Sorry I have been so quiet. Besides prepping for my next class at Simply Scrapbooks in December, my internet is giving me trouble again. It just came back on after being off for 1 1/2 days. Before that it only worked for a little at a time. I hope I get this post up before it breaks again.

Today’s tutorial on Splitcoast is for a flower created out of ribbon or lace. For my sample I stamped a Label from Gina K. Lovely Labels 2 stamp set in Vintage Photo Distress Ink on Natural White Neenah cardstock. I cut and embossed the label with the matching Label 16 Nestabilities die and the center with Classic Circle Nestabilities. With both dies still on the cardstock I sponged the paper first with Antique Linen Distress Ink, then the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

In the circle I stamped the sentiment from Winter Wings in Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 9 7/8″ piece of Kraft cardstock folded in half. The edges of the card front and inside were sponged with Vintage Photo Distress ink.  Two 3 3/4″ wide strips of Webster’s Pages patterned paper were sewn to a 4″ x 4 5/8″ piece of Natural White cardstock before the layers were adhered to the card base. Three dew drops from the Mint Chocolate Chip bottle were adhered to the top right side of the patterned paper layer.

The label was adhered in the center of the card with dimensionals, the circle in it’s center with a double layer of dimensionals. Three Bliss Kaisercraft Pearls were adhered to the bottom of the sentiment circle.

The flower was created out of now retired Webster’s Pages Trim. It was topped with a silk ribbon bow that was topped with a Basic Grey button.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! Hugs and smiles

Sorry I am so quiet lately. It seems I am only on the road lately driving kids to and from school and after school activity. But I have something to share with you today. Not only another video perfect for the colder season, but some personal news as well.  We heard that we are probably moving to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma. That’s in Oklahoma City. While it is not Florida or Texas as we were hoping, it is closer to the South then we are now. And it is in the States. There were a lot of overseas jobs open. With the boys both finishing High School next place we go, I am excited that we will stay in the States for that.

Yesterday I created a video tutorial for the Dryer Sheet Technique. I love this technique for winter cards. It adds such a soft look to your image. For my sample I used Gina K.’s Winter Wings stamp set. I stamped one of the birds in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored it with Copic Markers (Bird: E42, E43, E44, YR23, YR24, N7, N9, Branch: E44, E47, E49, snow: B000). I tried to color the bird like a Chickadee. The image was cut and embossed with Classic Circle Nestabilities and airbrushed with Copic Marker B000.

I then ran the image face down through my Xyron, added a used dryer sheet over it and cut it again with the same Circle Nestabilities die I had used earlier. Next I rubbed Cosmo Crystal Crafty Sparkles all over the image and tapped off the access.

A piece of 7Gypsies Nottinghill patterned paper was cut and embossed with Label 1 Nestabilities, sanded and then adhered to a black card stock piece cut and embossed with the next size Label 1 Nestabilities die. The image was adhered to both layers with dimensionals.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Pure Luxury Kraft card stock folded in half. It was embossed with Kassie’s Brocade Cuttlebug embossing folder. The raised image was highlighted with Adirondack Snow cap pigment ink.

A 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of 7Gypsies Nottinghill paper was adhered in the center of the card base and ribbon from Gina K.’s latest TV kit was tied around the paper strip. The ribbon was tied into a bow and topped with a black Basic Grey button tied on with black waxed Linen.

The sentiment is also from Winter Wings. It was stamped in Tuxedo black Memento Ink on a 3/4″ x 1 7/8″ piece of Neenah Solar White card stock. A background border from Vintage Borders was stamped in second generation (stamped off once) Stormy Sky Distress Ink, two of the corners were rounded and the edges were sponged with Stormy Sky. The sentiment was attached to the card with one of Tim Holtz Memo Pins. To finish the card off three Snow Kaisercraft Pearls were added to the upper right hand side.

Welcome to the 11th week of JustRite Stampers’  Wednesday feature, 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hops!  Every Wednesday up until Thanksgiving some of your favorite designers will be joining some of the JustRite design team for a series of Christmas blog hops, showcasing JustRite’s entire Christmas Collection of stamps!  Don’t forget that JustRite has some Christmas stamps in their newly released CLING line of stamp sets, too — you can find them HERE.  This week, the designers joining the JustRite design team are the Stampers Dream design team and a few other special guests!

For the month of November, we thought we would switch gears a little and throw in some holiday gift ideas using your JustRite stamps, so be watching for those, too, on November’s hops!  And in celebration of JustRite’s Christmas Blog Hops, they have a huge surprise for you — take 25% off All JustRite Original Christmas Stamps now through November 29 — Don’t forget to tell Santa!

For my sample today I used the new Sparky the Snowman Cling stamp set. I love how the new cling stamps stamp. I stamped the snowman in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It! Blending card and colored it with Copic Markers (hat/broom stick: E57, E59, E49, broom top: Y23, Y26, Y28, E33, Cardinal: R08, R27, R29, R39, YR24, C7, Scarf, Mitten: Rv10, RV13, RV14, Jacket: BG11, BG13, BG15, BG18, Snow: B0000, B000, B00, Trees: YG63, YG67, G28). I colored over the snow with a clear Spica pen and cut out the snowman.

I used the largest of the three JustRite Stampers Acrylic blocks and inked it up with Spun Sugar, then the edges with Worn Lipstick Distress ink. Next I sprayed the block with water from my Mini Mister and then stamped it on a 3 3/4″ x 4 5/8″ piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock. Snowflakes from the Sparky set were stamped over the background with Spun Sugar ink.  The layer was stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Neenah Canyon Brown cardstock.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Core’dination cardstock folded in half. The sentiment is also from the Sparky set. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on the left hand side of the background. Sparky was adhered over the background in dimensionals. To finish the card I added two small snowflake cut and embossed with the Snowflake Borderabilities. They were topped with Dew Drops.

This background technique has been popping up all over the internet. Lydia told me about it first after she had made a card with it during a SCS shoe box swap from Lisa Spangler. I thought it would be fun to have a tutorial for it on Splitcoast. You can check it out here.

Today I am getting to hop with the Paper Pretties team. Paper Pretties has a new owner. They are now located in Wisconsin and have fast shipping. If you are Blog hopping with us are coming from Jennifer Greco’s blog.

For my sample I used Surprise Sophia. I stamped her in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It! Blending Card and colored her with Copic Markers (Dress: B21, B24, B26, Hair: YR31, E35, E39, Skin: E0000, E00, E31, R20, Stockings: E40, E41, E43, Shoes and Bow: R24, R29, R39, W5). The stockings were textured with a paper napkin that I had laying around in Richmond at the Copic Certification and my Copic Marker 0. I cut and embossed the image with Petite Oval Nestabilities. It was layered on black cardstock and cut with a bigger Petite Oval Nestabilities.

Bo Bunny Patterned paper was cut and embossed with Label 17 Nestabilities. The edges were sanded, adhered to black cardstock and cut out for a thin black layer.

A 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ paper strip was adhered to a 4 1/4″ x 5″ piece of patterned paper. Both papers are from Bo Bunny’s ‘Tis the Season paper collection. They were stitched a 3/16″ bigger piece of Black cardstock before the layers were attached to a 4 3/4″ x 5 1/2″ Cherry Cobbler cardstock base.

Royal Blue Satin Ribbon was tied into a bow with the help of Bow-Easy and topped with a black Recollection Rhinestone brad. It was adhered to the uppler left hand side of the image with Scor-Tape. Black Kaisercraft Rhinestones were adhered to the upper right hand corner of the image to tie in the rhinestone brad.

The sentiment is also from Surprise Sophia. It was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and was cut and embossed with Petite Oval Nestabilities. The center of the sentiment was colored with Copic Marker YG01 and Silver Rhinestone Brads were attached underneath.

Next on the blog hop is Pam Varnell’s blog. Have fun hopping! Thanks so much for stopping by! Hugs and smiles

I had a great time in Richmond helping Colleen with her Copic Certification class. During the morning I had time to color. I had brought this darling new Elf Bell Mouse stamp created by Meljen for Whimsy Stamps. That stamp is so much fun to color. How can you not love that face? LOL

I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It blending card and colored it with Copic Markers (Bell: Y32, Y35, Y38, E97, E99, Ears/Tail: E01, E02, E04, Body: N1, N3, N5, N7, Shoes/hat: YG00, YG03, YG25, YG17, G28, Hat/Bow: R24, R27, R29, R39), cut and embossed it with Classic Circle Nestabilities and airbrushed the center with Copic Marker BG01. The image was layered on black cardstock cut and embossed with the largest Classic Scallop Circle Nestabilities die. To finish the main image off I added Cosmo Crystal Crafty Sparkles to the hat and Chunky Crystal Crafty Sparkles as snow underneath the mouse.

The mouse image is a pretty big, so after layering it on the biggest Classic Circle Nestabilities, I knew it was time to unpack my Grand Circle and  Grand Scallop Circle Nestabilities. I am so excited to own the new Grand Calibur and some of the new big dies.  I cut a circle of  Good Cheer Tinsel October Afternoon paper with the third smallest of the Circle Grand Nestabilities die and then cut a 3″ wide strip of Very Merry – Write the Cards OA paper with the same die. The layers were adhered and stitched to black cardstock cut with the next size up Circle Grand Nestabilities. White May Arts Silk Ribbon was tied into a bow around the center and topped with a Basic Grey Button and tiny bells I still have from my quilting days (used them on quilted Christmas stockings).

The card base was created out of two 7 1/4″ squares of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock. It was cut with the second largest Scallop Circle Grand Nestabilities die. The other layers were adhered to the base with Scor-Tape.

I kept the inside of the card pretty simple. Another black circle topped with Neenah White cardstock and a strip of Good Cheer Tinsel October Afternoon paper. Since the circles were too big to cut an attached card base (by folding cardstock in half and cutting the card that way), I thought it would be cute to have the card attached with a big brad so the card front swings open to reveal the inside. I just wish I had a fancier brad for that then plain old white.

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

Like I said, I really like the new Peace on Earth set from Whimsy Stamps. For my card, I stamped the candle image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Natural White Neenah cardstock. The image was cut and embossed with Classic Oval Nestabilities and colored with Copic Markers (Candle: YR21, YR23, YR24, E97,  Wax: YR20, YR21 Flame: YR12, YR14, YR18, Leaves: G21, G24, G28, Ground: E40, E41, E43). I punched a 1” circle out of a Post-It Note, placed the mask over my candle and airbrushed that area with Copic Marker YR20. Next the Nestabilities die was placed over the cardstock and the background was airbrushed with Copic Marker B93.

Natural White Neenah cardstock was cut and embossed with the largest of the Beaded Oval Nestabilities die and sponged first with Fired Brick, then lightly with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. The main image was adhered over the Beaded Oval Nestabilities with dimensionals.

The card base is a 5 ½” x 8 ½” piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock folded in half. The card front was sponged with Aged Mahogany ink.  A 1” x 3 ¾” was adhered vertically over a 3 ¾” x 5” piece of Webster’s Pages Patterned Paper. Both paper pieces were stitched to a 4” x 5 ¼” piece of Neenah Natural White cardstock.

A Mini Mister was filled with a bit of Vintage Photo Distress Ink Refill and water. I spritzed a piece of Natural color Seam Binding until it was completely wet and then added a few drops of Vintage Photo Distress Ink refill directly on the binding. The binding was dried and tied around the paper layers.

A heart was cut and embossed out of Cherry Cobbler cardstock with Nestabilities new Nested Hearts. The heart was sponged with Fired Brick Distress ink. Next the die was placed back over it and the embossed parts were sponged with Walnut Stain distress ink. The entire heart was embossed several times with clear embossing powder.

The sentiment is also from the Peace of Earth set. It was stamped on Neenah Natural White cardstock, cut and embossed with Classic Circle Nestabilities and airbrushed with Copic Marker B93. I pierced a small hole on top of the circle as well as the heart and tied it around the ribbon with gold cord. I used the same gold cord piece to tie a button from my Mom’s collection to the ribbon. Latte Kaisercraft Pearls were adhered to the lower left corner to finish off the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

Welcome to the 10th week of JustRite Stampers’  Wednesday feature, 12 Weeks of Christmas Blog Hops!  Every Wednesday up until Thanksgiving we have been showcasing JustRite’s entire Christmas Collection of stamps!  Don’t forget that JustRite has some Christmas stamps in their newly released CLING line of stamp sets, too — you can find them HERE.

For the month of November we thought we would also throw in some holiday gift ideas for any of your JustRite stamps so be watching for those, too, on November’s hops!  And in celebration of JustRite’s 10th week of Christmas Blog Hops, they have a huge surprise for you – through November 29 take 25% off all JustRite Original Christmas stamp sets, with free shipping within the U.S. on orders over $50 — Don’t forget to tell Santa!

For today’s blog hop I created a circular tag with JustRiteStampers Vintage Christmas set. I stamped the darling snowman in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It Blending Card and colored it with Copic Markers (snowman:  B0000, B000 Hat, nose and buttons: N3, N5, N7, N9, Cheeks: E000, E00, Scarf: BG93, BG96, BG99). The image was cut and embossed with Classic Circle Nestabilities, airbrushed with Copic Marker E40 and layered on a piece of Early Espresso Cardstock cut and embossed with Eyelet Circle Nestabilities. Glossy Accents was added over the snow on the snowman’s hat and snowflake. Fine Glitter was sprinkled over it.

The sentiment is from JustRite Stampers Christmas Nested Sentiments. It was stamped on a strip of X-Press It blending card. The cardstock was bend in shape of a waving banner and attached to the main image by adhering it to a Tim Holtz Philosophy Tag with Glossy Accents.

The box base is a 8 ¼” square of Early Espresso cardstock. It was scored at 2 ¾” and 5 ½” on each side. The corner square were scored diagonally and folded in. The folded corners were layered with white cardstock triangles that were cut by cutting  a 2 3/8” square in half. That square had been topped with a triangle cut out of a 2 1/8” square of Echo Park Wintertime. The layers were stitched together before they were adhered to the box with Scor-Tape. For the full squares,  2 ¼” pieces of Echo Park Winterland patterned paper were stitched to a 2 ½” square of white cardstock.

Organdy Ribbon was threaded through silver eyelets, was tied into a bow and topped with a navy button.

Okay…I am having a blast with these 2” x 2” Memory Glass Ornaments. They are so much fun to make. For this sample, I used the soon to be released Peace on Earth Whimsy stamp set created by Crissy Armstrong. I love this set. The images are simply beautiful! The release day for new Whimsy Stamps is this Wednesday.

I stamped the Angel image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It! Blending card, cut it down to a 1 7/8” square and colored the image with Copic Markers (hair: YR21, YR23, YR24, Skin: E51, E53, E55, Dress: R27, R29, R39, Wings: B000, B01, Outline dots: YG00, G20, G21).  The image was backed with a 1 7/8” square of patterned paper with a Tim Holtz Jump Ring sandwiched between the paper. The image and backing were sandwiched between two pieces of 2” x 2” Memory Glass. ¼” wide Scor-Tape was added around the glass and Vintage Shard Glass Glitter adhered to the tape. I love the look this creates.

Seam binding was tied around the jump ring as hanger and gold organdy ribbon was tied into a bow around the binding. A button was added on top with the help of Waxed Linen.

My internet is out again since Saturday afternoon. It is getting really old having it break every month with no apparent reason. It’s Sunday afternoon and I am sitting in the Richmond Airport waiting for Colleen to arrive from Atlanta.I can’t wait to hang out with her the next two days.

These little ornaments are too much fun! All you need is some Microscopic Slides or like in my case, Memory Glass from Ranger. For the video I created several different samples.

Easy Santa

For this ornament I cut down a piece of Christmas Creative Scrap from Crafty Secrets. It was cut down to 1 7/8” square and backed with a 1 7/8” piece of patterned paper. The paper pieces were sandwiched between a  2” x 2” piece of Frosted Memory Glass and a 2” x 2” regular Memory Glass. All the layers were placed into a 2” x 2” Memory Frame. Red silk Ribbon was used as a hanger and to tie a bow around the hanger. The bow was topped with a Vintage Brad from Stampin’ Up!.

Sweet Girl

I cut another piece of Christmas Creative Scraps down to 1 7/8” square  and backed with another Creative Scrap square in the same size. A Tim Holtz Memo Pin was stuck between the layers before they were layered with Memory Glass. This time I wrapped ¼” wide Scor-Tape around the layers, took off the liner and pressed the tape in Vintage Shard Glass Glitter.  A bow was tied around the pin with beige silk ribbon. A mulberry flower and leaf from Recollections as well as a Tim Holtz Philosophy tag were added to the bow. Silver Cord was used to create the hanger.

Vintage Santa

For this sample I stamped my favorite Santa from Crafty Secrets Vintage Christmas in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on X-Press It! Blending Card and colored it with Copic Markers (Background: E30, E31 Skin: R0000, R01, R20 band: E57, E59, Holly: G24, G28 R39, R59, coat: R27, R29, R39, beard/hair: W00, W1, W3). The cardstock was cut with 1 7/8” square and backed with patterned paper, sandwiched between Memory Glass and placed in another Memory Frame. May Arts Brown Crinkled Ribbon was tied in a bow on the Memory Frame and topped with a Recollections Brad. This time I used embroidery floss for a hanger.  To dress up the frame, I added May Arts Crochet Lace on the left hand side, topped it with a button that tied to the lace with waxed Linen. Three Latte Kaisercraft Pearls on the upper left hand side finish off the ornament.

I cut Brushed Silver, Shimmery Ivory cardstock as well as Cosmo Cricket’s Mitten Weather patterned paper with  Eyelet Circle Nestabilities, the Snowflake Pendant and Create-a-Flake 2 Spellbinders dies. The die-cuts were layered, sewn together and covered with Silver Kaisercraft Rhinestones to create a Snowflake Garland. You can find the photo tutorial for this project here.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend! Mine will be  good. My oldest is turning 16 years old. That’s crazy. I remember when he was just a cute chubby toddler, not this thin, tall young man! Time flies. And I will be flying too. Sunday I am flying to Richmond, VA. Monday I will be assisting Colleen Schaan during a Copic Certification. I can’t wait.

Hugs and smiles
