A little bit about me and FTC declaration

beachrickandi.jpg

I am born and raised in Klein-Gerau, Germany.  The next big city is Frankfurt and is about 30 minutes away. I met my husband Rick when I was 18 and we got married 5 years later. Rick is in the Air Force and we move quite a lot. Since we got married we  lived in Rome, NY; Newport News, VA; 3 years  in Germany; Swansea, IL; San Antonio, TX; Niceville, FL ,Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio (Dayton area) and now Edmond, OK. We do feel San Antonio is our home and hope to retire there some day. We still miss the beaches of Florida.

I have always been doing some kind of craft. Back in Germany I knitted. In New York I cross stitched. In Virginia I had two boys under two and no time for crafts. In Germany I quilted. Then in Illinois, I started stamping. I went to my first Stampin’ Up! workshop on January 2003 and that was it for me. Gorgeous stamps and then stamp sets for free! Hel-looooo. I was so getting all of the sets. By the time the new catalog came out that July, I couldn’t take it anymore. I had to sign up….just for the discount. LOL Later that year Daven asked me to write tutorials for SCS….and I have been doing that ever since. I resigned as a demonstrator in the fall of 2009, when Stampin’ Up! changed their rules for demonstrators. I still wanted to share non Stampin’ Up! projects and tutorials on this blog and link to the places where you can order all the products I used.

Rick and I are blessed with three wonderful children:

Austin is 17 years old and taller then me. He is already acting so grown up!
Lucas 15  years old and is our wild child with a soft side. I love the way he giggles!
Rebecca is 12. She is so sweet and gentle and loves all things girly.

FTC declaration:

  • Because of my work at Splitcoaststampers I receive free merchandise when we review products. I also receive a discount from several member companies so I can feature them in my tutorials and on my blog.  While I get these products at a discount or free, I maintain the freedom as an independent designer to say what I truly think of their products. I will never recommend something that I don’t personally use and enjoy.
  • I have been guest designer for several companies that may provide me with free product such as stamps and paper in return for my creating projects with them that I share on my blog. I only accept products that I like and enjoy using and are the kinds of products I would purchase on my own without compensation.
  • I have joined affiliate programs as I like to provide links to products that I use in my creations. If I have joined an affiliate program it is because I purchase products from that merchant and like their customer service. The products that I link to are products that I have already purchased for my own use or would like to purchase and use.

  1. Dear Beate,

Thank you for sharing with us about you, your family and your crafting journey. I am a visual learner and want you to know how grateful I am for the video tutorials you make for Splitcoasterstampers. I watch everyone that comes out and am delighted to have a successful outcome on a project or card myself after watching your demonstration. I just can’t thank you enough.

Now that I have clicked over to your blog, I can follow that also. I appreciate your work ethics and value the fact that you only share information on products that you use yourself and think are helpful. Thank you for your high standard.

Last but far from least – your art work is so beautiful and neat – it is something to be admired and appreciated.

Happy New Year to you and your family

  2. Thanks Beatte, I love your tutorials. I can’t remember how I found you, but I’m glad I did. Your children are beautiful. You are blessed. Thanks again

  3. I know that when you have been the demo for a tutorial that it will be something I would enjoy incorporating into my papercrafting and that the tutorial will be top notch.

  4. Hello Beatte: I want you to know that I am amazed at your creativity and talent. I’m also incredibly grateful for posting all of those incredible video tutorials. It’s fabulous how, in a few minutes, you explain with great detail, how to make all of those beautiful cards. Thank you so much and keep up the great job.

PS. You have a beautiful family, God Bless you all.

  5. Thank you for the insight into your family. I have been a follower for a while now and really enjoy your videos. You make everything easy to understand and I so enjoy the sound of your lovely voice. When did you come to Edmond, Ok? I live in Yukon, so welcome to Oklahoma. Do you ever have one on one classes? Just curious. Thank you for sharing your artistry. It is so nice to see your lovely family.

  6. Hello Beate,

I like very much your video’s for Splitcoaststampers. Every week I’m excited wich card you will make an d explain. Sometimes your English is little bit different from all the American ladies, now I know it is because of your German background. Ich kann natürlich jetzt auch in Deutsch weitermachen aber daß ist nicht so schön für die Anderen LOL. I look every video to integrate it into my own work.
That you want to stay an independent designer I love and admire!!!! That’s the right spirit, I wish you many more creative years to.
