Welcome to the Copic Coloring Guide Blog Hop! We’ve got information about the new book, beautiful coloring, stunning card projects, and BLOG CANDY!
The Copic Coloring Guide is a new book by Colleen Schaan and Marianne Walker. It’s the perfect resource for beginner and intermediate coloring artists alike. The book contains information about the different styles of Copic markers, explains the coloring/numbering system, details how to pick good blending groups, teaches a number of blending techniques through illustrated tutorials, and de-mistifies the colorless blender marker. And that’s just in the first 18 pages! The book also contains over 40 beautiful coloring card projects separated into beginner, intermediate and advanced skill level. Each card project includes step-by-step coloring AND assembly instructions… along with supply lists and manufacturer information to make recreating the projects simple and easy.
I was excited that Colleen picked one of my cards to be featured in her book. The stamp I used for this card is called Ophelia, designed by Crissy Armstrong from Kraftin’ Kimmie Stamps. Crissy’s fairy stamp are so much fun to color! The book is published by Annie’s Attic, a division of DRG, also the publishers of the popular CardMaker magazine. I can’t give you a favorite combo, but I can say I think I would want to learn how to do flesh, coloring people, as I think that is probably the toughest to do.

What a beautiful card… your coloring of this image is breathtaking… I could never visualize such a combination. Tks for sharing. As for color combination I love all of the Pinks and I have everyone in that color family.
I have several but I always go to E11, E00, E000 for my skin tones. For vintage I use E13, E00, E000. Definitely favs!!
I think my favorite is PTI’s Raspberry Fizz combo: RV04, RV17 RV19. Its such a vibrant mix for flowers

I am such a beginner collector, so only have a handful of copics right now. but as for color combos, I am all about the pink being the only female in a house of 5. so any of those shades appeal to me! 🙂
I first must comment on your amazing card. The colors you chose are beautiful as is your work. My favorite color combo is YG21-23-25, I’m all about the greens.
What a stunning addition to the book Beate….so WONDERFULLY colored!
I like to use my E-series markers in combination with my other markers to produce a vintage or aged look to my colors. You can achieve a red or yellow toned “aging” depending on what E-series marker you use.
Beate, you are my first and best inspiration for cards! Your work is truly amazing! Just beginning with Copics, but since I am an autumn girl, I like YR04, YR07, YR09.
I own a few Copic markers and really want to improve my pitiful skill level. Your work is fabulous and love to see your projects every day.

At age 67, after years of knitting, sewing, and some stamping, I am now addicted to card making. Having just begun, my supplies, equipment and knowledge are very limited. I do love to color flowers but at present cannot afford Copics.
my favorite copic combo is R35,R37, R39. It’s the only trio I own and I love it for flowers!
Such a pretty image, Beate! As for a favorite combination, I love R81 and R83 for a pretty pink, sometimes with a touch of R59 to deepen the color.

My favorite trio is probably R30, R32, and R35. I find myself using it frequently. I also love the blue-greens. Luscious.

Wow, this fairy card is simply gorgeous and your coloring is so life like. I consider myself a beginer and am still aquiring my color collection of copics. I started with floral images (the easiest), and am working way up. I think faces, skin, & hair, are the real challenge and am working way up to accomplishing techniques in those areas as I feel those are the hardest to make look so life like. So your card would definitely be a starting point to achieving that. I would definitely love to be able to color at your calibur.

WOW Beate, what a beautiful card!!! I dream about being able to color like that!! Her hair is absolutely gorgeous and looks so real! What a gorgeous card, right now I am playing with my favorite color palette in general and that is shades of purple so right now I use alot of V01, V09 and V17

I just love the colouring in your card, it is so professional and real looking. I have many favourite colour combo’s but I particularly like E50,51 and 53 for colouring skin.
I love all my Copics but am partial to any G or YG combination. I love any shade of green. But I don’t limit myself – I love the different ways you can create shape and dimension with the gray and neutral undertones. So, aside from any shade of green, I love them all!

Wow. This card is stunning. I was immediately drawn to the dress. I studied your technique for quite some time. I eventually took my eyes of that and studied other areas. I was delighted by the fair skin and beautiful silky hair. *sigh. This is so beautiful.
Color combos…there are so many to choose from. I colored some areas with grey to give depth to a white paper cup using c-0, c-3 and c-5. The cup had a tan lid which I shaded with E50 and E53. I will reach for those color combos again.
I am too much of a newbee to know what the numbers are, but I sure love what you used in her hair.

I’m pretty new at Copics and purchased RV11, RV17 and RV19. I have discovered that the latter two are too similar and the RV11 is too different. I really need work on blending!

Hi, Well I only have one Copic at this time, it was a gift and I’m bitting at the bit to learn how to use Copics and start collecting them.
I would love to find a class in my area but haven’t been able to so far (zip 53215) if anyone know of classes. I’d travel up to 50 mis.
Anyway the Copic I have is BG 39, Duck Blue and I guess the next colors I’d like to get are BG09 & BG13.

Hmmmmm … my favorite Copic color combo is … and I did sweat bullets over this … R81, R85 and either R83 or R89 depending on how much color I really need. For me, you can never have too much color … eye shadow maybe … but not on paper! Copics are the perfect blend of color and congrats on your card design. 🙂

I don’t own any Copics yet, but I’d first select some colors that would make a beautiful Cardinal (bird). Those colors would no doubt work very well for any number of flower blossoms, too.

That is what I love about Copics…the color combos seem endless. I love coloring embellishments to add to my cards and scrapbook pages. It is awesome to take a plain white embellie and color it to totally match whatever I want. LOVE IT!!!!

I am just absolutely amazed how beautifully you colour and shade! I dont have that many copics so it is difficult to choose a combo.
