I created this card for the Mini VSN Friday week before last. It was the first challenge that day and we were to use Fabric on our card. Since it was a pirate VSN, I thought I would use Burlap I had bought last month and hadn’t used yet.

I cut burlap with a Label 18 Nestabilities die and used it as a background for my sentiment label. Natural White cardstock was cut and embossed with Classic Oval Nestabilities dies. The sentiment from Verve stamp set was stamped with Kind Words Rich Cocoa Memento ink. The oval was sponged with Antique Linen Distress ink. A swirl from the stamp set Blessings was stamped over the sentiment in the same color.

A 1 1/2″ x 3 7/8″ strip of Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden paper was adhered to a 3 7/8″ x 5″ piece of the same paper pack. The layers were stitched to a 1/4″ bigger piece of Natural White cardstock.  A piece of retired Websters pages trim was adhered over the vertical strip before white May Arts Organdy ribbon was tied around both the paper and lace trip. The layers were then adhered to the card base, a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Kraft cardstock, folded in half.

The image layers were adhered to the card base with dimensionals. A Prima Flower and two decorative pearl pins finish off the card .

I am excited to share another Flourishes card with you on Mother’s Day! I hope all you Mothers get spoiled rotten from your kids, grandchildren and husbands today. You deserve it!

For my card I chose an image from the Lenten Rose stamp set. I had used the flower cluster before, but not the bouquet in a vase. I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on white cardstock and cut and embossed it with the largest of the Lattice Nestabilities die. The image was then colored with Copic Markers (FlowerPetals: Y13, Y15, Y17 Flower Center: YR14, E99, E37 Leaves & Stems: YG61, YG63, YG67 Water: BG000, BG53 Vase: C0, C1, C3 Ground: E71, E74, E77, E79 Background: B0000, B000, B21).

Check the Flourishes blog for the rest of the card.  Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!

I think Claire really wants me to get good at CAS cards. This weeks sketch really calls for another one. I wish I already had the new Doily stamps from Waltzingmouse stamps, but I just ordered those on Thurday. So I picked my Victorian Frippery set.

I stamped the big circle of the set in Broken China Distress ink twice on a 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ piece of white cardstock. Around the upper circle I added more stamps from Victorian Frippery in Spiced Marmelade and Shabby Shutter Distress inks.

The two bottom corners were rounded before the layer was adhered to the card base, a 7 3/8″ x 5 11/16″ piece of black cardstock, folded in half. The bottom corners were rounded and the edge that was not stamped on, was paper pierced.

A sentiment from Fancy Phrases was stamped in Jet Black Archival ink to finish off the card.

I hope you have time to play with the sketch! Have a wonderful weekend!

We’re helping Taylor spread the word… she’s expecting a sweet little bundle of GIRL in September! I am so excited for her!

For my sample I decided to make Moka Jenn in a girly theme. You’ll also want to hop around to the rest of the blogs linked below as Taylor will be giving away one stamp set of your choice from the May release to a lucky commenter on one of the blogs! You have through Sunday, May 8th to leave your comments and the winner will be announced on Taylor’s blog on Monday!”

For my card I used the girl from Moka Jenn and the diaper bag from Bringing Home Baby on Neenah Solar White cardstock. The image was cut with Classic Circle Nestabilities and colored it with Copic Markers (Shirt/Diaper Bag: YG00, YG01, YG03   Pants: N0, N1   Shoes: E25, E29   Skin: E50, E51, E53   Hair: E25, E59, E49   Bag: YR31, YR23   Tissue, lamb: RV000, RV00, RV02    Ground: C5, C7, C9   Sky: B0000, B000, B01) .

The image was then layered on a piece of Canyon Brown cardstock, cut and embossed with one of the Floral Doily Motif dies.

The sentiment is also from Bringing Home Baby. It was stamped on Solar White cardstock, cut and embossed with a Fancy Tag 2 die and airbrushed with Copic Marker YR31.

A 5″ wide strip of white cardstock cut and embossed with the border die from the Floral Doily Accents. It was stitched to a 2″ x 5″ strip of Pebbles cardstock.  The two bottom corners of a 5″ square of Pebbles paper were rounded and stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Canyon Brown cardstock.  The strip was adhered over the square and ivory silk ribbon was tied around it.

The image was adhered over the layers with dimensionals and everything was taped to the card base, a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of white cardstock, folded in half. Again the bottom corners were rounded. A Recollections Pearl swirl was cut apart and adhered to the card front.

This weeks Sweet Stop Challenge was a fun one. I hope you have time to play. I had this cutie image half colored laying around my stamp room for over a month. It was perfect for the oval image panel for this sketch.

The image is from Mo’s Digital Pencil and is called Birthday Fairy. It was printed out on Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut with Petite Oval Nestabilities dies and colored with Copic Markers (Skirt: Y11, Y13, Y15     Top: R11, R12, R14, BG10, BG11, BG13    Wings: BG0000, BG000   Cupcake: E31, E33, E34, R11, R12, R14    Hair: Y21, Y23, E33    Skin: E000, E01, E02     Ground: C3, C5, C7, C9       Background: B0000, B000, B12).

The oval was adhered to a piece of Canyon Brown cardstock, cut and embossed with a Scallop Petite Oval Nestabilities die. The wings were covered in Stardust Stickles, the Cupcake with Yellow, Orange Peel and Stardust Stickles.

A 5″ long strip of white cardstock was cut and embossed with the border die from Flower Doily Accents.  It was adhered underneath a 2 3/8″ x 5″ piece of  Echo Park 6″ x 6″ Walk in the Park paper. The layers were adhered to a 5″ square of the same paper pack that had been stitched to a 3/16″ bigger piece of Canyon Brown cardstock. All layers were adhered to a 5 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Kraft cardstock, folded in half.

A piece of Melissa Frances white ribbon was adhered on the lower part of a  3″ x 4 1/4″ piece of Walk in the park paper. The paper was stitched to a slightly bigger piece of Kraft cardstock before the layers were adhered to the card base. The image layers were adhered over that with dimensionals.

The sentiment is from The Cat’s Pajamas Birthday Bunny set. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and layered on a slightly bigger strip of Kraft cardstock.

Tissue paper was cut with a flower die from the Flower Doily Accent die set and topped with a Rhinestone brad. It was attached to the upper right hand side of the image layers. A Recollection Rhinestone swirl was adhered next to it.

The blue flower is from Prima, the white flower on the lower left corner is from Zva creative. They finish off the birthday card.

Thanks so much for looking! Have a wonderful day!

For my sample today I used the new Orchids set. I love this big branch of gorgeous flowers. I haven’t seen too many orchids, so I googled Orchid images and picked a white/yellow one for my color sample. As layout I used Silke’s sketch for last week’s Timeless Tuesday Challenge.

I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut it with a Label 21 Nestabilities die and colored with Copic Markers (Blossoms: N0, N1, Y13, Y15, Y17   Stem: YG00, YG01, YG03, YG17    Sky: B0000, B000, B00).  The image was adhered to a piece of Canyon Brown cardstock that was hand cut into a slightly bigger layer.

Two strips of white cardstock were cut and embossed with Floral Doily Accents border die. The istrips were adhered to a 2 1/4″ wide strip of Echo Park Springtime paper. That was adhered to a square piece of Springtime paper.  All the layers were cut and embossed with a Grand Circle Nestabilities dies. The circle was adhered to a piece of Canyon Brown cardstock that was hand cut to a slightly bigger layer. May Arts Silk Ribbon was tied around the vertical layer before  the layers were adhered to the card base, Kraft cardstock cut and embossed with Grand Scallop Circle Nestabilities.

The sentiment is also from the stamp set Orchids. It was stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on White cardstock, cut and embossed with Circle Nestabilities and colored with Copic Markers (B000, B00). The layer was adhered to a piece of Canyon Brown cardstock, cut and embossed with a Floral Doily Motif die. Clear Kaisercraft Rhinestones finish off the card.

I have some exciting news to share with you.  Julie asked me to be Flourishes Limelight Designer for the month of May. You probably all know that I love Flourishes stamps. I was honored that I was asked and of course said yes right away!

Every Sunday this month I will show you part of a card I created with Flourishes stamps and you can see the entire project on the Flourishes Blog.

For my first card I chose to highlight a sentiment from the new set Motherly Love.

The heart was created out of cardboard from a box I got in the mail. I have seen painted cardboard on several blogs the last few weeks/months and had to try it out myself. It fits this month Inspiration Emporium challenge: Re-Purposing Packaging. You have the whole month of May to design a project for that challenge, post it on your blog and add a link to the Challenge post  on the Inspiration Journal.

Please check the Flourishes Blog post for a view of the entire card and the rest of the information for this card.

    Have a wonderful Sunday!
    Hugs and smiles
