I created this card back in May for one of the VSN challenges. The image is from the April Monthly Mix It’s good to be the Queen from Lizzie Ann Designs. It was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock and colored with Copic Markers (YG00, YG01, YG03, RV00, RV02, RV13, BG0000, BG000, BG01). Patterns were added with the Inkessential white pen for more interest and the image was cut out with Petite Oval Nestabilities.

The card base is a 4 1/4″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Kraft cardstock that was folded in half. The bottom corners were rounded with a retired Stampin’ Up! corner rounded. The entire card front was covered with dots created with an Aqua Adirondack Paint Dabber. White gel pen dots circle those dots for more interest.

The sentiment is also from the April Monthly Mix kit. A bow out of White Silk Ribbon from May Arts was topped with a green Basic Grey Button and adhered to the image with a glue dot.

Last week the Featured stamper was Emily Montenaro. She creates beautiful clean and simple cards. That is usually hard for me, but I gave it a try. This card also worked for the VSN challenge Singing in the Rain. We were to be inspired by the song “Singing in the Rain”. I loved that song and that movie when I was little. I used Lizzie Ann Designs February Monthly Mixed called Singing in the Rain.

I picked this card of hers to case. I switched the card base from White to Kraft and changed the image. But I kept the layout and made it a CAS card.

My card base measures 4 1/4″ x 11″ and was folded in half. The corners were rounded with a retired corner rounder from Stampin’ Up! The image and sentiment were stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. The little chick was colored with Prismacolor Pencils. The little umbrella was paper pieced with patterned paper from the October Afternoon Ducks in a Row patterned paper pack. The edges of the umbrella were

I cut clouds out of Neenah Solar White cardstock with the MFT Cloud Die-namics die. The edges were sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink. The same was done to the umbrella before it was adhered to the card base.

Today’s tutorial on SCS is for the Acrylic Distress technique I learned at Ranger U. If you follow my blog, you already know how to create the background from this post. I love the look this technique creates. For my sample I used the Color Combo from the Color Challenge on SCS a couple of weeks ago.

The card base was created out of a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Dusty Durango cardstock. It was folded in half. The card front was sponged with Rusty Hinge, the edges with Walnut Stain. On the lower 2/3 I stamped a script from Mini Ornates in Walnut stain. The swirl on the lower left is from the same set.

For the background I cut a piece of Neenah Solar White with Label 8 Nestabilities and embossed it with the Fleur De Lis Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. It was painted with Shell Pink Acrylic Paint, sanded and then sponged with Walnut Stain ink. The background was then buffed with a slightly damp rag to take off the ink over the acrylic paint.

The main images is from Lizzie Ann Designs Lucky You. It was stamped in Walnut Stain ink on Neenah White cardstock, embossed with Walnut Stain Distress Embossing powder and cut out with Postage scissors. Then it was sponged with Old Paper, Vintage Photo and a hint of Walnut Stain. The entire piece was covered in Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint.

The sentiment is also from the Lucky You set. It was stamped in Walnut Stain on Neenah White, sponged with Old Paper and adhered to an oval Fragment with Glossy Accents. A jump ring was adhered to the back and 1/4″ May Arts silk ribbon was tied to the top. The flowers are from Prima’s Daisy Doodles, the buttons from Stampin’ Up!’s neutral button collection, Making Memories and Basic Grey.

A little while ago I  shot a video for the Striped Wipe Background technique. I haven’t shared that tiny card with you yet.

ladmix0110stripedwipe.jpg

To create the background I used Broken China, Mustard Seed and Peeled Paint Distress ink re-inker on baby wipe. I inked the wipe and swiped it over Glossy White cardstock. The image is from Lizzie Anne Design’s January 2010 Monthly Mix. It was stamped in Black Stazon over the background. The image was adhered to a black scallop card base that had been cut with Rectangle Nestabilities.

We needed a video for the gift card holder tutorial for last weeks newsletter. For my sample I used Penny Lane My Mind’s Eye Paper and Lizzie Anne Designs Love & Joy Labels.
