layer was adhered with dimensionals to the card base.

The sentiment is from the stamp set Sassy Sentiments. It has hilarious sentiments in it. I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black on Solar White cardstock and cut and embossed it with Petite Oval Nestabilities. The oval was airbrushed with Copic Marker YR12. Three small Prima Flowers were adhered under the sentiment panel. I cut up a Recollection Rhinestone swirl and adhered it to the card base to finish up the card.

When I received The Cat’s Pajamas set Who’s This?, I thought it would be perfect to create a Masking sample for the video tutorial for that technique.  I stamped my mask images on Eclipse tape and cut them out slightly inside the stamped lines.

tcphootmaskedcloseup.jpg

I stamped the images in Tuxedo Memento Ink on a  3 1/2” square of X-Press It Blending Card. It was cut and embossed with a slightly smaller Classic Square Nestabilities die (okay…I meant to just emboss a frame into it, but goofed and put the embossing mat on the wrong side. Typical Beate move!). The image was colored with Copic Markers (Coat: N3, N5, N7 Coat cuff: E40, E41, E43 Scarf: N3, N5, YG05, YG17 Hair: Y11, Y21, E97, E99, Owl: E41, E43, E44, E47 Beak and Feet: Y21, E97 Jeans: B93, B95, B97 Boots, Mitten, Ear Muffs: R24, R27, R29 stippled bushes:  YG05, YG17, G28 Ground: E41, E43, E44). The sky was airbrushed with B91.  The image was layered on a black scalloped cardstock square cut with Classic Square Nestabilities.

tcphootmaskingbush.jpg

A 2 ½” x 3” piece of Wanted Cosmo Cricket Paper was adhered to a 4 ¾” square from the same paper pack. The edges were sanded before the square as stitched to a 3/16” bigger piece of Black cardstock.  That was adhered to the card base, a 5 ¼” x 10 ½” piece of Kraft cardstock folded in half.

I tied a bow with May Arts Red Gingham ribbon and topped it with a Cosmo Cricket buton. It was adhered to the right hand side of the image. Champagne Kaisercraft Pearls finish on the top right corner finish off the card front.

The card base is kept very simple. 1 ¼” x 4 ¾” piece of the striped Wanted paper from the front was adhered to a 4 ¾” piece of White cardstock. That was stitched to a 3/16” bigger cardstock piece which was adhered to the inside of the card.

I created this card as a sample for yesterday’s tutorial on SCS : Faux Barn Board. Sharon Field wrote the tutorial and at first told me she couldn’t shoot the video because she didn’t have the right equipment. I shot the video after asking her a few questions and when she replied she told me she could shoot the video with the help of a friend. Since mine was already done, I thought I can share it here. Make sure to check her video, too. She is way better at this technique then I am.

craftysecretspoppiesclosup.jpg

Since I thought Barn board sounded country, I worked my whole card around that idea. I stamped Poppies from Crafty Secrets new Poppy set in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It Blending card and colored them with Copic Markers (Poppies: R32, R35, R39, N5, N7 and a touch of E97 Leaves and stem: YG11, YG63, YG67 Glow: 1/5th YR31, 4/5 blending solution). The image was cut down to a 3 3/8″ x 4 1/4″, the edges were distressed and it was adhered to a 1/4″ bigger piece of Early Espresso Cardstock (SU), that had it’s edges distressed as well. The top right edge of each of the two layers was rolled, then the rest of the edge of the layer was paper pierced.

craftysecretspoppiesfauxbar.jpg

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Early Espresso cardstock folded in half. A 5 1/4″ Whisper White square had it’s edges colored with YR31 and distressed. Next I sanded the edges of a 5″ square of Cosmo Cricket Mitten Weather paper and sponged the edges with Antique Linen distress ink.  The paper layer was stitched to the white cardstock before both were adhered to the card base.

The Faux Barn Board sample measures 3 3/8″ in length. The edges were distressed and it was stitched to a 1/4″ bigger piece of Early Espresso, which edges were distressed as well. Two Antique Brads (Stampin’ Up!) were added to the upper edge. A bow tied out of May Arts Gingham ribbon was topped with a bigger antique brad and adhered to the lower edge to finish off the card.

Here is my video for this technique:

Welcome to JustRite Stampers’ newest Wednesday feature, 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hops #3!  Every Wednesday up until Thanksgiving some of your favorite designers will be joining some of the JustRite design team for a series of Christmas blog hops, showcasing JustRite’s entire Christmas Collection of stamps!  So mark your calendars for Wednesdays at 9am Central for great Christmas gift, card & project ideas, starting at the JustRite Inspiration blog

For my card I picked a set that is not in the Christmas collection, but has a beautiful Christmas Sentiment: Nature’s Nested Sentiments. The sentiment I picked has a big beautiful font and was perfect to place into a beaded oval. I started by cutting and embossing an oval out of Cream Neenah Cardstock with Classic Oval Nestabilities. The oval was sponged first with Antique Linen, then the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink. The sentiment was stamped in the center with Walnut Stain Distress Ink and a border was paper pierced.

A beaded oval was cut and embossed from Cream cardstock and sponged with Vintage Photo ink. The oval with the sentiment was adhered with dimensionals to the beaded oval.

justritenaturessentimentpurplechristmas.jpg

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Neenah Cream cardstock folded in half. The edges were sponged with Antique Linen.

A 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Kraft cardstock was sponged with Vintage photo. A 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Cosmo Cricket Jack Frost paper was sanded, sponged with Antique  Linen ink and then stitched to the sponged Kraft cardstock piece. Then the layers were adhered to the card base.

A Cream strip of cardstock was cut and embossed with Eyelet Borderabilities. It was cut in half length wise and adhered to the top and bottom of a  2″ x 5″ strip of Cosmo Cricket Flurry paper. The edges of the strip was sanded then sponged with Antique Linen. May Arts Crochet Lace was added to the lower half of the strip. The strip was adhered to card base. The oval layers were attached to the card base with dimensionals.

I cut tissue paper with the two smallest Eyelet Circle Nestabilities and held them together with one of Stampin’ Up!’s Vintage brads. The tissue paper layers were sponged with Dusty Concord Distress ink. Then I created a colored pearlized spray by mixing water, Pearl Perfect Pearls and a drop of Vintage Photo Distress Re-inker in a Mini Mister. I then sprayed the flower and dried it with a heat tool to add shimmer and a darken the rest of the white tissue showing.  Champagne Kaisercraft pearls finish off the card front.

justritenaturessentimentpurplechristmasinside.jpg

For the inside of the card, I sponged another 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Kraft cardstock with Vintage Photo. A 1″ strip of Jack frost and a 3/8″ strip of Flurry paper were stitched to a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Cream cardstock.

I stamped the pine cone from Holiday Cheer Borders & Centers in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on Cream cardstock. It cut and embossed it with Classic Circle Nestabilities. The image was colored with Copic Markers (E31, E33, E35, E37, V12, V15, BG11, G21, G24) and sponged with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress ink. It was then layered on a Kraft cardstock piece with cut and embossed with Eyelet Circle Nestabilities and sponged with Vintage photo.

When I looked through Garnet Hill’s website for last Saturday’s Inspiration Challenge and saw a ruffled pink scarf, I knew right away I wanted to use that as my inspiration piece. I recently got the new Rose set from Crafty Secrets and was eager to try it out. It’s such a beautiful image.

craftysecretsrosecloseupic2.jpg

I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press it Blending card and colored it with Copic Markers (Rose: R81, R83, R85, R89, Leaves: BG93, BG96, BG99, E55). I cut the cardstock down to 3 ¾” x 4 5/8” and embossed a rectangle in it with Classic Rectangle Nestabilities. The edges of the cardstock were sponged first with Antique Linen, then with Vintage Photo Distress ink before the layer was stitched to a ¼” bigger piece of black cardstock. Three buttons from my Mom’s button collection were sewn on to the bottom left corner with Butterscotch waxed Linen.

A 4 5/8” wide white cardstock piece was cut and embossed with Lattice Nestabilities, then sponged with Antique Linen Distress Ink. It was adhered to a 2 5/8” x 4 5/8” Thrift Store October Afternoon paper.  The edges of a 4 5/8” x 5 5/8” piece of Thrift Store paper were sponged with Vintage Photo Distress ink. The 2 5/8” wide strip was adhered to the lower half and the edge was stitched.

craftysecretsroseic250bj.jpg

Ivory May Arts Ribbon was sprayed with a mix out of Vintage Photo Distress Re-inker and water, dried and then tied around the paper layers. It was topped with a dark green button. A tag was cut and embossed with Spellbinders Tag die, the center was sponged lightly with Vintage Photo distress ink.  The layers were adhered to the card base, a 5″ x 12″ piece of Vanilla cardstock folded in half.

The sentiment is also from the Rose set and was stamped on the tag with Tuxedo Black Memento ink. It was tied to the bow with the Waxed Linen piece that had been used to tie the button to the bow. Champagne Kaisercraft Pearls on the top right finish off the card.

I created this card for the Free For All Challenge on Splitcoast last week. We were to use a stamp set with a pun sentiment. I knew right away that I wanted to use The Cat’s Pajamas stamps for that. TCP has the funniest sentiments.

I picket the stamp set Mwah! and stamped the Dracula in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It Blending card. That cardstock is really growing on me. It blends well and the ink doesn’t feather. That’s pretty SWEET! I just bought a whole ream at Ellen Hutson’s store. I was excited to see that she got it in.

The image was cut with Label 1 Nestabilities and colored with Copic Markers (Cape and hair: N5, N7, N9 Collar: R24, R39 Skin: W1, W3, Shirt: N0, N1, N3 Grass BG93, BG96. The background was airbrushed with BG72. Before the layer was attached to a piece of black cardstock, cut and embossed with the largest Lacey Square Nestabilities die.

tcpdraculardefrightfulf4a30.jpg

The card base is a 5 ¼” x 10 ½” piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock folded in half. A 2” x 4 ¾” strip of Mitten Weather Cosmo Cricket paper was adhered over a white cardstock strip cut with Inside Pinking die from The Cat’s Pajamas.  The edges of a 4 ¾” piece of Mitten Weather Cosmo paper were sanded and the paper strip was adhered over the lower half of the square. It was then stitched to a 3/16” bigger piece of black cardstock. ¼” wide May Arts Silk Ribbon was colored with R39 marker, then tied around the layers and topped with a Recollections Brad (Michaels). Red Kaisercraft Rhinestones on two of the image edges finish off the card.

P.S.: I am sorry I was not visiting and commenting on blogs. My internet is out and Time Warner won’t come out to check it out until Wednesday. Not happy with my Internet provider here. The internet goes out EVERY month, but usually at least they can come out earlier. Working at Chick-Fil-A for now.

I love the Cornucopia Miles from Krafty Kimmie Stamps new release. I used the stamp for Wednesday’s sketch challenge. I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press it Blending card and colored with Copic Markers (Miles: T0, T1, T3, T5, R00, R02, Grass: YG25, YG17 Cornucopia: E31, E33, E35, E37 Banana: Y15, Y17, Y19, E33 Apples: R24, R27, R39 YR31). I added Blender Solution on a piece of an old wash cloth and added texture with that to my grass.

kkscornucopiamilesbadbig.jpg

It was cut and embossed with Petite Oval Nestabilities. The sky was air brushed with Copic Marker B41. I cut Early Espresso cardstock with Label 10 Nestabilities and adhered the image oval on it. Next I paper pierced a border in the sky section. All the paper pieces used for the card are from the Cosmo Cricket Pack Togetherness.  I stitched all pieces on top of a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Early Espresso cardstock.

kkscornucopiamilesbadsc298.jpg

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Sour Apple Cardstock  folded in half. After adhering the layers to the card base, I cut a Recollection rhinestone swirl apart and used it in two corners. In the upper right hand side I added a Bo Bunny flower with a Pink Paislee Rhinestone brad center.

The sentiment is from Kimmie’s Sassy Sentiments. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black on Neenah Solar cardstock, cut with Petite Oval Nestabilities and airbrushed with YG25. I paper pierced a row underneath the sentiment and added light blue Kaisercraft Rhinestones on the corners of the oval.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

kksmitzywide.jpg

Today’s Kraftin’ Kimmie challenge is to create a Black and White card. I thought Mitzi, the Mummy would be perfect for that challenge. I stamped her in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press it Blending card and colored her with Copic Markers (skin: W00, W01, W03, bandages: T0, T1, T3, Hair: T5, T7, T9 Ground: W2, W4). The image was cut and embossed with the Scalloped Frame die. I cut a black piece of cardstock with the same die and used that for the outside frame. The image was airbrushed with Copic Marker W2.

The card also works for the current Copic Creations challenge. All you  have to do is create a project shaded in or around your image with Copic Markers. Kraftin’ Kimmie is the sponsor for this challenge and you might win two Kimmie stamps of your choice by participating.

kksmitziold.jpg

A 4 1/2″ long strip of white cardstock was cut and embossed with Lotus Borderabilities. It was adhered under a 3″ x 4 1/2″ piece of Basic Grey Periphery paper, which was stitched to a 4 1/2″ x 5 3/4″ piece of Periphery paper. 1/2″ wide seam stitching was wrapped twice around the horizontal strip and tied into a wrinkly double bow. The bow was topped with a button from my stash.

I cut a tag with another Spellbinder die, airbrushed it with Copic Marker W2. The sentiment is from Sassy Sentiments in Tuxedo Black. The tag was tied to the bow with the same Linen thread to tie the button over the bow.

kksmitziinside.jpg

The inside of the card is super simple. Just a piece of white cardstock, layered with more patterned paper and stitched at the edges.

Have a great weekend! Hugs and smiles
