I created this card for a recent  Inspiration Challenge on Splitcoast. Stef picked a great site to draw inspiration from. As soon as I saw this cake, I knew I wanted to use Flourishes gorgeous Orchid stamp set.

I stamped the Orchid image in  Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored it with  Copic Markers (YG0000, YG01, YG03, YG17, Y13, Y17 and red spica pen). The image was cut out and adhered to a frame cut and embossed with the largest  Tear Drop Circle and a Standard Circle Nestabilities die.

With the same Standard Circle die used for the frame, a piece of MME Lime Twist Life is a Party was cut and embossed. The edges were sanded and the circle was layed inside the frame. The orchid was adhered over the frame and paper with dimensionals. A sentiment from the orchid set was stamped on the right hand side of the paper with Tuxedo Black Ink.

A 4 3/16″ square of Solar White cardstock was embossed with the Elegance M-Bossibilities folder (I do love that folder!) that had been inked with New Sprout Memento Ink. It was stitched to a 4 1/4″ square of Sour Apple Cardstock.  A piece of my new favorite May Arts ribbon was threaded through one of the Tear Drop circle holes  and tied around the layers. The frame was adhered over the squares with dimensionals.

The card base was cut and embossed with the second smallest Grand Scallop Square Nestabilities dies. Nina Brackets gorgeous new Fancy That! Border Bling and parts of a Finesse Rhinestone Swirl finish off the card.

Last Wednesday Splitcoaststampers posted a new product review. This time we reviewed the Perfect Layers tools. Before I stamped I was a quilter. I love exact measurements and math. I love my paper cutter and don’t have any problems figuring out the size of my next layer. But…if you are not like me, this is a pretty nifty tool.

One of my samples was this card. I used to the 1/16″ edge to layer the image from Creative Scraps Birds & Blossoms on a piece of Neenah Classic Cream Cardstock after the edges of the image had been sanded. I used the 3/8″ edge to cut a piece of Prima Natural Garden paper for my layer on the card base.

May Arts ribbon was tied around the image layers. A sentiment from Crafty Secrets Bird Notes was stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on a piece of Classic Cream cardstock, that had been cut and embossed one of the Home Sweet Home dies. The edges of the tag were sponged with Frayed Burlap Distress ink and a bird from Bird Notes was stamped over the sentiment in a second generation Frayed Burlap ink. The tag was tied around the bow along with a button with Linen Thread.

The layers were adhered to a piece of Kraft cardstock, cut and embossed with the smallest of the Grand Label 23 Nestabilities die.  The edges of the Prima paper were sanded and stitched before the piece was adhered to the card base. The image layers were adhered to the card base. Parts of a Finesse Pearl Swirl finish off the card.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

This week on the Spellbinders Blog it’s all about Flower dies. Linda showcased how to roll and layer flowers and use them on an altered trinket box. Karen used layered flowers to re-purpose a frame. I thought I show you a different way to use the dies. Please check out the entire project on the Spellbinders Blog.

Hint: It’s one of my favorite things to do with Spellbinders dies. I know you know what I am talking about! 🙂

Have a wonderful day!

Today’s new Whimsy Challenge is to use no patterned paper. That’s a tough one for me. But I did it for my card on Monday and liked it so much,  I used the same dies and embossing folder again.

I picked Brooke the Zinnia Fairy as my image. She was printed out on Neenah Solar White cardstock, cut out with the Out of the Box technique and a  Standard Circle Nestabilities die and colored with Copic Markers ( Flower and Shirt: Y32, Y17, YR15, YR18, E97, E99, E29   Leaves and Skirt: YG01, YG03, YG17   Skin: E0000, E00, E02   Hair: Y23, E31, E33   Wings: YG0000, YG00, YG01   Background: BG0000, BG000, BG01). The circle was adhered to a piece of Solar White cardstock that had been cut and embossed with the largest Spendid Circle die.

One 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of white cardstock was embossed with the new Flower Fun M-Bossabilities folder that had been inked up with New Sprout Memento Ink. A 4 1/4″ wide strip of white cardstock was then cut and embossed with a Classic Edge 2 and a Classic Decorative Inserts 5 die. The strip was adhered under the embossed strip, which was then adhered to a 4 1/4″ white cardstock square that had been embossed with the same embossing folder, this time inked up with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. The edges were stitched before the layers were adhered to a 1/8″ bigger piece of green cardstock.

Aqua Sheer Ribbon was threaded through one of the openings of the Splendid circle die cut before the image layers were adhered to the embossed layers with dimensionals. The ribbon was tied into a bow. A tag was cut out of white cardstock with a die from the Home Sweet Home pack. A sentiment from The Good Life Tickets was stamped over it in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink and the inner part was airbrushed with Copic Marker Y17. The tag was tied to the bow with embroidery thread and a button.

The layers were adhered to the card base which was created out of Solar White cardstock, cut and embossed with a Grand Scallop Square Nestabilities die. Rhinestones from the Sleek Strips Silver Rhinestones and part of a Fancy That! Border Bling finish off the card.

I hope you have time to participate in the challenge. While not easy (I love using patterned paper), it’s fun and you could win free digital images. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a wonderful day!

Maki is today’s Timeless Tuesday challenge hostess and asked us to create an Easter project or card. As soon as I read the challenge, I knew I wanted to use those adorable bunnies from Spring is Sprung.

I started by cutting the edges of a 6 1/4″ wide piece of white cardstock with a Classic Edge 2 die as well as a die from Classic Decorative Inserts die.  I scored the strip at 3″ and 6″ before stamping the bunny image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on one of the 3″ panels, above the embossed edge. The image was colored with Copic Markers (Bunnies: E40, E41, E42, E43, R00, R20   Flowers: Y13, Y15, Y17, RV10, B63, B66, G43, G46   Grass: YG01, YG03, YG17   Sky: B0000, B000).

A 6 1/2″ x 7″ piece of Kraft cardstock was scored at 3″ and 6″ on the 6 1/2″ side and adhered into a tube. The bunny strip was adhered around that tube. A 1 1/2″ x 6″ piece of MME Lost & Found 2 Rosy Patterned paper was stitched to a white cardstock strip. It was adhered above the bunny image strip. A rhinestone border bling was adhered to the bottom edge of the patterned paper layer and ribbon was tied around it. It was topped with a button, tied on with embroidery thread.

A hole was punched on top and ribbon threaded through it. Next a Hershey bar was pushed down into the tube and the ribbon on top was tied with a piece of embroidery thread. A sentiment from the same set was stamped on the lower right corner of the tube. Three small rhinestones on the embossed strip finish off the pull treat holder.

The current JustRite Stampers challenge is to create a card using spring colors and butterflies. I just got new Spellbinders dies in and couldn’t wait to try out the smaller of the two butterfly dies from Wings of Hope. I cut and embossed a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock and sponged the butterfly with the die still on with Cantaloupe Memento Ink.

A frame from JustRite Stampers Kindness was stamped in Rich Cocoa Memento Ink on  Solar White cardstock. It was cut and embossed with the largest Label 20 Nestabilities die. Another piece of white cardstock was cut and embossed with the smallest of the Large Petite Oval Nestabilities die and sponged with New Sprout Memento Ink. A sentiment from Kindness was stamped in Rich Cocoa ink on the oval before that was adhered to the stamped frame with dimensionals. The butterfly was adhered to the lower right of the frame.

An image from Classic Scallop Border I was stamped in Rich Cocoa ink on white cardstock and cut out. It was stitched to a piece of Pink Paislee London Market Patterned paper that had been cut and embossed with the second smallest  Grand Rectangle Nestabilities die and the edges had been sanded. Fancy Waves! Border bling was adhered to the bottom of the scallop before the sentiment and butterfly were adhered to the center of the paper.

A piece of vellum was cut and embossed with the largest of the Floral Oval Nestabilities dies and adhered under the sentiment layers with dimensionals.  May Arts ribbon was threaded between the Vellum and the label, the label was adhered to the patterned paper with dimensionals and the ribbon was tied into a bow. Everything was adhered to the card base, which was cut and embossed out of Solar White cardstock with a Grand Scallop Rectangle die. Rhinestones from the new Sleek Strips Silver Rhinestones on the butterfly and label finish off the card.

I hope you have time to participate in the challenge. You could win JustRite stamps! Have a wonderful weekend!
