Can you believe it? I am posting!!!!

Today’s sketch challenge hostess is Jenn Balcer. Make sure you check out her blog and post the link of your sample there.

I got my first order from the new catalog and actually played with it to make a sample for today’s sketch. It’s hard for me. I am in summer mode. I read, I take the kids to the pool (when it’s warm enough) and try to figure out the new area. I already found a hairdresser for the kids and me. Tomorrow we are checking out an orthodontist…..Next week we will go and check out a private school for the two younger ones. Austin will start highschool in Fairborn.

Have a great weekend! Hugs and smiles

I am a total flaker again, but…I finished the last book in my series. Now I have to wait until #12 comes out this November.

The book series is called Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. If you like fantasy, this might a book series for you.

I am not sure if I will get to stamp today either. Katrina and I are going to the outlet malls first, then to see Ghost of Girlfriends past. I can’t believe I am going to the first showing on the first day of the movie release. I usually wait a whole week before going to see new movies. I don’t like crowds. Oh well…

Have a wonderful weekend. Hugs and smiles

Sorry girls.

Again, I am flaking out! I will get back in the swing of things….I just don’t know when.  The last days of school are approaching and we only have 5 weeks left before the movers arrive. The sun is shining and I am stuck in a 11 book series (started the last book now). I have a hard time stamping!!! I figure I better enjoy the summer weather while I can. Plus I am working out 5 days a week again to get rid of my extra weight I gained in Germany. (excuses, excuses…I know).

Anyway….

Here is this weekend’s sketch. Sharon Harnist is this week’s hostess. Make sure to post the link of your entry on her blog.

Have a great weekend. Hugs and smiles

Sorry about not posting for a while. I had a wonderful time back home in Germany. The trip home was another story. They changed out flights from 2 to 3 legs home. Then one was delayed and we missed our flight back to Fort Walton. We had to spend the night in Atlanta and had to get up super early for the flight home.

I had a horrid time getting over my jet lag and now I have a hard time getting back to stamping. So I will be sitting this challenge out.

Thanks to everyone that wished me Happy Birthday and/or send me a card. That was really sweet of you and made my otherwise pretty horrid birthday better!

I started with stamping my little duck from the Occasional Mini catalog Wagon Full of Fun in Tuxedo Memento ink on Neenah cardstock. I colored the bill and feet with copics and outlined the duck with W1 Copic and air brushed the sky with Copic B00.

Sunshine Flower Soft was added over the body of the duck with glue. I stamped the duck twice more, one more time on white cardstock and one time on Delicate Dots Designer Paper. I cut out the wing of the white cardstock duck, popped it up with a dimensional and added Sunshine Flower Soft over the wing as well. I cut out the bow around the ducky’s neck from the designer paper and added it to the main image with dimensionals. I added Shamrock Green Flower Soft under the ducky’s feet.

The image was layered on a basic black scallop rectangle that had been cut with Nestabilities. The edges top and side edges of the image layer were paper pierced.

wagonfofwsc72frontbeate.jpg

The card base is a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Basic Black cardstock folded in half. It was layered with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Delicate Dots Designer Paper. The Designer Paper was sanded and paper pierced.

I cut one Top Note Die cut out of Basic Black cardstock, one out of retired Haiku designer paper. The Haiku paper was cut down a bit, layered on the black cut out and paper pierced around the top edges. It was taped to the center of the green designer paper with a 1 3/8″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Delicate Dots Designer Paper added over the bottom. Celery 5/8″ Grosgrain ribbon was tied around the bottom.

The sentiment is from Many Happy Returns. It was stamped in black on Whisper White cardstock, punched out with the Curly label punch and adhered to the top left of the image. The image was secured to the card base with dimensionals. I added two flowers from the Pretties kit, one with a Pumpkin Corduroy Button, one with a Flower brad in it’s center. The last flower is from Flower Fusion and has a half Pearl from the Pretties kit to top it  off.

The inside is kept pretty simple.

I started with a sanded piece of the Delicate Dots Designer Paper. It was followed by a White Top Note Die cut that had been layered first with a 1 1/4″ strip of Basic Black, then a  1 1/8″ strip of Delicate Dots DP.

To finish it off I added a felt flower from Flower Fusion with a 5/16″ Jumbo Brad in its center.

Starting today we will handle the WSC a little different.

Every week there will be a different girl from the challenge team creating the sketch and hosting the challenge.wsc70.jpgwsc70.jpg

Today’s sketch is from Lori. Please go there to add your entry! I don’t know if you noticed, but I added a Mr. Linky to last weeks challenge later that last weekend. We will use it from now on for the challenges. It will make it easier to look at everyone’s sample.

What a great sketch to show off Designer paper. I know we all have some! LOL

lejardinbwsc70beate.jpg

I started my card by working on the main image. I used the 1 3/4″ x 3″ outer right hand strip for that. I stamped the flower from Le Jardin Botanique (GORGEOUS new set) in Basic Brown on Shimmery White cardstock

I masked the flower and stamped En Francais over in Sahara Sand. Two more flowers were stamped in Sahara Sand over the cardstock and the edges were sponged in the same color. Next I colored the image with Pink Pirouette, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze classic inks and Aqua Painter. To finish the image off I added a little sparkle with the 2 way glue and Dazzling Diamond Glitter.

The edges were distressed with the Cutter Kit and the top left and bottom right received a few paper piercings. I punched a 3″ strip of Baja Breeze cardstock with the Eyelet Border punch, muted the color with White craft ink and taped it underneath the image on the right hand side.

The left strip measures 1 1/8″ x 3″ was sanded and is from the Parisian Breeze Designer paper.  Two silver 5/16″ Jumbo brads were added to the top left. The horizontal strip of designer paper measures 7/8″ x 4 1/4″ and is from the same designer paper pack. It was also sanded and a Shimmery White Eyelet Border layer was added underneath. White Taffeta ribbon as tied around it (as well as the grey and white layer) and a hat pin from Pretties Kit was added through the knot.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Kraft cardstock folded in half. On top of that is a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Shimmery White cardstock. The edges were distressed with the cutter kit (and the inside cut out so I wouldn’t waste my precious shimmery paper). The gray designer paper is from the new Urban Oasis Designer Paper. The edges were paper pierced and sanded.

The sentiment is also from Le Jardin Botanique. It was stamped in Basic Brown, cut out , layered first on a 1 1/4″ Kraft circle, then a 1 3/8″ Chocolate circle and a Baja Breeze scallop circle that was muted with white craft ink.

lejardinbwsc70insidebeate.jpg

For the card inside I distressed a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic Gray cardstock.

I stamped the flower twice in Basic Gray on the right hand side.

On the bottom I added another sanded 7/8″ x 4″ strip of Parisian Breeze Designer paper with a Eyelet Border underneath.

I am sorry that I don’t have a sample for you. I started reading the Twilight Series day before yesterday and I can’t stop. I am 1/2 way through the last book. I should be done sometime today. What can I say, I am a compulsive reader. I can’t stop until I know how the story ends.

Hugs and smiles
