Glenda Wyatt has a big challenge anniversary today and asked a few stamping friends to participate. You can find a list of all participants on her blog. The challenge today is easy. All you have to do is create a project with RED in it and post a link to the entry on Glenda’s blog. Easy, Peasy. I hope you can play along. She is offering a chance to win some blog candy.

For my project I created a Explosion Box. A 7 1/2″ square of Red Riding Hood Square was stamped with the Border stamp of Verve’s Artful Elegance Stamp set in Aged Mahogany Distress ink. The cardstock was scored at 2 1/2″ and 5″ on both sides. Each outer square was scored diagonal. The edges the cardstock as well as the scored lines were sponged with Aged Mahogany ink.

The sides were decorated with a medallion stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut with Circle Nestabilities and sponged with Tattered Rose Distress Ink.

For the lid Kraft cardstock was cut and embossed with the largest of the Lacey Square Nestabilities die. Next the edges of the square were scored at 3/4. The lid was first layered with a sponged piece of Red Riding Hood cut with a smaller Lacey Square Nestabilities die, then a piece of Pretty of Pink cardstock, then a white piece of cardstock cut and embossed with the smallest Lacey Square die, stamped with different stamps from Artful Elegance in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink and sponged with Victorian Velvet ink.

For the center of the inside of the box I sponged a white square of cardstock with Tattered Rose ink and stamped a sentiment from Hearts on Fire in Tuxedo black Memento Ink. It was adhered to a piece of Kraft cardstock cut and embossed with the second smallest Lacey Square Nestabilities die.

On a personal note I am excited to announce that I will be on the new Inspiration Emporium Design team. I order most of my supplies from there and Ellen Hutson‘s store, so it was exciting when they asked me. This will be fun.

Have a wonderful day! Hugs and smiles

Today’s tutorial on Splitcoaststampers is for a basic technique: Paper Piercing. I know it’s not a fancy technique tutorial, but we didn’t have a tutorial for that technique yet. I love to use paper piercing to add an extra border to my images when it just needs a little something something.

For my sample I an image from  Gina K. Designs Winter Wonderland stamp set. The image was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored with Copic Markers (C00, C1, BV20, BV21, R01, R02, R08, R29, G21, G24, G28). It was cut with Classic Circle Nestabilities, overstamped with the background script from the same set in Antique Linen Distress Ink and sponged with the same color.

The image was layered on piece of Basic Grey cardstock, cut and embossed with Lacey Circle Nestabilities. The edge of the circle was paper pierced.

For my card layout I used CPS Sketch 199. The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Basic Grey cardstock folded in half. The edges of the card front were sponged with Pumice Stone Distress Ink. All four corners were rounded with the W R Memory Keepers Cropadile Corner Chomper and the edges were paper pierced.

The edges of a 4 3/4″ square of Cosmo Cricket 1934 Paper (I LOVE that paper pack and need to order more) were rounded and the square was stitched to a 1/4″ bigger piece of White cardstock. Both layers were adhered to the card base.

Melissa Frances lace from the beige ribbon pack was adhered under a white cardstock strip and adhered to the right center of the layeres. The image circle was adhered over the strip with dimensionals.

The sentiment is also from Winter Wonderland Stamp set. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock. The sentiment was cut and embossed with Petite Oval Nestabilities and airbrushed with Copic Marker BV20. Snow Kaisercraft Pearls finish off the card.

I created this card for last week’s sketch challenge on Splitcoast. I started out with a 2 5/8″ x 3 3/4″ piece of  Neenah Classic Cream cardstock. I stamped a sentiment from Gina K. Designs Winter Wonderland stamp set in Walnut Stain Distress Ink in the center, then added the small Pine tree from the same set twice on the lower left hand side. The Pine Tree had been inked with mostly Peeled Paint and a bit of Pine Needle Distress Ink. Snowflakes were stamped with Antique Linen Distress ink and the edges were sponged with the same ink.

The sentiment layer was adhered to a piece of Neenah Canyon Brown cardstock cut and embossed with Label 17 Nestabilities and the edges were paper pierced. A snowflake was cut out of Cream cardstock with Whimsy Stamps Winter Jewel Die. The snowflake was sponged with Vintage Photo and a bit of Walnut Stain Distress ink. The snowflake was adhered to the sentiment layer with a dimensional and was topped with a Recollection pearl brad.

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Kraft cardstock folded in half. A 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Pink Paislee Father Christmas patterned paper was stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Canyon Brown cardstock and adhered to the card base.

A 4 1/4″ long Classic Cream cardstock strip was cut and embossed with Eyelet Borderabilities die and stitched to a 1 3/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Father Christmas paper. Ivory May Arts Silk Ribbon was tied around the strip before it was adhered to the card base. The sentiment panel was adhered over the vertical strip with dimensionals.

Again, sorry I have been so quiet. While I had a good start this week getting back to stamping, I was hit with another migraine in the middle of the week. I don’t know why I have those so often here in Ohio. Six more month and we will be moving….hopefully that will help.

For this treat box I started out with a 8 1/4″ square or Red Riding Hood cardstock, scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″.  The squares and triangles were layered first with Neenah Solar White cardstock, then with Fancy Pants Hot Chocolate Patterned Paper. The triangle parts of the box were decorated with White and Riding Hood Red cardstock cut and embossed with Fanciful Holiday Spellbinder dies.

May Arts Brown Organdy Ribbon was threaded through gold eyelets, tied into a bow and aged with a heat gun. A white piece of cardstock was cut and embossed with the smallest Nested Heart die and sponged with Aged Mahogany Distress ink and adhered to a bigger piece of Riding Hood Red cardstock, cut and embossed with the middle Nested Heart die. Small Snow Kaisercraft Pearls finish off the heart embellishment.

The sentiment is from JustRite Stampers Victorian Nested Frames. It was stamped in Walnut Stain Distress ink on White cardstock. The sentiment was cut and embossed with a tag die from Spellbinders. The tag was sponged with Aged Mahogany ink and tied to the bow with gold thread.

Today’s tutorial on Splitcoast is written by Michelle Kovack. She shows us how to give images a Faux Tile look. For my sample I used Flourishes Kids Play stamp set. I stamped the boy image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored it with Copic Markers ( BG72, BG93, BG96, BG99, G24, G28, E31, E33, E35). The sky was airbrushed with Copic Marker B12.

The image was cut into 3/4″ squares. Those squares were topped with Glossy Accents. After the tiles dried they were attached to a another piece of white cardstock. A black piece of cardstock was cut and embossed with Scallop Rectangle Nestabilities and the layers were adhered it with dimensionals.

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Kraft cardstock folded in half.

A 2 1/4″ x 4″ piece of 7 Gypsies Conservatory paper was adhered to a 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece paper from the same paper pack. The papers were stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Basic Black cardstock.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on a tag cut out of Classic Cream cardstock cut and embossed with a retired Tag Spellbinders die. It was adhered to the right side of the image and topped with a bow out of Linen Ribbon.

I created a card for today’s Bring Back Beautiful Challenge. Sorry that it is a bit later.

For my sample I used the Pansy image from the Year In Flowers stamp set. It was stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on Neenah Natural White cardstock and colored with Copic Markers (R81, R83, R85, YG63, YG67). The cardstock was cut with Classic Oval Nestabilies and sponged with Antique Linen and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Another piece of Natural White cardstock was cut and embossed with the Beaded Oval Nestabilities and sponged with Vintage Photo Distress ink. The image was adhered to the beaded oval with dimensionals.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Neenah Classic Cream cardstock folded in half. A 3 1/4″ x 3 13/16″ piece of Webster’s Pages Petite Pages was adhered to a 3 13/16″ x 5″ piece of Webster’s Pages paper. May Arts Lace was adhered underneath the horizontal strip and both layers were stitched to a 1/4″ bigger piece of Natural White cardstock.

I colored a piece of white May Arts Silk Ribbon with Copic Marker R83 and tied the ribbon around the horizontal layer. The sentiment is from Flourishes Tag Lines stamp set. It was stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on a tag cut with a retired Spellbinder die and sponged with Vintage Photo Ink. The tag was tied with Waxed Linen around the ribbon bow and topped with a button. Latte Kaisercraft Pearls finish off the card.
