Today’s tutorial was written by the fabulous Birgit Edblom, aka. Biggan. Her tutorial is on how to create a wonderful paper frame for your main image.

For my sample I used another image that I had colored (and had final touches added by the fabulous Marianne Walker) during my trip to Chicago. The image is from Flourishes new set called Christmas Classic. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It! Blending Card and colored with Copic Markers ( Bird: R08, R27, R29, R39, R59 Beek and feet: YR15, YR18, R08 Branch: E55, E57, E59 Background: B0000 and Spica Clear Glitter Pen).

The image was cut down to a 2 5/8″ square and stitched to a slightly bigger piece of textured Chocolate Chip cardstock. That again was adhered to a 2 15/16″ square of Cherry Cobbler cardstock that had a border stitched to it. Fine brown Burlap String was threaded through the frame before the layers were adhered inside.

A 1 5/8″ x 4 5/8″ piece of Webster’s Pages paper was adhered to a 4 5/8″ square of a different style Webster’s Pages paper. White lace purchased at JoAnn’s was adhered to the edge of the horizontal strip and the layers were stitched to 1/4″ bigger piece of white cardstock. the card base is a 4 7/8″ x 9 3/4″ piece of Chocolate Chip card stock folded in half.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White card stock. It was cut and embossed with Petite Oval Nestabilities. The inner part of the oval was colored with Copic Marker B0000. Three snowflakes cut and embossed with the Snowflake Borderabilities dies were added to the card and topped with Kaisercraft Bliss Pearls.

Yesterday we published a tutorial by Linda Duke, showing you how to create this darling felt mitten with the help of the Nested Mitten dies from Spellbinders. I created mine with Christmas Creative Scraps from Crafty Secrets, May Arts Ribbon and Tim Holtz Charm Fragments. A Prima Flower tops off my mitten. This was fun and easy to make. Rebecca and her friend started making their own.

Today there are four new tutorials on Splitcoast! Three are for the new Holiday Dies from Spellbinders review. Let me just say that I love them. This years shapes are wonderful! A huge snowflake pendant, mittens, ornaments, trees, hearts, swords and so much more. I will be surprised if I don’t own most of them before they are discontinued.

Today I want to show you a created with the help of Julie Overby’s Heirloom Photo Ornament tutorial. I think it makes a GREAT present to grand parents. I used World Win Gold Card Stock and Bo Bunny Christmas paper (I purchased at my LSS).

The gold cardstock was first cut and embossed with the largest of Spellbinders Heirloom Ornament dies. Next the ornament was embossed with Fair Isle Borderabilities. The Bo Bunny patterned paper was cut with the second biggest die along with the Label 13 Nestabilities. Once it was cut, the paper was sponged with Vintage Photo, then the edges were sponged with Walnut Stain Distress ink.

The patterned paper piece  was adhered over the gold card stock and the window was cut through the gold paper with the same Label 13 Nestabilities die. Lace (Stampin’ Up!) was adhered to the edge of the window and photos of my kids were adhered behind it.

The steps were repeated two times for three sides. The sides were adhered together with Scor-Tape as well as Zip-Glue. Tinsel (from LSS) was adhered in the center. A bow was created with lace and silk ribbon and topped with a Basic Grey  button.

Today’s Tutorial was created by Jenny Gropp. She shows us how to create sturdy magnets as a gift idea. I placed my sample on a pizza box created to match.

The pizza box was created out of Chocolate chip card stock and layered with a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock, cut and embossed with the largest Label 1 Nestabilities die. A piece of Neenah Solar White card stock was cut with a size smaller die, layered with snowflake die cuts from Create-a-Flake 2 and the Snowflake Borderabilities Petite and airbrushed with Copic Marker R89. With the die still over the card stock, I sponged it with first with Antique Linen all over, then on the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink.  The sentiment is from Unity’s Embellished Season and was stamped in the center with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

I airbrushed Copic Marker R89 over a  piece of Neenah Solar White card stock, stamped the ornament (also from Embellished Season) over it with Embossing inkand embossed it with Gold embossing powder. The card stock was adhered to a piece of cardboard that had been backed with Black card stock and cut out. The edges were colored with my black Copic Marker and a strong magnet was adhered to the back. Glossy Accents was added over the entire ornament.

Once the ornament was completely dry, a double bow out of red silk and gold cord was adhered to the top of the ornament. It was secured to the box with a magnet strip. Three small snowflakes were cut and embossed with the Snowflake Borderabilities Petite die out of Neenah Solar White card stock. They were topped with Red Kaisercraft Rhinestones.

For my sample I used Sweets of the Season. The image was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on X-Press It Blending Card. It was colored with Copic Markers (Candy Cane: R20, R24, R29, C01, C00, Berries: R27, R29, R39, Leaves:  G24, G28, Bow: Y35, Y38, E97 and darker colors (used by Marianne to add more shading)and cut and embossed with Classic Circle Nestabilities. It was then layered first on a black card stock circle, then a piece of brushed gold card stock, cut and embossed with Eyelet Circle Nestabilities.

A tag was cut out of Neenah Solar White card stock with a Spellbinders Tag die and airbrushed with Copic Marker B01. Green Kaisercraft Pearls were added to the top of the tag.

I used Bo Bunny paper to create a Slit Latch Gift Card Holder. It’s today’s Holiday Blitz tutorial on Splitcoaststampers. It was created by Jane Matsumoto. I tied the bow with Cream Silk Ribbon and the help of my Bow-Easy. It was topped with one of the new Stampin’ Up! Buttons. Latte Kaisercraft Pearls on the upper edge of the slit gift card holder finish off my gift card holder.

I changed the inside from the tutorial by adding a 1 1/8″ x 5″ strip to the bottom of the inside of the card holder instead of punching slits for the gift card. Just adhere the strip by adding adhesive to the left and bottom edge of the strip before you cut your slit. Once the slit is cut, add adhesive to the diagonal edge of the right side. The strip will hold your gift card and help make your holder a bit sturdier.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you have time to try out this fast and easy gift card holder and participate in the challenge. Using ribbon is definitely not a challenge for me. I LOVE ribbon.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles
